shocking!
Friday, April 30, 2004
this morning i heard this piece of news first on kroq, a local radio station. when i got to the office, i went to search for it, but was only able to find an old article. basically these georgia high schools are having 2 separte proms, one for white and one for black. i can not believe at this day of age there are still people in this country doing this. it is so shocking and ridiculous. last i checked my calender that it is the year 2004. what the f are these people thinking?
bloody mary
Wednesday, April 28, 2004
in order to get rid of this bloody mary scare out of my system, i decided to read all there are about bloody mary. after reading what's there, i do not feel it is that scary after all. we will see how it is when i need to go to the bathroom later on. maybe that is why i dislike mirrors so much. only place in the house that requires mirror will be the bathroom, nowhere else. especially not in the bedroom, yikes!
prank call anyone?

found this one on cnn, very amusing.
did i hear someone mentioning a trip?
Wednesday, April 28, 2004
i know it is way too early to mention this. but i am going to mention it anyway: we are going to australia in may/june next year. it will be my third trip there. can you feel the excitment in the air? :) my parents are going with us too this time. we are saving like crazy right now. there are only two airlines, united and qantas, flying non-stop to melbourne. (say it with me, mel-bun. thank you very much.) so there is no competition and the airfare is always around 0-800 range, and that is during off-peak season.
did i mention that john is an australian? unfortunately he has lost a lot of aussie accent. to me at least. maybe i am just so used to hearing him. when i first started talking to him, i had to ask him to repeat everything he said twice before i could understand him. heh. one of those days, i will tell you how we met. anyway, his family still lives there. so they get to see the baby and john edward, see us. we get to spend john edward's and my birthdays there. (je's birthday is one day before mine.) etc, etc.
where is my sleep?
Wednesday, April 28, 2004
for a week now i would lay there and not be able to go back sleep, after waking up around 1 or 2 in the morning for a bathroom stop. i just lay there desperately trying to go back to sleep. but nope, not happening. not until 3 hours later. *sigh* i don't know if it is because of the heat or i have way too much random thoughts popping in my head. incredibly i do not feel tired in the morning.
it is extremely hot here for the last few days, around 100ºF. if it is this hot at the end of april, i can't imagine what it will be like in june, when i will be five or six-month pregnant. *shudder* talking about pregnancy, no more "morning sickness" yay! :) i thought i would have a lot more with this one, but thank god it has past. (knock on wood) one of my cousins had 7-month of "morning sickness" with her first child. yikes.
this weekend john and i are going away for a short trip to carmel. i am taking friday afternoon off. john works for the city, so he has every other friday off. yeah, W-H-A-T-E-V-E-R. he will pick me up from my work, and we will head there directly. it is partially to celebrate our anniversary, also our "last" trip before the baby is born. supposedly the weather will cool down too. i can't wait.
happy anniversary
Sunday, April 25, 2004
today is our 6th anniversary. and what did we do? nada, not a single thing. but it is the best. we are meeting my parents for an early mother's day dinner in an hour, since they will be out of town during that weekend, and we will be at carmel next weekend.
last night we met up with xinh, susan, and dave for a bowling night. we played 2 games, i totally sucked. then again i have not played for over 10 years. my second game's score did improve though. afterwards we went to a denny for dinner, then starbucks for coffee. we sat outside of the starbucks chatting past 11pm. talked about scary movies and all the scary dreams/situations we have encounted in our lives. had a good time. i am usually pretty immune to them, but xinh mentioned about bloody mary from the bathroom mirror. guess what? i was so freaking scared to go to the bathroom this morning around 2. i finally went, after turning on both the bedside lamp and the bathroom light. i basically ran there and back. i just feel too silly right now. :)
the wiggles
Friday, April 23, 2004
yesterday i was going through the weekend section of the LA times and saw that "the wiggles" is playing life at universal city and long beach over the weekend. "the wiggles" is a sydney, australia based children's group, that consists of four guys, who dress in red, yellow, blue, and purple. they are very popular even after 13 years in the business. anyway, after reading this news, john immediately called ticketmaster to find out if there were still tickets available. there were none that with seats together. that was pointless. i was really disappointed, because john edward loves "the wiggles". but i got all happy again when i found out from their website that they are coming back for another USA tour in august and november.
