My project for the day, er week, er....
how difficult can it be? no problem time for a break

And here's a limmerick for Sonja...

a Scot named Liam went a roaming
in the fading light of the gloaming
though he was hard to see
Sonja found him quite easy
cause his blue ribbon was always a glowing

Lazy Sundays......

A nice lazy day here, the kind I like best. In between naps, I did managed to put up the photos from Saturday's barbecue. They're on a separate page, so those of you still on dial-up can go get something practical accomplished while it loads. The party was great, good food, cold beer, music and lots of dancing. The pipe band might not meet the standards of some(Sonja) with their lack of kilts and youthful physiques, but their playing more than made up for any lack of plaid. And the belly dancers were, well, exotic......all jingly and shimmery and beautiful. From the children to an eighty year old, they all danced with feeling, grace and enthusiasm. You may notice one particular little girl in a number of shots. She captured a little piece of my heart with her happiness and innocent delight at the entertainment...well, that and her resemblance to one of our daughters at that age.
Now, as for the quality of the photos, they're not great. I don't seem to take good pictures of people for some reason, the following is a list of excuses...you pick one.
1. I have an inexpensive camera
2. the light was bad
3. I don't have lenses or filters(see #1)
4. the pipers distracted me
5. everytime I lined up a shot, I could here Dawn complimenting my photos and started trembling
6. the dancers distracted me
7. Sleeman's Cream Ale

Ok, it's late and I'm missing all the infomercials.....till next time boys and girls.

A limmerick for Katie.....
there was a young hottie from Kent
to every college kegger she went
with beer and razor in hand
from mullet to mullet she ran
leaving the frat boys shaved and spent

And finally, a couple of photos along my drive to and from work last night....and remember, tomorrow is the big belly dance/bagpipe/barbecue, so watch this space.

Summertime (blogging) blues.....

I've noticed a recurring theme of late, amongst bloggers. Summer! It started with Katie and her trip to Oregon, then Lauren with her after grad girls gone wild trip, and now Kimberly is on the road. Actually I think Sonja may have started it all with her two month holiday to the mile high city. She however, much to the chagrin of her mates, continues to update daily, unlike the rest of us afflicted with the summertime blogging blues. Myself, it's not vacationing so much, as the weather, work and now this volunteering gig. And the thing is, the more time I'm away from the computer, the more blog ideas I get, go figure. Candy says it's called "having a life", anyway, I'm taking notes and since I'm going back to school this fall, maybe I'll write a report on how I spent my summer holidays.

Speaking of volunteering, it turns out I'm more of a day care worker than a techy. Kids chatting on MSN and me on the porch, reading and enjoying the view. Their energy and laughter is infectious however, so I am well paid.

North to Alaska.....I took these photos last night on my drive to work. My 2.0 megapixel cam doesn't do justice to the cruise ships. Just think closer, larger and brighter or, imagine floating hotels lit up like small cities. Not the best shots, but you get the idea. Photo #1 Photo #2

In my travels last night, I saw the following sign in front of a business: "Think honk if you're psychic."
It's nap time, I'm tired and have to work again tonight...pleasant dreams kids.

Rockinronnie's pick for blog of the week is Strokes of Genius. I'm also giving Dawn an award for Geekiest Entry in the artistic blog category, an almost unheard of combination. Go have a look, she's funny, thought provoking and well written.

I thought this add was so appropriate...I mean, don't you have to wear a mullet if you live in a trailer park? We'll ask Katie, she'll know.

What the sunrise looked like to me this morning.....

Well, it's official, I'm going back to school! I start in Sept. and can hardly wait. Just a few computer courses, but I'm hoping it will lead to actually being paid to play with computers. Planning my first kegger already.
And, I start volunteering tomorrow at a community, computer access centre. Here's the view ...now if I could only make this a paying proposition. Mind you, the look of wonderment in people's eyes as they learn their first Dos command is reward enough.

Where have all the cowboys gone? Apparently there's only a few of us good ones left.

More bits and bites.....or, I'm working this week, so here's more filler.

I just finished Carl Hiaasen's latest book, Basket Case. Although, it's not a bad read, in my humble opinion it doesn't measure up to his earlier works for wacko content. A light read, good for falling asleep with.

Ever wanted to go on a cruise? Now you can do it from the comfort of your living room. Here's the link, click Web Cams(it's teeny) at the right hand bottom corner of the page. Quite a few of their ships are cruising through our coastal neighbourhood right now, so look close and you may see me waving from the beach.

Someone pass me a flashlight(it's a torch Sonja), I'm off into the night.

This peony dropped all it's petals on my table overnight. I thought it looked nice, so I took this picture.
