Rupert and Jaxson
Since the last puppy picture did so well, I unashamedly post another. This is my grandson Jaxson with his new pal Rupert, a Newfoundland dog.

The puppy connection......

Now that I have your attention, I've discovered some new blogs I'd like to share with you. The first is Pesky' Apostrophe otherwise known as Mac. Now I'm not just promoting her blog here for the obvious reasons, she's funny, knowledgeable and writes very well, but for her integrity too. She recently wrote an entry about her puppy becoming sick unexpectedly and then criticised her local vet's emergency service. Many other pet owners then left comments on the various levels of emergency care for animals in their areas. I, not being real bright, left a comment about the lack of health care for many humans and also predicted a bevy of negative responses to said comment. Not only was I wrong, but Mac herself agreed with my comments. Please go give her a read. She's a breath of fresh air. Oh and the puppy pics were more than just a way to lure you in here. I wanted to show the world I'm not an evil animal hater. This little cutie, her name is Dublin, was over at our place the other night and won everyone's affection, including mine.

My next new find is Kristie over at Divine Distraction. She expresses herself extremely well, is open and very funny. And although I've never seen or spoken with her, I think she's tres sexy. Go over and see for yourself. Oh, and make sure you say hi. I have a sense she prefers people to participate, and I like that too.

The last new blog I found recently isn't really one at all, but three. They're all from the same family and while I think both the mother's and father's on their own are well worth a read, it's the daughter's that won me over. She's six, and with her parent's writing help, portrays life through a child's eyes. If the stress of a complicated life is getting to you, take a minute and give her a visit. She'll keep you grounded on the journey.

Make alove to da camera baby.....

Susan aka Tundrababe posed an interesting question recently. She wondered how someone with as much power and money as George Bush can't seem to have a decent photo taken. I noticed that our new Prime Minister has the same problem. Fortunately for them, and us, after November their respective snapshots will start to fade. Bush for the obvious reason and Martin because his minority government is destined for collapse shortly after parliament sits this fall. So lets enjoy these Kodak moments while we still can.

Summer in the city....

I just arrived home from a few days in Vancouver. While there I heard people complain about the heat, the government, the traffic, and the lack of low-carb gelato. I saw families strolling the seawall in the evening, a guy creating rock art on the beach and people dancing in the park. I watched men offer their seats to women and children every time one got on the bus I was riding. I witnessed a driver politely hold up traffic on Denman St. while parallel parking, because he thought his car might block the picture I was taking. I heard languages being spoken from all over the world. I saw a drug deal take place in an alley, a couple having sex in the back of an SUV while parked in a convenience store parking lot and nine police cars chase down an expensive foreign sports car in broad daylight. I heard cell phones ringing everywhere I went, car alarms going off with no one around and those same people with the phones arming their car alarms with annoying chirps and beeps. At various times in the night, I woke to the sounds of garbage trucks emptying dumpsters, Harley's without mufflers and seagulls squawking. I enjoy visiting the city with all it's flash and excitement, but I love the slow, quiet of home even more.

our cruise ship taking the sea air Vancouver off the starboard side
evening stroll on the seawall stackin rocks in the hot sun trees grow everywhere here
beach philosophy large inukshuk showing the way sun sinks slowly into the west
police presence the bad guy surrounded lights of the city
view to the south view to the west and our island view to the north
look closely, you can see a third SUV rolling down the sidewalk, small guy driving with a white hat living large living rough
