Attention all X fans in Singapore. Kinokuniya is collecting orders for the X 2001 wall calendar now. Remember to place your order with the Japanese book counter, not the stationery counter which is accepting orders for Card Captor Sakura and Saiyuki (anime versions) calendars amongst others. Yui tasted blood at 02:02 p.m.(Wednesday, September 19, 2001) Ammie!! Welcome to the blogworld! Yes dear, you certainly took your own sweet time. But thanks all the same. *hugs Lika* Ammie, my Subaru *angst* awaits your arrival. Sat-chan, your blog is pretty. Though I still maintain that my cat, Loki, is prettier than yours. At least my precious has more attitude. Occasionaly, I nickname him "Sakurazumamori". None of my other cats can beat him in a serious fight, and I've got the fang scars on my leg to prove it. Yui tasted blood at 06:47 a.m.(Wednesday, September 19, 2001) A few days back I tried to email a pal whom I knew was supposed to be in the Boston area at the time, and was getting seriously worried when there was no word from him. Thank goodness, he's finally contacted me tonight, safe, stuck in the States, luggage lost, and wearing the same stuff he had on Monday. Today must be a good day for hearing from friends. Yui tasted blood at 10:12 p.m.(Saturday, September 15, 2001) I ought to feel guilty for not having called anyone. *hugs Lika* It was a pleasant surprise to hear your voice this morning. Sorry if I sounded a little off initially. Mornings do that to me. By the way, I was a little disappointed when you didn't propose to me over the phone. Just kidding. ^_^ Yui tasted blood at 01:43 p.m.(Saturday, September 15, 2001) My email addy has changed (see bottom left). Please take note. The old one will still be functional for 6 months at least though. Yui tasted blood at 12:13 a.m.(Saturday, September 15, 2001) The events of the morning of September 11 (US time) were a sobering experience. I don't think anyone, with the exception of the perpetrators, could claim to have forseen such an incident on a such massive scale. While I'm not an American, I do come from an island nation that is no bigger than a mere dot on any world map, and I have learned to never to take the security and peace of my country for granted. And more than ever, I am truly beginning to appreciate the exhortations of my own government to never let our guard down. My heart goes out to those who died, and especially those who have to live through the tragic and unnecessary loss of lives. What I can now hope for is that the people in power would remain calm and not let anger blind them into making a hasty, and ultimately regrettable, decision. I fully agree that the method adopted by the terrorists is nothing short of evil. However, one must be careful to never stoop to the level of the terrorists. For violence begets violence, and should an innocent nation or group of people be wrongly punished, the repercussions will be unimaginable. Furthermore, the definition of states who are "harbouring" the perpetrators should be considered very carefully. Does the mere fact that the terrorists have free movement within Country A mean that Country A is guilty of harbouring and supporting their activities? The answer is NO. If one examines the situation carefully, most analysts have agreed that the coordinated attack took months to prepare and that the terrorists (of which there were 3-5 aboard each flight, thus giving an average total of 16) must have been done a lot of studying on the ground level. That means that the terrorists must have been travelling to and from, if not staying in, US soil for quite some time. And yet, US, with its sophisticated intelligence machinery, had failed to detect their movements. Can the US be guilty of harbouring those terrorists prior to the attack? Certainly not! Can a group of nations at constant state of suspicion about their immediate neighbouring countries' intent, where their own citizens look no different from neigbouring travellers and spies, with regular power struggles within their own upper echelons, and regular skirmishes with various rebel groups within their own countries afford to keep track of every single terrorist group that operate within or pass through their borders? It is certainly something worth considering. Most importantly, even if the chief apparatus of a particular nation is really guilty of harbouring the criminals, not every citizen of that country is guilty of being a terrorist. Target the perpetrators, yes, but there is certainly little is to be gained, and much more to lose, by killing more innocents. Yui tasted blood at 11:28 p.m.