netflix
Friday, April 23, 2004
it is friday. yippy. :) anyway, last night we had a "scare". we have received "rundown" from netflix on tuesday and intended to watch it last night, but we could not find it anyway. i was so worried that i might have accidentally throw it away during my massive clean-up on tuesday night. so instead of watching "rundown", we played dino monopoly with john edward. yes, gotta start them young with monopoly. :) luckily before going to bed, john found the dvd in one of the baskets. it would have totally sucked if we lost it after waiting for it forever from netflix.
and "lost in translation" is coming to our way too. all i can say is it is about bloody time.
wow, great benefit
Thursday, April 22, 2004
i was just randomly going through different sites and saw this on google. it is their company's benefits. those are some kick ass benefits. i espeically like the fact that they give new employees 15 days of vacations right away, free meal, and health insurance even to same sex partners. i so want to work for them, unfortunately they are in northern california.
the grove
Thursday, April 22, 2004
for the last few days i have been searching the various stores on the net for some nice maternity clothes, and decided on gap. the only gap that sells maternity clothes in los angeles is at the grove. fortunately it is about 15 minutes from my work in downtown los angeles, at least according to yahoo map. but took us more than 30 minutes to get there last night. i should know better to believe those lousy direction.
it was a really nice outdoor mall and made look like a small city, with all my favorite stores there, including a pottery barn kids. woohoo. yeah, it is expensive, but i still like to look at all the cute kiddie items. i was starving, so we had a nice dinner first at maggiano's little italy. afterwards, we strolled around and window shopped until we got to gap. i tried on a butch of clothes. maternity clothes made me look extra pregnant, even though i am only at little over 3 months. i decided on 4 outfits. we paid for them and also got a gift card for a couple friends who recently had a baby boy. i was really happy getting those maternity clothes, even though john "threatened" me not to buy any more clothes for a long long time. :) a lot of maternity clothes out there are so ugly and out of style. what are these people thinking? just because someone is pregnant and suddently gains a lot of weight, doesn't mean she has to wear ugly clothes.
we got home and watched "gothika". since john edward was with my parents, we could watch horror movie and not to worry about him. it was fine, not as scary as i hoped would be. and i have completely forgot that penelope cruz was in the movie too, whom i can not stand. oh well. but i do like "behind blue eyes" sang by limp bizkit in the movie.
productivity, the lack of
Monday, April 19, 2004
this morning at work i pretty much didn't do much except updating my blog and adding items onto my amazon/babies r us wish list. they are not really there for people to buy. well, if they want to, feel free :). but more to remind myself what i need to get. anyway, now i am off to lunch in 5 minutes.
sunday, sunday
Monday, April 19, 2004
it is sunny and beautiful, well not really beautiful, smoggy rather. but it is sunny, no more rains, for now at least. yay.
sunday morning we actually got to sleep in until past 8. john edward didn't wake up us at 7 like he usually did. then my dear hubby made some yummy pancake, eggs and ham, and we all had breaky in bed. thank you john, you are so sweet. that is why i love you. i intended to do something productive, but i ended falling asleep after breakfast for 2 hours. woke up from the sound of je's "little people" video. but it was a gooooood sleep.
we just bummed around house for the afternoon; played some computer games, some gamecube. sent je to nap around 1:30pm. after he woke up around 4:30. we all got ready to my uncle and aunt's 60th anniversary party at redondo beach. it was pretty good. got to catch up with relatives i have not seen for ages, ate a really yummy dinner, and took a lot of photos. before eating the cake, we all played a little game with some gifts the host and hostess provided. basically each family picked up a number from the bag. then the person had #1 was able pick up a gift first and opened it. if #2 liked that gift, he/she could take it away from #1, otherwise #2 picked his/her gift. if a gift had already gone to a third person who "steals" it, then the gift stayed with him/her. it was a fun little game to end the party.
it's a start
Saturday, April 17, 2004
i have decided to join all the bloggers out there. besides telling the world what is going on in my life. it is also about my 2nd pregnancy: the whole progress. after having our son four years ago, i am pregnant again. right now i am at 13 weeks. the due date is oct 21st. my gosh, this one is so different from the first. i crave different food, and i have a lot more morning sickness (it is more like day, afternoon, evening :) than the first. maybe it is a girl, we will see.
anyway, nothing is much happening right now. was going to take the little guy to the natural history musuem across from USC, but it was raining. did end of doing a lot of cleaning and laundry today. xinh also said she might drop by later, depends on how she feels.
tata for now.
