half blooded, check it and
see, I got a fever of a hundred and three
hello! i've been prodded to post, does someone not like looking @ my mamo~chan? ^u^
see this entry's title? i twisted the lyrics for the song
hot blooded, don't ask what possessed me to do that. somehow the song came into my head :)
anyhoo the title should clue people in to what i'm gonna talk bout: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
first i want to congratulate myself in reading this book being spoiled-free!! way to go, myself!! the trick for this comes with 2 little words: internet quarantine (stayed away like it had the plague!!) -- and let us not forget that threatening of a family member to keep yap shut is vital.
i hate to do this (makes my bloggy look like an area 51 government report), but I'm going to make the extra effort and blackout the rest of my post due to spoilers. okay then, just highlight to read:
i won't be too detailed and instead just spew out inane things that give a semblance of my twisty thoughts:
draco is so loveable. so nice to see what a sweetheart he really is. he's one of the best things in HBP and i find the most emotional moment of the book to be the battle between draco and harry. "wow!" to both that scene and the incredible cheesiness of what i have written ^u^;;
but you see, one has to read it for themselves and know nothing that is to come to understand what a moment it was!
tonks and lupin!!! together!!! the horror!!! if i was scriptwriter for the HP movies "oh! she would be soooo cut".
ronald weasley is a Cad and a whiny baby.
hermione is an annoying, jealous, nay-sayer.
harry doesn't need either of these jokers, at least not unless those two shapen up.
romances that i don't mind happening (this does NOT include tonks&lupin though same criticisms apply) weren't written all that well. things occurred too suddenly and didn't have sufficient cause.
i may be an idiot, but i believe in ya snape.
la la! i know what i wrote wasn't much/good... especially when i thought this book was not so bad -- much much better than the 5th. feelin' lazy to write decent stuff, but as you can tell by my flagrant use of exclamation points: i strongly think these things.
toodles for now! may edit this junk of a post later,
i certainly should but no promises.
[Edit] hi, this is a continuation of what i wrote earlier. now that i've more time to contemplate this story, the more mixed i feel about it. generally, plot wise it was well done, and i'll leave it at that. HOWEVER, there are things that seriously tick me off about this book!!! so excuse me while i rant to my blog and expand what i wrote yesterday:
tonks & lupin: i have not adequately expressed how super ticked off i am about this.
i like lupin and i don't like tonks at all! she's trying to be this "oh i'm hip", "oh i'm with it", annoying weirdo. can you believe that after the death of a family member, she has the nerve to look fatally depressed because lupin won't go out with her!! hello heartless woman! can't believe i felt sorry for you, thinking that sirius' death was what made you look like crap. i don't have a problem with lupin being with someone, just why her?! sheesh, i'm sparked with outrage @ the "i told you so" comments out there in forum land. it's bedlam. how could anyone see that coming? *thinks to self "these guys were on drugs that's why"*
i know i'll be embarrassed by what i have just written. big apologize to unlikely&unfortunate reader. i'm in a ranting mood. i've been provoked!

here's another point of contention: hermione and ron are horrible, maybe that's what makes them destined for one another. i don't like those two, i don't care about those two. i love them in the movies and detest them in the books.
this book has too much snogging going on. what did they put in the water @ hogwarts? those kids will kiss anyone with no real reason. my conclusion: ms. rowling screwed up this romance business. harry and ginny could of been carried out reasonably. but no, let's make the whole thing rushed and cheap. i am highly disappointed about that, plain and simple.
*phew* goodie, i'm done my irritating, cathartic spiel. feelin' better now. have a nice day folks!

hey kuu! that picard song is really catchy. i like it!
oh you got iruka sensei as your naruto guy huh? don't worry, that's a good result. he's somewhat of a minor character at this point, but a good, sensible, likeable guy (everyone's type of person, right?) that teaches kids how to be ninjas.
as for your question, i don't read naruto; instead i watch it. i think it's better since the manga artwork isn't so fancy that the anime cheapens the look; plus the fighting scenes are better in action. so far, i've seen all episodes up to 141... and it's still going. i've just recently heard of bleach -- good things -- and maybe i should take your suggestion and look into it. i see that people who like naruto like bleach too.
outta curiosity, have you been still keeping up with dnangel? it's still running right? reason why i'm curious is that i recently saw some images with this new character that i don't recognize at all.
it's funny, i didn't even know you were on a trip. a bus tour? how asian of you! ^_~
good that you had fun!

