Hello healing chin and throat. Hi repaired and as-good-as-new notebook. Great. Things are looking up.

I got Joost to see what it was all about. My verdict: Impressive. Free. Better than grainy Youtube videos (it's like watching the telly on your pc). We could do with more channels but it'll suffice for now :)

Streak of bad luck.

First it was the post-op numb chin, then the mucked-up HDD, and today it was the i-ate-fish-and-something-got-lodged-in-my-throat-syndrome.

So now apart from a numb chin, i have this prickly pain at the base of my throat. And i swear i only had this pea-sized amount of fish (Wth? Where to find fish bone??)!

Doctor says he can't see anything, and that he'll have to monitor the situation. If things don't improve he'll whisk me off to the ENT specialists where they'll stick a tube down my throat and suck the hell out of me.

The numbness is killing me.

IBM sent me a brand new HDD to replace my screwed-up one (thank god for the warranty). Tomorrow i'm going to get my stitches removed and then it's on to the IBM place to get my recovery cds. Hurrah. My notebook should be up and running again in no time.

Also, i forgot to mention that i had my hair cut a week ago (a day before my dental visit, to be exact) and i now sport bangs that make me look like a cross between a dimwit and a laselle student. Mwhaha.

My laptop has given up on me again. This time the OS won't boot. Problems with the HDD, i suppose, since i hear clicking and whirring sounds half the time. Some voice in my brain tells me to remove the HDD and wipe the head clean, but sanity reigns. I remember the time when i actually washed my desktop keyboard under running water (all because it was too dirty and i hated having dustmites between the gaps) -- utterly crazy.

The keyboard didn't malfunction in the end, but we've long since given our old desktop pc away.

Also, i had some dental work done the other day and now i'm left with a really numb lower lip/gumline/chin. Numbness that refuses to go away. They say it might take months to recover, and i cannot help but worry.

Random updates.

Part 1: Guess what. I have this, this, this and this (plus a host of other applications) installed on my pc, and i use this browser... BUT i can't stop those bloody tracking cookies from latching on to my system and leeching my resources dry! What the hell. Argh

Part 2: I met Shyang in school yesterday. P and Q were damn right -- he hadn't changed much. I spotted him from afar, veered off path and went forth to give him the shock of his life (actually i just said hello, and asked if he recognised me). My schoolmate Wai thought i was trying to hit on some random guy ("No lah, he's just an old friend from jc"). She's so funny, just like that. Anyhoo. I sms-ed later in the evening to do some catching up. He replied saying he was doing business too, and was preparing for his upcoming exams, and that everyone seemed to have changed except for him (so "sadded" -- in his own words), which was quite true really. He told me i was not recognisable as i'd grown taller over this period of time. Hahaha, the joker. That was the funniest thing i heard all day.

Part 3: Pam, a newfound friend (the wonders of the internet, really), emailed saying she might be visiting next week (read my entry on my other blog). That means after my exams. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Part 4: Oh yeah. Pam wrote about Q and moi in her article too. You can read the article -- 'Adventures of a fan girl' here. Such a sweetie. Also, allow me bask in fame for a moment.

Part 5: Feist's 'The Reminder' is out in stores already. Please please please do go and get it. Pitchfork has a glowing review (granted, they're not always accurate but damn, they hit it right on the spot this time). I remember buying 'Let It Die' on an impulse 2 years ago and i haven't regretted since. (Video · My Moon My Man)

Part 6: Exams -- 2 down, 2 to go. Add oil.. add oil, everybody!
