Tuesday, August 31, 2004 07:45 p.m. I could have some white chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream right now! Had one of the bestest teacher's day celebrations today! The atmosphere was excellent, the school spirit evident, the bands were good, the cheering was loud, the eating competition was fun and everything. Everything made it so memorable and exciting! Went swimming afterwards and this primary 1 girl called kimini came up to us and asked us to play ball. she's really friendly. I don't think I have the courage to go up to some stranger and start chatting with them.Sunday, August 29, 2004 06:55 p.m. My fortune cookies read, "The earliest NDP fireworks dsiplay was held at Collyer Quay" and "NDP 2000 saw the largest sea review organised by the Navy. It had 36 ships participating in the sail past" What kind of fortune cookies are these? They should be called NDP facts cookies!Friday, August 27, 2004 10:53 p.m. Slam slam slam. Yaozhang is back! horray! had cell tonight and celebrated Janice's birthday! So I ask myself. Why does history seem to be repeating itself and does it really matter? is this the right approach and is there really a fault?Monday, August 23, 2004 01:19 p.m. How do you actually wear skirts that end just barely under your butt cheeks? how do you even sit in them!? they are micro micro short, I bet they don't even measure 30cm. School ends at 12:30PM everyday except on Tuesday when I have extra math till 1:10PM. It's super early! It's even earlier than primary school dismissal times! when we had contact time on wednesday, school only ended at 12:40PM. haha.Saturday, August 21, 2004 06:07 p.m. So Li Jia Wei lost and her chances at a medal is lowered. what a close match! what a pity.Saturday, August 21, 2004 04:55 p.m. Fried for math mocks. fried for everything else too. Going to watch the table tennis semi finals. need a break from looking through universities and trying to see if I meet requirements. I think the media can really make a mountain out of a mole hill. I was sitting in the car just now and every 5 minutes, the DJ would mention something about tabletennis and the match happening soon. even if you're not at all interested in catching the match, you'll end up watching it to see why the media is making such a big fuss about it. Make a big fuss only if she wins the match this evening. at least, you know she'll get a medal. what if she loses today and lose the next match too and ends up being in 4th place and medal-less? I think it gives her additional pressure with such intense reporting.Friday, August 20, 2004 07:08 p.m. I am so dead for math mocks tomorrow. D E A D.Thursday, August 19, 2004 05:06 p.m. whoa. my cousin got A, A, B, C for her A-levels. pressure, pressure, pressure.Wednesday, August 18, 2004 07:03 p.m. At times, I feel very inadequate.Sunday, August 15, 2004 05:46 p.m. Congratulations to my little sister who got promoted yesterday and rose the ranks in guides! well done! I'm so proud of you Sarah! Been having lots of dinners recently. Had one on thursday night with my cousin, aunt and my family then had Michelle's farewell dinner on friday at Deanne's house, steamboat dinner for my cousin last night and there's another family dinner on tonight. oh my. Dinner on friday was really fun! the girls at cell went over to Deanne's house to prepare a surprise meal for Michelle. A few of us made chicken rice. I think I know how to make it already! yay. it seems quite simple. Jacq baked brownies and we had it with ice cream and Claire made almond jelly topped with longans. yummy food and I think we had fun preparing it and squeezing around in the kitchen. haha. Michelle came around 8 and we weren't done with our chicken rice so the girls started quizzing her at the gate and only allowed her to take a step everytime she answered something correctly. haha! had worship, dinner and then talked, talked and played those murderer, detective, doctor games thought up by gilly :) I was a very good murderer :) Steamboat dinner was very good last night! my dad's entire family came and so it was quite noisy. haha! my mom was so happy because she made mango sorbet and my grandmother said it was hao chi! haha she's happy because my grandma has never ever praised her for cooking something ever since she got married. little did my grandma know, my aunt was supervising my mom and breathing down her neck, making sure she added enough mango and blended it properly. haha! went out before coming home for dinner and got myself 2 tops! I don't even know why I got it. Tomorrow is Monday. drippery dreads.Wednesday, August 11, 