You'll be amazed at how we systematically arrived at our summer getaway. We quickly eliminated Australia because my sister's going to be there for the next 6 years, struck out America since half my family is there and there'll be tons of opportunities to fly up there (aided by the compulsory 10 day block leave) plus E just went up while I was interning there 2 years back and Europe is naturally out of the question since we practically visited most of the major cities while on exchange and anyway, it's a bit too soon to be going back so we were just left with Asia. I wanted China, especially after taking the chinese economy class, but E wasn't too keen on that idea. Japan and Korea would be good except that we didn't have time to plan for it. And E being E, refused to venture into Vietnam, Cambodia or Manila so if you look at the map, we were left with either Bangkok, Taiwan or Hong Kong. Somehow after some hasty discussion, we settled for Bangkok since it's the only city E hasn't really been to and the last time I was there was during the first mid-semester break in year 1.

So long story short, we're headed up to Bangkok this Saturday for 6 days 5 nights. It is completely unplanned and very last minute (only bought the air tickets and booked the hotel last night) but we decided to seize this opportunity since the next time I'll ever want to go on a holiday, I'll have to use my precious leave. Please cross your fingers that the mr "I hate shopping, crowds, bargaining, dirty messy cities and unhygienic street food " would somehow not get crossed with the insane amount of shopping I've secretly planned for.

Yesterday evening, after coming home from dinner, E bugged me to play Xbox with him because he's completely neglected it during term time. So I obliged, not that I have much of a choice anyway, and we played for a good hour (I'm getting better with racing games nowadays) and soon, post dinner stupor hit me and I wanted to take a short nap because I was so tired. But the boyfriend, refusing to pardon me kept insisting that I played with him. He eventually struck a compromise with me that we'll just play the straight track race where all I had to do was press the accelerator button down. I didn't even have to look or get up from bed. Haha. So I relented and told him to choose the car. Next thing I knew when I looked up, I realized he cunningly chose for himself a red Ferrari while all I got, was a red Volkswagen Beetle!! Naturally when we raced it, his Ferrari trashed my beetle because it's a freaking straight track so the car with the greatest horsepower and acceleration wins and even though my beetle was running at her top speed, the Ferrari was miles ahead. Haha. We both couldn't stop laughing after that and never again am I going to let him choose my car for me.

I have the cutest boyfriend. Now we all know how prim and proper E is. He never used to wear slippers till we started dating and I bought him a pair back from Bangkok. He doesn't use his hands to eat pizza at home, he would never get caught dead with long rocker hair and he never used to wear jeans till he entered the air force. Yesterday out of the blue, he started bemoaning about the lack of good jobs in Singapore and after a while, he said with all seriousness, "Dear, I want to work in those kind of jobs where you have to wear a suit everyday. I like looking smart. But so far, the only place I know that requires you to wear a suit everyday is the Tiffany & Co's doorman.."

HAHAHA. I really didn't know how to encourage him then but a few minutes later while driving down Tanglin Road, we passed by St. Regis and I noticed the doorman was not only wearing a suit, but also a bow tie. So at least we now know he's not just limited to being the doorman at Tiffany's. Haha.

Just one more day. One more day of mad rush studying; one more day of panicking; one more final exam.

Oh the woes of exams. After practicing so much consolidation journal entries, I forgot how to do the equity accounting journal entries at the exams. And I completely misread the question on futures and options (how could I?!) which makes me mad pissed because a part of my job would require me to do that and I couldn't even execute a simple exam question properly?! Auditing paper today was easy but because of the lack of time management, I couldn't finish the questions and rushed through many, which I felt resulted in me producing very weak answers. I am to blame for that. My business valuation revision for the Wednesday paper is no where near complete and I think it's like stats and finance paper combined. I just hope I don't die whilst doing the paper and I somehow hope I pass. Tomorrow's the chinese economy paper and I think I'm finally able to link all the different reforms up in China. Studying this module just makes me want to pack up my bags and fly up to motherland to explore the cities and provinces and let textbook come alive.

We went to the seafood restaurant at the Singapore Flyer for Mum's birthday dinner with her family this evening. Having been to the London Eye, I think the Singapore Flyer is just a bigger replica of the one they have in London. The only difference is that we've got shops and restaurants on the first two levels but it's not like the best mix of shops and restaurants. My uncle says that the view from the Singapore Flyer isn't that great (especially with all the developments going around now) because Singapore doesn't have any unique architecture or interesting buildings, unlike that which you get from the London Eye because you get to see the old and new parts of London as well as the Thames winding along. The seafood restaurant we went to is over rated. As always, we ended up over ordering so besides the usual dishes, we got to try their butter crabs, chili crabs, black pepper crabs as well as their Alaskan king crab baked with salted egg yolk. Honestly, the food leaves much to be desired. It was way too salty and I am very certain you can get better seafood and crabs at either Jumbo, No signboard or the Ang Mo Kio seafood place (which in my opinion is still the best place in Singapore for seafood). We got mum the cheesecake from the Regent hotel and she liked it. It's a nice change from chocolate coated cakes anyway but I don't think the cheesecake is as good as the Hilton's.

After much thought and prayer, and with a few 'signs' provided during the semester, I decided that I'll rather work in a fast paced environment with new and unexpected challenges everyday and be in the market. So I wrote away the old and signed the new!

Today's my last auditing seminar and also the last lesson of my undergraduate life. 6 semesters (one spent overseas) just went by so quickly! I quite like my tutor because he attempts to make lessons very lively but I don't like auditing. Even with the prospect of partnership, I don't think I could take a job that requires me to identify followup points in working papers, test for management assertions and uncover misstatements in financial statements, think like a fraudster, spend days in dirty and dark warehouses counting inventory (junior auditors do this kind of work), consolidate financial statements, work 4 am nights for 2 whole months straight and not get rewarded well. As much as I respect the profession, the challenges present in auditing just doesn't entice me. I've got 4 more days of final final exams and then I'm done with my undergraduate studies!

I am finally done with all my presentations for this semester, as well as for my entire undergraduate life! Woots. I no longer have to stay up past midnight tweaking our powerpoint slides and sending huge ass files over email to my groupmates! The business valuation presentation went surprisingly well today and I thought we would get shot right left center but I think we handled the question and answer session very well and it turned out to be quite a cohesive and concise presentation and I think we drove home the main points of our investment and analysis. We started taking photos before the presentation (in a bid to release the pressure) and after class, took even more photos to commemorate the last presentation of our undergraduate life. Haha.

After the presentation, Chee Hao, Shaun, Yihao and myself went down to Crystal Jade for an early dinner and chit chat. It was definitely a good time (and a nice way to end the crazy week) just sitting and laughing with the guys and for a moment, I almost forgot that we got the dreaded exams in about 2 weeks.

The boyfriend came over this afternoon before he headed to school with a bunch of pink roses. We've had a few tiny disagreements this past week and I've been feeling a little unhappy over a few issues and so the flowers are his way of saying sorry. As cliche as it sounds, every relationship has its highs and lows and it's the bad times that's supposed to make us stronger right? I don't think we've reached a conclusion on every single matter, but I'm glad to know he's trying and he's determined to make this work. If there's anything I realize from these last few years of being in a relationship, it is that honest communication between a couple is super important and necessary and that a relationship requires a lot of giving, sharing and understanding.
