Onimusha
The game I *want* because well... to quote IGN "One of the best animations in the game shows the character clutching the sword with both hands and thrusting it down into the back of a downed opponent. Afterward, he wrenches it around a bit in the characters back and steps on the opponent to assist in pulling the sword out of the defeated enemy. It's sweet." Anything with that kind of detail to just pulling out a sword *warrants* buying. From the review it sounds like a cross between Kessen and Resident Evil. Which sounds gory but maddeningly fun! =D (Then again the writers for RE also created Onimusha so that explains the undead attacking historical Japanese people as opposed to undead attacking say Claire Redfield. ^^ ) The only thing keeping me from getting Onimusha is the fact that I don't own a PS2 (yet) and the fact that Onimusha won't come out till March-June (or so they say...).

On another rpg note: a few of my friends are playing Mage which is this facinating game that sounds like people who work magic incognito. Its more elaborate than the simple description but looking at the details of the game it self its an interesting tidbit of rpg because you take on this entirely different person (or character) but then again that is what RPGs are. But this kind of RPG is interesting because it has rules and massive amounts of text about the different characters and divisions of races etc. That and it sort of (to quote a friend) "like the Matrix." where there is a battle between two races of mages that want to control the world and the people in it in their way.

And to finally round out this geeky RPG entry is the the small but growing collection of Batgirl comics I recently started collecting. Batgirl (who is not Barbara Gordon but a new asian girl named Cassandra) is a new series out by DC comics. Its an interesting series to read especially when you look at the roles the characters play. If we take a look at it through a few perspectives we could see that Batgirl is this great series that is weighed down by these stereotypes (Batgirl is a mysterious femme fatale that is an asian assassin hmmmm a plot I have not heard before =P) but never the less I have 1st printings of most of the series (and I plan to pick up the rest as soon as I find another comic store with back issues =D).

Off to bed I go, to dream about PS2's and Onimusha! And tomorrow I get to make more cookies. =D

Ruri's Radio: About Rurichan
I like throwing parties. =) And this time it was a sort of wish that came into action, I don't know what it is about me and throwing parties so close to finals @_@. I need to stop. But anyways, the debate team came over (well most of the CEDA team) and we had this great pot-luck dinner party (I finally got to make cookies but I have like 5 lbs of cookie dough in the fridge that I will make into cookies after I add some more butter =P) What's great is that we all got together and did something non-debate related (but we debated about everything right down to the rules in Trivial Persuit and charades o.o) They stayed until 1 am talking about everything. (Its hard to get debaters to stop talking). I made cookies and pesto salmon. Tanzy made french onion soup and chocolate cake =)

A little about the debate team. Yes I am a debate nerd, I've been doing debate since I was a freshman in high school (which makes this year my 7th year ^^;;; ) anyways I've done just about everything under the sun in terms of debate. I also coach policy (CEDA, TEAM, CX, etc) debate to a group of high school kids at Balboa High School in San Francisco. I love debate, infact it pretty much helped me determine my carreer and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life (which was to do tech law).

The debate team is a nice group of ecclectic people who decided that debate was for them or they joined because it was interesting or someone pulled them into it. ^^ I'll probably talk about them later as I blog more.

Anyways, I got the Needing You VCD, I love that movie. Its a great movie about a girl named Kinki (Sammi Cheng) and a guy named Andy (Andy Lau). Andy is a good sales manager. He's really smooth and pretty much dates around, but he has no will power when it comes to a woman named Fiona (who I personally do not like but then again I think that was the purpose of her character) he gets to know Kinki and falls in love with her. But Kinki is trying to figure out what to do about her boyfriend who is seeing someone else on the side. She dumps him and goes out with multi-millionaire Roger. Andy is jealous but doesn't realize that he loves Kinki until the very end. Everytime I see the movie I get shimmery (shimmer is a term my friends and I use when we get happy, we "emit" waves of happiness = shimmer).

That was pretty much my day, I had lots of great food, and I swear that I will go on a diet after xmas =) If you ever do throw a party make sure to make your food the night before. @_@ (Oh and keep club soda handy in case of spills.)

I've been working on small thing on the side (mostly projects that procrastinate me ^^;;;) for example I am working on desktops and icons. Whenever I decide to make a new desktop theme I find images from various pages and make icons, sometimes I have to color them in but it doesn't really matter. I usually make my own icons because I can't find the ones I want. I got into habit of making them that now I have about 16 sets of icons. I should have a page up for the icons plus notes soon. ^^ As soon as my friend makes the page for me. The link is an about me page. It has misc. information about me. Just random babble from me. ^^;;

Tavolo
Today I nearly bought 52 icing tips, my first thought was "Could I use all 52 icing tips!?" my second thought was "wow thats a lot of tips!" The reason is "Not-Martha Stewart Cooking Day" which is this day that was originally called "make cookies" day that morphed into "living vicariously as martha stewart through cooking" which in reality all I wanted was to make cookies with some friends. But in the end I don't mind the whole hassle. I don't think anyway. Its a nice night for the debate team to do something non-debatish.

My other rant of the night is mary sue fics, and then what I'll label as "Mary sue fics and Bobby Joe" as in people who live viacariously through either a created character or just make a character out of character (OOC) and then that character dates someone not from that "world". I guess I am a purist and I try to make fanfics as close to the real thing as possible. For example, one fic I read tonight incorporated an american falling in love with Sakura (from Card Captor Sakura) I understand the ideas of bringing in new characters to propel a plot (I use it in "Wait") but at the point where it makes the characters change or go OOC with no reason to justify that change I lose interest in the story and drop it like a cold stone.

A lot of CCS fics fall into that category. I guess the issue is that the characters are so close to "ideal" that they'd want to be like them. Oh well. ^^;;

Club Moonshine: Mikan no Tsuki
Hmmmm my body won't let me go to sleep and I have a craving for cornbread stuffing. =P Maybe its because I slept for 13 hrs straight earlier today. I swear I will be *perfect* for overseas work right now. My body is in tune with their normal hours. o.O On another note today is a day of much ranting. ^^ For one I got yet another request to use my images. I don't mind the one or two image requests; for one I can't claim them as mine, but I did take the time to scan them and clean them up (like the Daisuke image on the right). But blanket requests are something I do not really enjoy. I was working on the November layout for doki-doki.org but my computer froze and I lost all the work I did. It frustrated me to no end. On the other hand I have this great layout for Club Moonshine my Mikan no Tsuki page (which is the link above). I should have it up before I go to bed, but I may end up doing the layout tomorrow morning after I wake up to watch Card Captors (shiver). I don't know why I bother to watch the dubbed version of Card Captor Sakura, the voices make me shiver (especially Kerochan's voice!) but I do and strangely enough I enjoy it.

Hmmmmmmm I got a weblog. Not much for now =P but I will post a rant about how I despise image stealers =P (its Ruri's current rant of the month)