2004 09:00 p.m. All is fair in love (and war).Tuesday, August 10, 2004 12:34 p.m. So what if you're one of the richest in Singapore and live in a big house? Had a claypot rice party at my aunt's place last night watching the parade and seeing the fireworks from a distance! beautiful! Going to have my lunch prepared by Sarah. my sister decided to show off what she has learnt from F&N by grilling chicken wings, baking macaroni and cheese and boiling carrot soup. not a bad try! just that our chicken wings caught fire in the oven! well done Sarah! (words of encouragment. HAHA)Saturday, August 7, 2004 09:35 a.m. Consumer is King! Just as MPH announced yesterday that it was offering 20% storewide discounts at all its stores, Times and Kinokuniya announced today that it was offering 20% storewide discounts too! Horray for me since I don't really like the selection at MPH! now I'm so spoilt for choice. Borders is lousy. it is only offering 15% discount for children's book. Borders is my absolute favourite bookshop and why aren't they offering 20% discounts too?! I'll settle with Times anyway. Yay! On the other hand, petrol kiosks around our sunny tropical island are offering 16% discounts on petrol too! no more 7%, 10% but 16%! not that it bothers me anyway! daddy gains. haha. I was just so excited because I understood what the whole article meant and my mind was busy recalling all my facts on oligopoly! In any oligopoly, as long as a firm reduces prices (BP in this case), others will follow suit. thus, all the other firms followed suit and reduced prices! but when one firm increases prices, other firms will not increase price! the second economic fact I recalled was that menu costs would be involved! haha! like example, SPE just printed those 13% discounts of OCBC cardmembers and now it has to reprint those huge banneres to 16%! (I hope menu costs are part of oligopoly because I do remember studying it somewhere) oh and lastly, besides cutting prices, firms also engage in non price competition to attract more customers! shell and mobil are still offering loyalty rewards despite its 16% price cut! My! economics is quite practical huh? I'm so glad I could recall those oligopoly facts! wait, I think the bookstores in Singapore are part of an oligopoly market structure too! when MPH reduced prices, the rest followed suit! oh yes! I can identify! haha! this is amusing!Friday, August 6, 2004 09:21 p.m. Had national day celebrations in school today. we had our walkathon! my first ever walkathon! I've never been for the new paper big walks or any school walkathons! so, I was naturally all excited but after starting out, it was all so slow moving and boring plus the sun was scorching, my excitment just died. haha. the mini parade we had after that wasn't that bad. the gymnasts were good! I calculated that ever since yesterday afternoon, I had a total of 3 hours under the hot, burning sun! 1.5 hours during PE yesterday, 1 hour during the walkathon today and another half hour after school! that's too much sun because optimally, I should only get 20mins of sun each day. I'll stay in the next few days. anyway, it was way too hot, I couldn't swim for long! Going to buy more story books tomorrow! MPH has a storewide discount of 20%! I hope I get my books! I felt so cheated the other day when I found out my cousin bought "the time traveler's wife" for only $18.90 at Popular while I got mine for $34 at Borders. the only consolation was that I bought mine months ago.Thursday, August 5, 2004 06:54 p.m. One long weekend up ahead. friday, saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday! 5 days! I can't wait though there's so much work to be done and mock exams to study for. Had careers day yesterday. informative but I don't think I can settle on what I'll want to do right now. had university talks in the afternoon and still can't decide on what I want to pursue. it all depends on the grades, doesn't it?Sunday, August 1, 2004 08:46 p.m. Remember Remember me when I am gone away,Gone far away into the silent land; When you can no more hold me by the hand, Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay. Remember me when no more day by day You tell me of our future that you plann'd: Only remember me; you understand It will be late to counsel then or pray. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterwards remember, do not grieve: For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of the thoughts that once I had, Better by far you should forget and smile Than that you should remember and be sad. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
