Freedoms just another word for nothin’ left to lose.....

The quote below is from a speech by Pres. George W. Bush given at the 20th Anniversary of the National Endowment for Democracy, United States Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC. Nov. 2003.

"The advance of freedom is the calling of our time; it is the calling of our country. From the Fourteen Points to the Four Freedoms, to the Speech at Westminster, America has put our power at the service of principle. We believe that liberty is the design of nature; we believe that liberty is the direction of history. We believe that human fulfilment and excellence come in the responsible exercise of liberty. And we believe that freedom -- the freedom we prize -- is not for us alone, it is the right and the capacity of all mankind."

Well, almost all mankind. ....via comments left by Tim on an entry about the same frightening subject over at Mac's

I wonder what those who sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom over the years would think.

Peace is a verb. It's active, and it involves the choices we make every day. - Colleen Kelly

"Women tend to perceive, organize and act out of circular principles, such as compassion, inclusion, deep listening and consensus-building. These principles are vital to resolve conflicts and rebuild societies. Women are uniquely equipped to build peace". from the Peace X Peace website.

I've always believed that humanity's only chance for survival is if the women of the world are in charge. I think the fact that I'm a man and just used the term "in charge" says it all. I watched a documentary last night produced by Peace X Peace, and was only further convinced of my theory. Watch if you get the chance, it may change how you think. Oh and guys, open your mind beforehand. Don't just listen to what they're saying, try and hear it too.

Calm down and take a deep breath....

Proponents of the so called war on terrorism like to use freedom as an argument for invading Iraq. I wonder where the freedom to breathe rates on their list of terror.
