Ok, I finally attended a cosplay con for the first time, and, while this might seem harsh, $10 for the Miyuki thingie is a real "con" (the type that goes with "job"). The event ought to be held at Fengshan Community Centre or some other PA location to keep costs low. I mean, there's nothing in it for attendees who are not dressing up and yet we're being forced to cough up good money. There were no skits or forums; just cosplayers hanging around to be photographed. The entire thing was really amateurishly organised, consisting mainly of the MC screaming into the microphone as loudly as possible on the pretence of being cute.

And, oh yes, Xandra and I laughed our heads off at this line in the leaflet distributed to all attendees. It was listed under etiquettes for cosplayers: Please refrain from any publick display of undesirable behaviours, such as vulgarities or homosexuality. No wonder the Fuuma cosplayer was wandering around alone and looking really dejected.

On to more pleasant things, I finally saw Lord of the Rings. Poor Gimli, reduced to a silly sidekick. I suspect that Aragorn and Legolas were ganging up to put him into impossible situations because the unwitting dwarf has been interrupting their private moments together. Legolas, on the other hand, got all the coolest lines and moves in the movie. That elf has got to be made of teflon -- nothing (mud/grime/blood) sticks to him.

I was very disappointed too. But I don't subscribe to Hana To Yume and so have no idea how the calendar would look like. I know Matsushita-sensei can be inconsistent and lazy at times, but I certainly did not expect this. The thick lips and strong chins are more of Ellie Mamahara's style. But I'm pretty sure it is not a doujinshi. I do hope this is not the direction the manga is taking. The shinigamis are popular precisely because they're so delicate-looking.

Just collected my Yami no Matsuei postcard desktop calendar from Kino. The picture half of each month can be detached for use as a postcard. Incidentally, either Matsushita Youko left everything to her assistants, or her art style has changed A LOT over the past year. I can barely recognise the characters, especially all the shinigamis.

Seduction Method: Loveless

Kouga Yun's Loveless is out now in Chinese. Shota isn't usually my cup of tea, but Soubi x Ritsuka is just too cute to pass. Yes, Ritsuka is in elementary school. There's quite a fair bit of shounen-ai subtexts, like Soubi wanting Ritsuka to pierce his (Soubi's) ears as a mark of Ritsuka's ownership over him. Apparently, the characters in Loveless's world are born with cat's ears and tails, but lose them once they lose their virginity. Therefore, I wonder if Soubi and his many-earringed (and cat-earless) roommate has something going on too. But I'm still very confused about how the battle partnership system works. Presumably, Soubi is the "attack", while Ritsuka is the one absorbing any damages (kind of like a kage-nie in X...anyway, feel free to make your own seme/uke jokes). Anyone with Zero-Sum to enlighten me?
