clover
being terrible, i just read the scans for the 4 clover books and... i find them horrible.
how sad is that. i wished i liked them but i can't.
the constant repetition of song lyrics i believe makes up most of the writing
i get this empty feeling from the plot. for me, not much happens for the first 2 books. it's confusing too, since the backstory is explained afterwards.
the characters are empty and dull themselves. in a way, i don't hate them because i don't know them. still i guess it's fair to say that i don't care for the female characters. suu doesn't make sense to me. as for oruha she's like a cross between karen and kanoe. which is strange because i like karen and kanoe but i don't like her. why? because her name doesn't begin with a k.
ha ha! no i'm kidding. it could be because, unlike karen and kanoe, oruha is a girlfriend /love interest character. i'm the type that can like a character yet might not if this character is in a romantic relationship; because in that case i have different standards. i don't mind her boyfriend kazuhiko, but i don't think oruha fits as the girl he loves. also it'd be nice if she wore clothes more often ya know. not much to say about the guys, they're sorta typical. actually it's funny, but i like bulz. he's definitely a psyco-sicko but at least he's not dead (personality wise) and the plot gets going when he appears (same can't be said for the rest).
the clover story is very vacuous. i know it's not complete but it really feels lacking. of the 4 i would recommend the 4th one, i'd say that book is not bad, is it cause i like ran? still overall i'm disappointed and i wish i never read them. from synopses i read long ago, i had a vague understanding of the plot and what i vaguely imagined was different and better to me.
oh well, c'est la vie.

just a quick postie
hey kuu!!
noticed you were talking about manga and i came across a manga publisher site. i know, you're thinking so what right? well one of the books reminds me of a series you told me about some time way back. was it this series or another bakery series? ^u^ i really don't know. and kuu, this beauty is the beast comic, it's the one featured in your layout right? what's it about? i must admit i've no clue. is it something like beauty and the beast? sorry i'm brimming with curiousity, it's just that lately i've been doing some catch up in manga reading. cheerio!

a review
since not much has been happening i thought i should do some little movie reviews for the following:
the interpreter
ocean's twelve
revenge of the sith
bridget jones 1 & 2
the interpreter
i'm somewhat disappointed with this film as my expectations were pretty high. i wouldn't go as far as to say that it's a terrible film but truly the story wasn't as complicated and intriguing as i hoped. the best part is the backdrop provided by the UN building, reminds me of its use in a hitchcock film; north by north west i believe. i'm sure many other people would enjoy this film more. i recognize the good points of this film, but all in all, a feeling of deflated enthusiasm wins out.
ocean's twelve
it's not very good. the plot is confusing and the whole heist was not a work of creative genius. without giving too much away there was a competing thief and really he was much better than the rest. i mean @ least his attempt of thievery wasn't cheap. ocean's eleven miles better.
revenge of the sith
the last episode of star wars to be released, and while not the best (aka the empire strikes back) i would call it a fun experience. thinking back i would say that my favourite scene is @ the beginning with R2 hiding in the docking bay. it was quite funny and best of all, it had the comedic feeling of the original triology. i think this film fails as a serious drama, with the dialog and acting only worthy of soaps *snap!*, but as a noisy, flashy adventure... it was fun.
bridget jones 1 & 2
you know watching these films makes me want to go to london and see how it's really like. ok now for some comments about the films. i'll start with the 2nd one and say that it's quite a wacky film. that stuff in thailand... very gimmicky. and too bad but i'm not a fan of how their relationship was played out. not romantic and a little sleazy. it wasn't all bad since the part @ the lawyer's (they should of stuck with the british use of barrister) dinner was nice to look at. i would love to attend such a gala, even if the people are strangely bland and have a weird sense of what constitutes a fun line of game questions. oh and the fighting was as ridiculous as last time (ridiculous in a good way). i had forgotten the first film and when i saw it again, i realize it's much better. darcy isn't unlikeable in the 2nd film, but i like him so much better in the 1st. also when i think about it, the daniel cleaver character really does like bridget jones. too bad he's scum and doesn't know how to be any different.
ok no more boring movie recaps/reviews. i should add that i've noticed bridget jones 2 and ocean's twelve seem to be examples of where the sequel can't live up to the greatness of the original. too bad really.
bye-bye for now!

a tiny exercise
while i ponder what i shall attempt in way of a new layout, i took on an infinitely more simplier venture: create a little avatar piccie. i would of called it my lj icon (it's i think of the same dimensions), however my bloggie isn't a livejournal.
this is the nosey character polly perkins from sky captain and the world of tomorrow. reason for my character choice: i love the hat.
as a user pic i'm aware that it's incredibly plain, in that it isn't really an exercise in photoshop redesigning. but even so, i think adding anything extra would make it look too busy, right? OuO *wonders what kuu thinks*
