Happy Birthday eh........

I am extra proud to be Canadian this year. Not only are we one of the few countries in the world to pass legislation recognising same sex marriage, but with the exception of a few flaming radicals, (couldn't resist that adjective) we have moved on from the debate. Happy Birthday Canada.

Bits n Bites.....

I was surprised there wasn't more media coverage of Danica Patrick's fourth place finish at this year's Indy 500.(Oh yea, the media is busy with the pervert formerly known as Michael.) Not only is she knocking down barriers around a male dominated sport, but there's the whole "woman driver" angle. If you follow the link to her website, however; you'll see this intro..."this attractive 5-foot-1, 100-pound woman, battles in a man's world with amazing success". I checked the official websites for Michael Schumacher and Patrick Carpentier...not a word about their looks or physique. Methinks those barriers are higher than Mz. Patrick realises.

We have a new police program in our province aimed at lowering auto theft. The gendarmes use special cars, rigged with cameras and electronics, to entice would be thieves into their trap. There is now a website that explains the program and shows video of the criminal Einsteins at work. Go have a chuckle. Oh and as a side note, bumper stickers have begun to appear around the lower mainland that say...'This is a baitcar".

Ann Bancroft passed away last week. She starred in one of my favourite movies, 84 Charing Cross Road. If you ever need a rainy Sunday afternoon, "on the couch with your favourite blanket" kind of movie this is it.

If I were a carpenter and you were a lady
Would you marry me anyway, would you have my baby?
For some reason I've always thought this was a slight against carpenters. No point here....just one of those odd thoughts that inhabit my mind.

Have fun kids, but play safe......ciao.

The view from here.....

Hello and welcome to Weekend Update. I'm Rockinronnie and she's Tina Fey. Our top stories tonight...

It seems your mother was right after all!
How to get boys to read.
There seems to be some sort of theme here.
Why did the chicken cross the road?

Goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.
