the quest for god is pointless because in the end it only leads to a man dressed up in a bunny suit.

i might be living in a new place a month from today. i might start sharing an apartment, which is within walking distance of my school, with someone at work. 0 a month for santa monica really ain't so bad and there's a washer and dryer and other things of convenience. the living room is big and has new furniture. the bedroom is pretty small, but i figure that i'm not going to be in there as much as i am at my current place, hiding to avoid my roommate's guests, psychiatry clients, tarot card classes, and her experimental soups. i'd actually want to go into the livingroom at the new place. change is good sometimes, but it still makes me nervous just like everything else does.

not to dwell on it, but here's a link to the article i referenced below about universal records funding gsl.

i was woken up from a five hour sleep this morning with a phone call from someone in my english lit class wanting to go over chaucer stuff for our test tomorrow. i'm still not sure what i'm going to write about and i need to study, but i'm procrastinating. i got some things accomplished today though.

1) i washed and vacuumed my car.

2) i checked last night's lotto numbers against mine only to find out i did not win my share of the million that i would be splitting with everyone at work.

3) i went to home depot to get a replacement halogen bulb for my lamp which burned out last night. the lines were fucking insane, so i just wound up stealing the bulb and not feeling bad about it at all.

4) i got credit at tower records for a dvd i ordered from towerrecords.com that i had them replace because i told them it never came. it's a good scam, you should try it some time.

5) i got of food and stuff at costco: coffee, sobe--12 bottles of, soda--24 cans of, cucumber yogurt stuff, freshly baked bread with roased garlic--2 loaves of, mandarin oranges--6 cans of, and raviolis.

6) i watched three episodes of the it factor on bravo and i thank the old easter bunny in the sky that i'm not trying to make it as an actor.

7) it just started raining.

the "calendar" section of the l.a. times featured an interview with two slimy looking record execs who were "brought back together" (hurrah!!) when they signed omar and cedric from atdi's new band the mars volta to their yet unnamed universal records subsidiary label. it's quite a tearjerker of an article, beleive you me. is it common knowledge that gsl records is funded by universal records? it's news to me. is anyone bothered by that? apparently, monte lipman, president of universal "stepped in and sweetened the deal (the mars volta bidding war), including funding for (omar) rodriguez's independent label gsl records."

talking about their subsidiary label, the industry slime said:

"the opportunity that has been presented to us is incredible. doug and monte (universal president and chairman, duh!) would really like to have a young, stealth kind of a&r staff that finds great artists and focuses on the record making process, and then it's our job to run them through the universal system."

major labels are the bees knees, aren't they? it must be so rewarding to be a musician whose music is "run through the universal system." make sure to be on the lookout for stealthy fourty year olds at indie shows with star tattoos on their forearms and dyed black hair courting bands with promises of underage girls and heroin. this means you, blood brothers.