(Wednesday, September 12, 2001) Finished my Gingetsu/Ran Clover fic for Kristin last night. Not exactly waff, but Gingetsu is hardly a waffy-type character. Yui tasted blood at 06:56 a.m.(Tuesday, September 11, 2001) Talking about that movie, could anyone who is (or has ever been) in Japan kindly suggest where's the best place for me to hunt for the merchandise, since I'll be in Tokyo in November? Does Animate cover movie product tie-ins as well? I'm seeing stars. Yui tasted blood at 12:51 p.m.(Monday, September 10, 2001) Lika, that was a mighty long rant. *quivers* So, should I be expecting you in Singapore, or not? *pushes Ran forward* Here's your tea-maker. His blond-haired friend will be back in a while with the warm blankets. Take care. Anyone reading the Tohan edition of the Chinese X mangas? There is a distinct drop in paper quality for my copy of X16. It's more like Tongli quality now; no more smooth pristine-white surfaces like in the previous volumes. What's wrong with them? Recessionary cutbacks? Blah! Or perhaps Sei-chan just hates me. Yui tasted blood at 11:52 a.m.(Saturday, September 8, 2001) I'm really curious to see this. Kinokuniya has been splashing special displays of books/mangas/periodicals related to Abeno Seimei in response to the upcoming movie in Japan. If you're not aware yet, Abeno Seimei is the most prominent onmyouji in Japanese history, and the movie, Onmyoji, is about him. Look, they've even got those cool pentacles that looks exactly like the ones that belong to Subaru. Yui tasted blood at 04:31 p.m.(Wednesday, September 5, 2001) Current guilty pleasure. An utterly crazy anime spoof called Trouble Chocolate. If it is this funny in the passable Mandarin dub, I can't imagine how my innards will be splitting with the original Japanese voices. The big question then is: why aren't there any decent sites for this anime? I mean you have parodies of Ah! My Goddess, Power Rangers, Pokemon, melodramatic shoujo love stories, fighter pilot, rich bishounen brat, cute little alien mascot, sorceror, vampire, evil old man on wheelchair, biseinen teachers willing to provide fan service, a most (mis)matched yaoi couple, characters with food names and some of the funniest gags etc. all coming together in a school setting that can easily rival that of CLAMP campus. What more could one ask for? Yui tasted blood at 11:01 p.m.(Monday, September 3, 2001) I've added a review of the X OVA to my shrine. Thanks to Duckroll. Yui tasted blood at 09:12 p.m.(Sunday, September 2, 2001) Which Tony Leung would that be? There are two, and I vaguely recall Leslie having a kissing scene with the shorter one in a movie. As you can see, I'm not really into Hong Kong movies. Most of them stink, and I strongly believe that watching too many HK movies can kill one's braincells. My younger brother is a good example, or maybe that's the WWF on TV that's causing it. *shrugs* Anyway, my Subaru isn't appearing until your Kamui does. Yui tasted blood at 06:52 p.m.(Saturday, September 1, 2001) Checked with Kristin, and we both agree that it is very likely a mistranslation on page 83 of the Chinese X16. Someone in the CFFML just issued a "Sei-chan as uke" fic challenge. Most obvious possibility for seme is naturally Fuuma, but how about one with *gasp* Kusanagi? Tree-lover with Sakura-guardian. How perfect. *gets bricked on all sides* Hey, Leslie Cheung has apparently admitted that he's gay. Doesn't that whet your yaoish appetite further? Yui tasted blood at 08:45 p.m.(Friday, August 31, 2001) X16 in Chinese is finally on sale now. Yui tasted blood at 02:01 p.m.(Thursday, August 30, 2001) Hope you'll be able to fix up your blogout problem soon. I know how it feels to replace a file by accident. >_< Thanks for recommending "Master and Slave". Unfortunately, it's meant to be a oneshot. So no sequels. Besides, I'll leave it to the you to imagine what Beast, Satsuki and Yuuto might be up to together. *smirk* We are apparently still lacking a Sorata and an Aoki. Why are those two characters the most difficult to fill in any RPG? Do CLAMP fans have an inherent bias against faithful straight guys? Yui tasted blood at 09:22 p.m.(Wednesday, August 29, 2001) Time for a new layout. Meet Yui, resident vampire. I sense my Miyu hiding behind the screen.