look @ me, I'm dangerous
i took a Naruto "What is Your Fighting Stats" quiz and these are the results:

a little explanation of these stats, where the values range from 1 to 5:
Speed: self explanatory (though i don't think it affects your hand seal speed); i'm average
Stamina: again no explanation needed; not bad! i should point out that with high stamina you have a larger pool of chakra. chakra is the spiritual energy of your body that is expended to perform jitsu. with severly low chakra you won't be able to move and without it @ all, you die. so if you have tons of chakra, you can perform your techniques multiple times. this helps make up for certain stats like speed (as you can try, try again) and being not too smart (as you have the opportunity to learn from your mistakes).
Seal:
the ability to create hand seals.
Hand seals are making signs with your hands. The seals consist of mixing and matching the basic oriental 12 astrological signs - Rat, Bull, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar. you make these to activate certain skills call "jitsu" (practically the same as "jutsu"), which are fighting arts. so my being a seal master (5 baby!) means that i can quickly and effectively activate jitsu skills. however, a good seal stat doesn't necessarily mean that you have strong and effective jitsu abilities. so for example, i could have a lousy jitsu that turns my hand slightly blue. not very helpful, but high seal stat means i can activate this ability with ease. this ability is really helpful if you have made pacts with strong magical creatures which you can summon to do the fighting for you.
Ninjutsu:
this is the art practiced by the ninjas of feudal Japan. In the Naruto world, ninjutsus are like magic tricks where you can make yourself disappear or turn sexy, or clone yourself and it works by forming hand seals. unlike naruto, who i suspect has a 5, quiz says i'm pathetic @ this. this sucks because most of the basic to bomb-tastic skills fall into this category. that means no great elemental magic attacks for me.
Taijutsu:
can be called Body Art and is a term used to describe hand-to-hand combat including the use of weapons. No hand seals are required for Taijutsu as you only have to depend on your strength and speed. that means my high taijutsu stat is tempered by my lack of strength and so-so speed. i interpret this 5 as having the skills that best utilizes my speed and strength to its fullest capacity. based on my made up calculations, someone with a 3 taijutsu, 4 speed and 4 strength could be defeated by one of my great taijutsu skills because 5*(3+2)=25 while 3*(4+4)=24. although my calcs doesn't take into consideration the conflict if there are advantages of speed over strength or vice versa. is it better to be fast or strong? if you're very fast maybe you'd hardly get hit and maybe you'd land multiple hits, but if someone is strong enough, only one hit is needed for KO. unlike this quiz, in many videogames there's a luck stat which i think factors in.
Genjutsu:
Genjutsu in the Naruto world is a kind of technique to attack your enemy by casting illusions. For example, making them believe they are attacked by a hoard of tigers or showing them illusions of their comrades falling. Genjutsus are also activated by hand seals.
this is a killer skill as seen by Itachi, it destroys your opponents mental state making them pudding if they don't escape. the trick to escaping/dispelling is often self inflicted pain to snap yourself out of it.
Intelligence: it's how smart you are, specifically how clever a strategist you are. if there is one stat that you want high it's this one. afterall, what good is strength if you're dumb enough to rush into an obvious trap? it's obvious the more powerful skills you have, the better. but the trick is knowing the weaknesses of the other when choosing what skill to use, especially if your stamina is low. so if you have an amazing fire technique, you need to recognize not to bother trying it and wasting your chakra if your opponent can eat/absorb fire.
Strength: whether you watch Naruto or not, you know what this is about. I should note that I don't believe this stat to be as important as it may sound. what's great about it is that if you suck @ majic/spell techniques, this really helps your Taijutsu. and as rock lee exemplifies (love ya rocky), you can still be a great ninja even if you can /only/ do physical ninjutsu attacks.
not worthy of hall of fame but 10 times better than what i was expecting. if anyone actually read this whole thing (in it's entirety with no scanning), big thankies!

commentary
honestly, my reviewing skills suck in comparison to others on amazon.com (those 10 yr old harry potter fans are way more eloquent than myself; the shame of it all!) and, of course, the pros on rottentomatoes.com
still practice makes perfect so maybe i'll do my pathetic version of a review later. for now, i give you this Howl's Moving Castle critique that sums up many of the complaints i have, though i'm not that harsh, but with tons of snark. love that part with the zombie comment! as soon as i read it, i was thinking "exactly!". it's a
fun read with tons of "you said it" moments for me, so read it folks!!
