Can I be completely candid with you?......

Speaking of movies that make you cry. We watched one last night called Door to Door and wept more than once. Not the bawling, sobbing uncontrolable sort or tears....just the quietly trickling half-way down your cheek kind. It's a very well portrayed inspirational story of a man with cerebral palsy, Bill Porter, and how he affects the people around him. Oh, and this morning I can't find a thing worthy of complaining about in my own life.......yup, one of those movies. I give it ten kleenexes out of ten.

Point no point......

I listened to an interview yesterday on CBC(Canadian NPR), where someone was critisizing(Freudian typo) North America's love affair with super-size food. He claimed there are now over one billion overweight people on this planet and for the first time, we outnumber the malnourished citizens of the world. Then last night on PBS television Alan Alda did a show on dieting. One of the case studies, a woman, held two bags of potatoes weighing thirty-five pounds up against her body to help convey a sense of the burden her extra pounds had been. My point in mentioning these two items? Well none really, just a little food for thought. Pass the celery.

April sent this interview along to me. I haven't been married lately nor am I up on any criminal charges so don't expect tabloid quality entertainment.

1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
I can't think of anywhere I'd rather live than right here, right now. If I had to move, perhaps I'd live on the Canadian prairie. I like the vastness of it. However having been born on an island and lived on the coast all my life I'd miss the influence of the ocean.
2. Have you ever lost something of extreme emotional value?
What are the events surrounding this?

When I was very young, perhaps five or six years old I rode around with my father in his work truck a lot. Once, a piece of this truck, a switch that did something in the cab, was replaced and he saved the old one thinking I might like it. For some reason it meant a lot to me, perhaps because he took the time to think of me other than at Christmas or my birthday. I lost this valued gift the same day, and remember being devastated. Months later I would still search the playground where I lost it in the hope of a miracle. Of course I never found it, but for some odd reason I never forgot it either, in fact as an adult I can't go by the park without remembering.
3. Have you ever cried during a movie?
Yes many times, but I can't remember which ones. I don't see a lot of movies because most aren't worth watching. Usually it's the ones where special feelings are acknowledged as opposed to a tragic event. You know, the awwwwwwwwww kind of moments.
4. If you were in charge of doling out punishment for spammers, what would the sentences be?
In our free-market, wants vs needs, growth driven economy, advertising is just part of the game. On my radar screen of life spam doesn't even show a blip.
5. What is your favourite season, and why?
Fall. The bounty of the land, the colours, the crispness in the air. Well that and the fact winter cocooning is just around the corner.

This morning while getting ready for school one of the Vancouver morning shows had their weather chick on. While holding her wrist limp and fingers splayed in the classic "check out my bling bling and new French nails" pose, she informed me that really calm winds would be coming in off the water today and there was tons of fog around right now. Closing the way I opened, without a point.

Back to the future.....

I predict that you will find some interesting links below......

Here's one about making long term predictions on a global scale and backing them up with your money. If your cash flow is like mine you can get in on the discussions for free.

Below are three videos I find humourous, all from Daryl Dulong, who's site has some other interesting links as well.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas........

This isn't supposed to happen on the west coast. How are we going to golf now? To make matters worse, it's now pouring rain........yuck.

Caution...BookCrossing...

I found a very interesting site through April's blog. The idea is to give away books and track where they go and who reads them. I've already "released" three books into the wild and plan to let more go soon. Instead of books gathering dust on my shelves, someone else will get to enjoy them too. Like a random act of kindness but with books...works for me.

Ronnie's got back.....

I'm back from holidays, back to school and back to blogging. Our Christmas trip was great and only slightly affected by weather. We met our newest grandson and true to form (we have three others), he's absolutely beautiful, exhibits Mensa like intelligence and is very well behaved. Ok so my pride may be showing just a little, but he does have the biggest brown eyes and laughs a lot. At the risk of being labeled old, I will post pictures of him soon. Speaking of old, while in the frozen north we visited friends and were amazed to see how everyone had aged in ten years. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon or is it just a local thing? Perhaps that's why I'm glad to be back at school.......we're all so optimistically young here. Happy New Year everyone.
