Who wants to play?....

Two of our daughters are here for a visit this weekend. They brought a game with them called Cranium. It's a lot of fun, kind of a combination of Charades, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Name that Tune and more. Here's one of the questions I had tonight.

Which of these is not a country western song?....
a. I'm the Only Hell Momma Ever Raised.
b. If I Break His Heart, I can at Least Leave Him the Bed.
c. If Love Were Oil, I'd be a Quart Low.
d. You Can't Have Your Kate and Edith, Too.

Keep me a secret
Keep me out of your arms
Keep my kisses off your lipstick
Stop me swallowing your charms
Keep yourself a secret
Lock up all your doors
I'll keep you out of my dreams
Just you keep me out of yours......

.......from the song, Keep Me a Secret, written by Ainslie Henderson/Sinead Quinn/Malachi Cush and sent to me by srah on her summer Burn-It cd. It's my new favourite song.

Are you ready for some football? The NFL tackle type of football I mean, sorry Sonja. I don't follow it as much as I once did, the reason I mention it at all is, there's a pool going on and we need participants. You can join through a link over at Mark's blog. You don't need any expertise in fact sometimes that a hindrance, just sign up, join our group and pick blindly, you'll have as good a chance as anyone else. Go deep.....hut one, hut two.

Baby we need rain.....

I promise not to make this a habit, but I understand women like baby pictures. So without further adieu I'd like to introduce, Ethan Kevin Ronald.

Most of our province is covered in forest, so we're used to a few fires in the summer, but this is getting scary. Can anyone recommend a good rainman?

Winding down.....

I'd like to take a minute to say thank you to all the people who stop by here. That you do, and take the time to comment as well, is flattering to me. I enjoy communicating with each of you and hope I can continue to post entries that you find worth reading.

The rest of Canada is just as polite too. It says so in this editorial(you'll have to enlarge it to read if you use IE) from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reprinted in the Vancouver Sun this week. I wonder if we're as perfect as she believes. Lets ask April and MissA.

I just wandered out back and ate a ripe, sun warmed cherry tomato fresh off the vine. Mmmmmmmmmm....almost as good as sex.

For better or for worse, in sickness and health, till jail do us part, or, an economic alternative for your wedding photos. I wonder who caught the bouquet?

Everyone go over and say hi to Lauren, who just started college and needs ideas on how to meet people. Here's my idea.....Get a pad and write up some questions, then go up to someone and tell them you have to interview a stranger for journalism class. If it's guys in particular you want to meet, dress appropriately...white shirt with a few buttons open, a tie knotted loosely and a fedora set at a saucy angle might get their attention. Wait, that could be a little too Brittany for college......maybe just offer to buy them coffee, guys are suckers for blondes that treat.

The two Ronnies....

On a more positive note, Kimmie asked for details about my new grandson, so here they are. He was born as mentioned, a hefty 9lbs. 6oz. and 22 1/2 inches long. He has lots of dark hair(so I guess he doesn't look like me after all) but under the light it looks brown, almost blonde, and my daughter says that after his bath it puffs up. His eyes are dark, possibly blue she tells me. So far he sleeps, eats and cries very little. I told her to enjoy the peace and quiet, it'll change soon enough. And...and, his name is Ethan, Kevin(his dad's name), Ronald. When she told me I melted. I'm sitting here smiling broadly and sighing. Even after having five kids of our own, it still seems a miracle to me.

I wrote this....

Please go read this news article from the Thursday edition of the Vancouver Sun. My first reaction was anger. I was angry at a child dying needlessly due to the stupidity of an adult. Then I felt sadness and compassion, the father must be living in hell. As I reread parts of the story however, I got angry again, and frustrated. When did we as a society become unwilling to take responsibility for ourselves? The issue here isn't forgetfulness or it's causes, the issue is responsibility. You left your dependant child alone in an unsafe place, you are not a responsible parent. Nelson Cowan, a psychology professor at Univ. of Missouri says "these types of things are tragic accidents," police should investigate but if the parents are loving and diligent people who truly forgot then they shouldn't be treated as criminals. I have trouble describing a parent who leaves their child alone in a car as diligent and there was nothing accidental about it. The death was a direct result of the fathers actions, or lack thereof and he should accept responsibility for it. This unwillingness to accept responsibility for ourselves is an epidemic, one that may be terminal for our society.

It's a boy!!!!!!!

Our middle daughter had a baby boy tonight. Mother, baby and father are all doing well. They live a long way from us so we don't get to see him right away, but there will be pictures soon. This announcement should also clarify a misunderstanding from last week. Just before we left for the family golf tourney, I posted a picture of "our little guy" and his "caddy". A new reader here complimented me on my good looking kids, they are in fact, my grandkids. I'd like to be youthful enough to have kids that young, but I'm happy to be old enough that mine are all grown. My babies are having babies, I thought only other people got old!

Now, where was I?......

I'm going to do a sixty second tidy here, since I've been away for a few days. First, I've now received all my CD's from the summer edition of Burn-It. I want to thank srah, smash, Kyle and also Dawn, who wasn't one of my official partners but we traded cd's anyway, because we like breaking rules. My observations......
-singing in French or Spanish is much hotter than English
-music is a very personal taste
-Kyle is very talented...beautiful cover and labels
-my favourite new songs are...Keep Me a Secret: Ainslie Henderson, Sensualitie: Axelle Red, Elegantly Wasted:INXS
-my vote for the hottest songs I received...Fallin: Alicia Keyes and Wonderful Tonight: Eric Clapton
-artists that were covered more than once...George Michael, Divinyls, Prince, Norah Jones
-surprises....Neil Diamond, and who knew anyone else remembered The Raspberries
I'm enjoying all the music, especially songs that are new to me. If anyone's interested, there is an new burn taking place. Click the link in my sidebar and go sign up.

Two more of my interviews have been posted. You can read them at Missanthropy's and Becky's.
I see that James is back, go over and give him a smile and hello, he could use it I think.

Technical notes...
I'm having trouble with my email right now...I think.....has anyone received mail from me in the last week?...Dawn, April?
Also, my comments host seems to be having "issues" right now, so I'll apologise on their behalf for the sloth like loading of my page recently. It's hard to get good value for free anymore.
Another person has mentioned my lack of a bio here. Unless I made up things, I'm not sure there's much about me to interest anyone, besides, I thought a little mystery was a good thing.

Watch this space....

While you're waiting, what are these people doing? What's cooking in this pot?......there's no connection between the two by the way....answers tomorrow.
