So much to do, so little time
Thursday, March 31, 2005

I started writing this post around 11ish, but didn't finish it until past midnight. HA.

John took yesterday (Wednesday) off, so we took the opportunity and had Anzac washed at U Wash Doggie at Pasadena. It was totally worth the $13 to wash Anzac there. No need to clean the bathtub afterwards if it's done at home, especially since Anzac is a long-haired, 70 lb dog. They provided everything: towels, shampoo, dryer, brush. Now he is clean and doesn't smell like a stink ball anymore.

Anyway, before John went to the doggie washer, He dropped me off at the Container Store in old town Pasadena, which was about 5 minutes from the doggie washer. I love, love, love that store. I got 2 bags of stuff. I would have gotten more if I could have carried the bags and pushed the stroller at the same time.

After dropping all the stuff and Anzac at home. We headed to Lowes and got some faucets for the bathroom and the kitchen. When we moved in to this place, all the faucets, lights were in this brass design. I can not STAND brass. So graduatly we have been changing all things that are brass. It's almost near the end.

We are going to San Diego for 3-day trip on Friday with the kids and my parents. Tomorrow I need to get some snacks to munch on while we are on the road, pack, clean the house, finish all the laundry, and drop Anzac off with the vet (he's getting shots at the same time). So much to do, so little time. Grrr.

And have I mentioned I love this SAHM gig? ;)

It's about time
Tuesday, March 29, 2005

If you find yourself getting pissed off with either yahoo or mapquest direction, google has launched its own map/direction. Check it out. It's very cool. I did a direction from our home to my parents, and it gave a local way to go there, which is the way we usually go. Unlike yahoo, always gives out freeway direction, even though it's 5 blocks away.

Happy St Patrick's Day
Thursday, March 17, 2005

I have totally forgotten what day it was this morning, hence JE went to school not wearing green. I'm bummed out. I purposely went and got him a green t-shirt.

I'm extremely sad that my F-I-L is gone. He is a good man and I like him a lot. I think it's a very conflicting situation for the livings. I miss him, but on the other hand, he's no longer in pain and suffering.

And I miss John. It's the first time we are separated this long since we were married. He will be back nice and early on Tuesday morning.

We told JE about his pop's death. I'm not sure if he understood it or not. He didn't cry, only asked "why?" But he was really upset when his daddy had to leave for a week. He has been really good, except Monday, the day after his dad left. It hasn't been too bad on me either. I have one pretty easy kid and one pretty easy baby. Except occasionally I would like someone to take over for a while, so I can take a breezer. I seriously do not know how those single moms do it!

I went and got a stair gate. John can install it when he gets back. Amber has started to roll around. Next thing we know she will crawl. So better install the gate now, then be sorry later.

And I found and went to a Super Walmart today. As much as I don't like walmart, it was pretty cool to be able to buy everything in one place. But I can only handle it on a weekday morning.

We got a call from my sister-in-law, John's younger sister this afternoon, my father-in-law past away this morning in his sleep.

John got flight out to Melbourne this evening, which leaves in about 35 minutes. He will be in Melbourne for a week to see his family and attend his dad's funeral.

What book am I?
Saturday, March 12, 2005

You're Compassion Fatigue!
by Susan Moeller
You used to care, but now it's just getting too difficult. You cared about the plight of people in lands near and far, but now the media has bombarded you with images of suffering to the point that you just don't have the energy to go on. You've become cold and heartless, as though you'd lived in New York City for a year or so. But you stand as a serious example to all others that they should turn off their TV sets and start caring again.
Take the Book Quiz at the Blue Pyramid.

This is sad. I have no idea today is Los Angeles Mayor election day, until I saw it on the news. I'm out of touch! Anyone is better than Hanh. He needs to be replaced.

I have been using Firefox as the default browser for a few months now. It's the best! It's better than Netscape, of course better than Internet Explorer (anything is better than IE). Firefox blocks everything! I mean everything. If you are not using it, I highly recommended it. Actually John kept telling me to use it, but took me about half a year to convert to Firefox.

Martha is out. And she's gonna have a reality show? But it seems she's still under hot water. WTF? Leave her alone already. I think Tim Allen said it best: "Boy, I feel safer now that Martha Stewart's behind bars. O. J. & Kobe are walking around; Osama Bin Laden too, but they take the one woman in America willing to cook, clean and work in the yard and haul her to jail."

The weekend + Monday
Monday, March 7, 2005

John was off on Friday, but instead of playing golf with Drew, we headed out to Anaheim to meet a few friends from Australia. They brought us more Tim-Tams and Shapes. Soooo good. Actually one of them, the son Mark was working in the animal sacatuary in San Antonio as an intern. He got offered a full-time position. Now he needed to go back to Australia to get his visa sorted out and probably will be back in a couple of months start this f/t job. He was really home-sick when he first got there, but he adapted pretty quickly, made friends. From the way he described his experiences, he sounded he really enjoyed his time there, both on and off work. We had lunch with them. Afterwards we went back to their hotel and chit-chatted. JE played a few board games with Mark. He really likes Mark. When it was time to go, he didn't want to leave. He cried and cried.

On Sunday we went to church, and John was hoping to score some more dollars for March of Dimes, but it didn't work out. My dad's friend was there from S.F., he invited us along for lunch. That was an interesting experience. He and his wife were staying in a hotel in Old Town Pasadena. Instead of telling us where it was located (even though we asked him before we left where his hotel and restaurant were), he was going in circles trying to find it. Finally he pulled over and told us the streets, we took him there in 2 minutes. Then took him another 10 minutes to get to the restaurant after picking up his wife, when it's located about 3 minutes from the hotel. Don't know why he didn't want to let us know the locations. We wasted about at least half an hour going around and around. When we got to the restaurant, it was closed. We ended up going to a different one near by. The food was really good. Because we went through the back, I have no idea what the name of the restaurant is. HAH.

Today also marked a very significant date. Today is the first day for kinder registration. Can you hear me screaming inside? I went to the school district office to get a registration package. It was pretty straight forward. Starting next Monday all the parents need to call in to make an appointment to finalize the registration process. I am sure JE will have no problem adjusting. I'm more nervous then He is. It seems to me it's really a big step. He is going to a real school, instead of in pre-school/day-care. Will save me a bundle of money at least. Yeah, right.

Is he or isn't he
Monday, February 28, 2005

While reading Tertia's post regarding husband's role in fatherhood, the fact whether one helps out with a new born baby or not, prompted me to think of John.

When JE was born five years ago, John was actually one who taught me how to change diapers, burp the baby, etc. He helped out taking care of his nephew and niece, so he was a pro with the baby thing. Both births he took two weeks off to help me out to go through the first tough part. Not that it gets easier after that. He was the one who always got up whenever the baby cried in the middle of the night. All I had to do was laid in bed and lifted up my shirt. :) He also takes over the child-caring duties on weekend and his day-offs, and lets me sleep in, even though he really needs the extra sleep himself. (He gets up at 5am on weekday to go to work.)

He does all the garden duties. I'm not just talking about mowing the lawn. He plants flowers also. He also spent a weekend to put pavers down in the yard with the help of a friend. He does everything I ask him to. Sometimes it might take a while, but he gets them done. During the first few years of our marriage, he did all the cookings. I didn't start cooking full time until this year. Yes, I'm spoiled.

So he is definetely a Paul, actually he's a Paul+. (if you read Tertis's post, you know what I'm talking about) I feel extremely lucky to have found you. Thank you John.
