taking out the trash
*dusts off hands* after visiting sites that are chalk-full of garbage links (the ones that go to no longer existing pages) i thought i'd click on some of my long time links for this blog. ugh!! i didn't notice till now but most of them are broken/garbage links. i actually don't mind the kind that just says the page can't be found... which is why i just left them as is.
but i truly detest the "this-domain-name-is-still-available plus pop-up warzone" ones ...
so i got rid of those.

stingy me
as you know, i'm not a follower of clamp's current series tsubasa & xxxholic. it's possibly due to a lack of the info that i need to spark any of my interest. so far i can't find many up-to-date sites that: provide translations/summaries to let me know about the stories, neither are there great pic galleries to attract the eye.
i seriously wonder if i'd like x today if it weren't for the several good x sites that fed me scanned images and detailed info on the story. it's because of those x fansites that i became a fan too and bought the books. and so unfortunately for clamp (who have a policy against scanning of their material and displaying them online), i'm not one of those people to spend $$ on series i don't know if i'll like.

onto something related...
tsubasa: the land of cameos
so as i mentioned above, i haven't been following tsubasa. but just yesterday (which is really late considering when it was posted) i read that another x character has made an appearance in the series....
it's seishirou

but he looks different than from his x universe self. firstly he's *alive* (@ least as far as i can tell... i don't think he's a ghost) and younger. oddly he drawn with one eye missing -> (which is funny for me to say since those who know seishirou from tb/x wouldn't find that odd @ all) but like i said, he's younger. i'm guessing seishirou's a teenager in tsubasa, cause he reminded me of how he looked when he made the "bet" with a child subaru. and those familiar with the assasin know that he looses his eye as an adult.

another surprise is the appearance of Oruha, surprising because she's from clover. although i sigh unhappily about the lack of new x installments, clover fans have it worse.
i remember almost exactly a year ago when kuu and i went to an anime convention. although kuu wasn't there for the clamp panel discussion (and me strongly thinks i shouldn't of been there either -> *stops here from going off on a tangent*), someone there mentioned how clover was different from the rest of clamp's series in terms of cross-over stuff. that clover didn't appear in other series the way, for example, piffle princess (a store in angelic layer, x & lawful drug... could be in more) does. it was kinda true, unlike series like chobits (<- sumomo is in tsubasa too), until now. so now i know that clamp really doesn't see clover as its black-sheep child, but that it's part of the clamp series family, cross-references and all.

difference of opinion
just finished watching american idol, cause i like events where judging is part of the fun... like figure skating, and i hafta say that no judge really represents my tastes in music. sometimes when they praise, i think "huh, that's inspiring? really?" and at times when they criticize i think "i kinda liked it". it just makes me wish i was a judge, especially in today's show where i could've told Cowell that he made a corny song choice.

little movie chat
  • i still haven't figured out if i want to see Troy or not, don't know how to decide
  • Shrek 2 is coming out and i want to see that *adds to list*
  • saw a Harry Potter commercial, and harry seems very grown up with the way he does his spell casting. oh and why did i have to be spoiled on what big thing happened in book 5?

    lemme get out my violin
it's kinda sad that, instead of embracing new series, i cling onto old ones. and what makes it sad is:
that you notice more and more people are no longer writing new fics or completing old ones, and also many fansites are either no longer updated or just plain gone.
ow! the pain of it all owwie!! that hurts. i guess some might suggest that the only solution to this dilemma is to find new series to like and move on. to this i say: what? and repeat the cycle as these new series become old?? ~u^
my selfish "the world needs to change, not me" mentality would rather have these fleeting fans wake up one day and resume where they left off. oh that'd be great! hee hee! they'd be subjects to my whim

    it's been awhile
i've been in a lazy mood as of late, don't wanna blog or do much of anything. hmm... reading your blog, kuu, and i think you're right about Coke being sweeter than Pepsi... which is why i like it more. ^u^
just another example of how you and i like different things.

    movie talk: overKill Bill
take Kill Bill vol.2 for instance. though at times i found it amusing, i felt that volume one was more entertaining.
vol.2 was a lot of blah blah blah and not enough action. also, unfortunately, the ending was too odd and dull for me. i noticed that most critics have the opposite point of view, thinking that vol.2 was better than vol.1, and only a few thought as i (am i that strange of mind?).

i'd say that kill bill vol.1 was sorta mindless without much of a plot and just a mesh of borrowed styles. and though at times it's quite entertaining, borrowing the good parts of other movies is a cheap thing to do. quentin should develop new shots and effects that are neat. oh and the dvd taught me that he has strange taste in music (remember that japanese band i told ya about?)

it is after the dissappointment of vol.2 that i now appreciate vol.1 eye candy much more. i could say more about the 2 volumes but i don't want to spoil anything for the rare lurker, that and i'm too lazy to talk bout specifics.
since i can't think of more to say i'll include...
a list of movies i wanna watch:
  • mean girls (sounds interesting)
  • troy (well i do and i don't)
and finally... soo excited and i hope not to be disappointed
  • prisoner of azkaban (june 4th!!!! can't wait)

comments: a kinda made up the subject of this layout as i went along, but basically it shows daisuke being admired by a crowd and i stuck some hearts here and there on the page. one thing i'd like to mention is the title of this layout, gambatte. now i'm not sure if that's the correct spelling, it could be ganbatte but i liked the "m" better than the "n" for this particular word. one might also notice that the title really has nothing to do with daisuke, i just chose it arbitrarily. ^u^
