Hi Bria..welcome to my blog...

Be careful what you wish for......

After two weeks of this I innocently muttered to myself that anything would be better.

Look what happened!

Which reminds me of the one about the guy who took his wife in the fog and missed.

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.

Hey Amy...enjoy your day off.

This just in.....

After an absence that lasted far too long, The Monkey is back. If you're not already a fan then go have a read. Whether you laugh or just shake your head, you can't help but like a guy who says out loud what most of only think quietly to ourselves. Welcome back Monkey.

The long and winding road.....

My first entry in awhile has a few detours along the way, so pay attention or you could get lost. To start with I was only going to paste a couple of quotes here, partly to make my presence know again and partly because I'm lazy. Lets start there shall we. After hearing Dubya's latest rant about supporting the troops in Iraq I was looking for this quote by Heir Goering. Is it not scarily on the mark?

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."
~Hermann Goering, Nazi leader

At the same time I ran across the Carlinism below. Since I recently enjoyed a conversation about religion, Joseph Campbell and the state of mankind in general with one of my college instructors, the words seemed poignant as much as funny.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky, and he has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these things he will send you to a place full of fire, and smoke, and burn and torture forever and ever 'till the end of time.... but he LOVES you. And he needs money."
~George Carlin

While I was midway through this in depth comment on politics and religion in the 21st century, I heard a song coming from the other room. I hear, the secrets that you keep...at night when you're talking in your sleep. I bopped on out to the living room to see this happy duo from Seattle. If they don't make you want to dance and sing along you should probably consider antidepressants. I wish I had the talent and guts to express myself like that.

At this point in the trip I was Googling those lyrics by The Romantics, though I can't remember why, and found this new blog. The layout made me smile and so did the writing.

And finally, (we're almost back on the main road) I heard a song this morning with some lyrics that made me think of a special friend. She recently had one of life's unfair tragedies, that no one should have to go through, imposed on her. I think of her often and in typical guy fashion, feel inadequate somehow, because I can't fix it for her. She is young and a strong spirit and will mend over time, for now...I hope she feels loved.

I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved ........ from "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5
