I'm on a furious kick lately with the gay links, I know I know. But THIS one blows my mind. I'd like to include the following quote: "I agree that it's time to end the silence about homosexuality, which is an unsafe lifestyle. Did you know that sexually transmitted diseases like hepatitis, chlamydia, and HIV are contracted disproportionately by men practicing homosexual behavior? Did you know that the trauma caused by anal sex can lead to fecal incontinence and something called 'anal fissures'? Did you know that a recent study by the Georgetown University's School of Nursing and Health Studies found that one in five urban gay men is battered by his partner? Why would anyone promote this behavior as just another harmless lifestyle? God in His wisdom created healthy boundaries for sex—between a man and woman in marriage—and there are dire consequences when we cross those boundaries. And nobody has to be 'gay,' anyway. Many people who once thought they were 'gay' are now living happily as heterosexuals."
And I have to ask, did anyone else notice lesbians are left out of this? Hrm. Makes me wonder.
And the Concerned Women of America also felt it necessary to write about Nashville and the recent issues here. Just so you know, the bill was defeated. The loudest board member against it was an African-American woman. I have severe issues with THAT.

Here's one site saying the baby reached out his hand and here's one explaining what happened. Quoted:
"Depending on your political point of view, this is either Samuel Armas reaching out of the uterus and touching the finger of a fellow human, or it's me pulling his hand out of the uterus ... which is what I did."
Both mother and fetus were anesthetized, explained Dr. Noel B. Tulipan, director of pediatric neurosurgery, who closed the hole in Samuel's spine.
Even if he had not been under anesthesia, a fetus at his stage of development "would have no ability to reach out and grab anything," Tulipan said.

I enjoyed this article at HonestReporting.com because it reminded me of 2 things: 1. remember the picture of the in-womb surgery on a fetus with spina bifida? The little hand holding on to the doctor's finger? So many prolife groups used that picture to talk about life in the womb and even said the baby reached out. I later read a letter from the actual doctor (and this was performed here at Vanderbilt Hospital, by the way) where he said he pulled out the baby's finger. 2. I'm also reminded of all the stories of Israeli soldiers shooting children for throwing rocks at them. Um, excuse me, throwing huge rocks at the head is dangerous. And behind these lines of children sat their brothers and fathers with guns. Thank you.

Online I found Stained Apron and Bitter Waitress. I think my partner-in-crime Lacey says it best when she put in her LJ profile: "I am marvelously misanthropic and bitter for my twenty-one years, which I blame mostly on the stupidity-inducing atmosphere of the restaurant industry."
