You have a Lost Soul. No one is really sure what
that can always mean, because it can be defined
in many ways. As Legend goes, lost souls were
the spirits of passed away people who are
neither in heaven nor hell. They walk the
earth, brooding mysteriously, always appearing
when you expect it least. So hence, if you have
a Lost Soul, then you are probably very
insecure and shy. Stuck in your own little box,
you watch the world fly by as a loner. You dont
know your place. You seemingly dont have a
place in society or an interest. You are a very
capricious person, and are confused and
frustrated about where you belong. You crave
for the sense and feeling of home-but have not
obtained it yet.

i somely swear that i'm up to no good (redux)
so finally here is a little review that i've wanted to do on the prisoner of azkaban.
prior to my film viewing, one thing i'd noticed from the trailers was this film's dreary/dull appearance. i felt a little worrisome about this change as i wondered if the film would seem less magical due to it. after seeing this film, i'd say that it's less fairytale~ish magical, in that things appear much more realistic... though still magical. i gather from the reviews of others that many prefer this new sense of realism. the world of harry potter has less of the fun & delight of exploring an amusement park, and instead is now a place filled with many dangers which one should venture with caution. actually this increasing sense of danger is conveyed in the chamber of secrets (COS) but with vibrancy, and now the 3rd movie is more toned down & natural. so it may seem odd that i consider the 2nd film to be darker (not literally so) than the 3rd, but let's not forget that atmosphere and story work hand-in-hand.
so let's talk story:
i suppose having not read the book and seeing the film will lend me a different view than others. from this position i felt that film three had less of an over-shadowing evil presence than film two. i wouldn't say that the movie makes light of the possible presence of Black and consequently the dementors, just that it wasn't enough for me to find the characters' in great peril. which is why COS seems darker, as the villain seems closer with the sound of voices, victims and the unknown identity of the enemy. this is missing with Black, as i hardly thought that he was around *needs more than ripped paper*, and i'd say there should be more dementors, like "they're around every corner and stalking you" more. another thing about the story is that the ending could of been less rushed, for the few like me who are trying to understand this stuff as it's unveiled on screen. POA is shorter than the other two so it wouldn't hurt to extend its length.
anyways i really enjoyed this movie

there were several moments which i really enjoyed, such as the quidditch match and the train scene. i even stayed for the credits... not because there was something extra @ the end of it all, but out of some kiddie joy/glee that came from how the credits were presented. draco malfoy was a surprisingly funny character; i like the "bloody chicken" line very much. as for prof. lupin, he's the kind of professor i'd love to be my magic mentor. i don't want to say much else, less i spoil too much, just that i'm so glad that it wasn't a disaster. i wanna like all the harry potter films.
and what's interesting is that i've talked to people who've read the book and admire how the script condensed the material so well. so i'm seriously thinking that i should read Book 4 before its film version... *pondering*
anyways on to reading book 3... and for those who haven't, visit
here. cheerio!!

overcoming laziness
well i did say soon and i was wrong in saying that. i could delete the previous entry and start this all over. but for now @ least, i'll keep it since i haven't been blogging much this month. that's the problem with waiting for the right mood to strike before bothering to put down one's thoughts. it explains why i don't keep a real diary, for though it'd be nice to reminisce, remembering and writing my day's experience daily is too much of an effort.
if i was a great fanfic writer, i'm thinking i may disappoint readers with my sparse progress.
though i did manage a few days ago to fix that annoying font problem i had when viewing this page with mozilla. oh and just yesterday i added a new button way down @ the bottom ^U^

some movie banter
so right now i'm hoping that i'll love the new harry potter film when i see it. i want to like more films, and i feel bad for cynical critics whose jobs are to watch hours of what they consider trash. some should lighten up. i think i'm too soft to be a critic, though there are times that films are praised widely.. and i feel otherwise.
been reading reviews for films i've just seen like Troy and Shrek2, and i felt i'd give a mini review of my own.
Shrek2:
it's been about a week since i saw this one and it's not that fresh in my mind. of what i can recall, i felt that it was fun and looked great. but since i was sitting way too close (2nd row from the front) it seemed blurry and was hard to take all the visuals in. plot wise i feel this was more interesting than the original Shrek. the setting provided a lot of jokes made in reference to hollywood & fairytales. though the first Shrek might actually be more funny. and i really liked the song sung by one of the characters at the end, t'was energetic to hear. to add a touch of sourness to my critique... Shrek2 didn't quite meet my expectations. but then again so few hyped films do.
now onto Troy...
Troy:
i'd give this movie a passing mark, not cause it's not without huge flaws but because i was never really bored with it. but let's talk about the flaws.
the developing
romances in this film were cheap, sleazy and idiotic.
Paris&Helen was pretty lame, but with that being the case, the film cleverly steers away from the original and replaces the whole Helen: "the face that launched a thousand ships" to a simple matter of power. a critic of the Globe&Mail described this romance with:
"Alas, they make for an awfully tepid twosome -- the chemistry between them wouldn't start a Bunsen burner, let alone a war."
and any flings involving Achilles only makes me ill and wish this film would change the entire plot involving the Hector & Achilles fight. i only really liked Hector (who by the way looks much better than Paris), everyone else i either hate or don't care much for. The action is pretty good and @ times amusing. But really a story about the Trojan War should be better. i'd say their biggest mistake is leaving out the gods and goddesses. these divine players were interesting schemers, and would make some of the human's actions more plausible. without them, the plot is plagued with idiots making the worst choices whether its tactical, moral, romantic, or personal.
