AIDS

Monday, December 1, 2003 06:43 p.m.

Today is world wide AIDS recognition day. (or something like that) The news report said that there were about 40 million people with AIDS in Africa or something. While I do know that some people couldn't help getting AIDS and I feel sorry for those people, I can't feel very sorry for all of them as a whole. If they don't want to get AIDS, then just don't have sex! It's really that simple. Granted, some people will still get AIDS somehow, but if everyone just refrained from having sex, the rate of infection would drop dramatically.

I am sooooo screwed. I have not gotten any of my homework done. >.< We'll probably leave Lynn and Shawn's house late(though I'm hoping we won't) and it's a 3 hour drive back home. I'll only have a little bit of time to do my homework then. I still have no idea how to do my paper.

I am so SCREWED.

Penn State

At Lynn and Shawn's house right now. Very tired and very dizzy. I just came back from one of their friend's party. It was like a leftover chinese Thanksgiving.(All the food was chinese food and they were all leftovers from Thanksgiving. Lol) I should have done my English paper. I even brought paper and pencil and the book to do it! But, alas, I couldn't do it. I mean, I probably could have if I really tired, but I have no idea where to start. >.<

I am so screwed. >.< I have the entire paper to do as well as a lot of programming. ARG. Someone kill me, now.

The Looser

Monday, November 24, 2003 03:17 p.m.

My sister (if you can even call her that) is such a looser. She's a bratty moronic !#$)(%!)@(##$(^#@!%*($$!#(*)&!$#&% LOOSER! Just because things don't go her way, she blows up! Nothing can ever be her fault, no, somehow she's better than the rest of us and she'e immune to any blame. We had a half day today, and when I came home, I went to bed. When the brat came home, she went on the upstairs computer. Now, we just came back from the bookstore, and my dad tells her that she can have the computer until dinner, but I get it afterwards. I was ok with that. Apparently she was too, until I agreed. Then she oes on this whole tirade about how she has to do her project so she can't go on the computer now so she should get to go on after dinner.

Fuck her.

She could have done it later! She could have done it earlier! But noooooooo she has to do it now and make everyone angry. And you know what? When Dad was yelling at her about all of this she goes, "Shut up! Shut up!" and when I was like "You could have done this later or earlier" she said "I SAID SHUT UP!" and she slammed the drier door closed.

She has problems. She's always blowing up at the littlest of things. She never respects anyone. She's using all of this fould language. And she's just an all time BITCH.

Thursday, October 30, 2003 09:52 a.m.

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! My program doesn't work properly! Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!! #$)(^!(#$)%*!)$^*#_)$%!_#$&!_%) It'll work for everything that has the second number read in under 34, but nothing above it. And out of the 5 testing numbers Hahne gave me to test, 3 of them are over 33. That means I won't get full credit on my program, and I NEED all the points I can get. I WANT AN A!!!!! Hopefully, I'll have one when I see my grade report in a few minutes. I highly doubt it though. T.T

Last night was fun fun. I had dinner with Sara and went to the mall with her. for dessert we had something called a Bananna Springroll. It was heavenly. There were 6 pieces of bananna wrapped up in the crispy thing that is wrapped around ring rolls. There was also coconut icecream, strawberries, blueberries, and caramel covering it all. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. ::drools:: And the arrangement it came in was beautiful too. There was a mint leaf on top of the icecream and I ate it. It tasted kinda funny.

At the mall we went to Walden Book store and guess who we met? Colin! Wow, he's grown so tall. I'm so short; it's not fair. T.T We also talked to this guy for a long time about books and authors. It was fun! ^_______^

The moment of truth comes...I'm getting my grade report.

Spirit Week

Friday, October 24, 2003 09:23 p.m.

Well, it's the end of spirit week today. It was so much fun! Atholton is so spirited; a lot of people participate and that's what makes this week so fun. :p I've heard that a lot of other schools don't have that much school spirit.

Here are the days:
Monday: Wacky Tacky day
Tuesday: Twin day
Wednesday: Costume day
Thursday: Class Theme day (Freshmen: Spiderman, Sophmore: Mario, Junior: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Senoir: Batman) This was actually quite interesting.
Friday: Spirit Day

All three grades also decorated their hallways based on thei theme. The Junior's had the best hallway; it totally rocked. The Senior's hallway was pretty cool too. ^_______^

Spanish

Tuesday, October 7, 2003 08:26 p.m.

I have a spanish test tomorrow and I haven't really studied yet. I really should go study 'cause I'm failing Spanish. >.< I seriously am. Spanish is so much harder this year. It's probably because we're mooving so much faster and I've forgotten most of it. >.<

My dad should be coming home today but he hasn't yet. My mom's leaving Thursday morning. >.< Hopefully she'll find the DVDs I want. :P Cross your fingers folks!

At home

Sunday, October 5, 2003 11:32 a.m.

At home today. It's a long weekend!!! ...must do homework... >.< I shouldn't have procrastinated so much. On a brighter note, I actually have a good idea for a book! ^_______^ Am I actually gonna write it? dunno. ::shruggz::

.Hack//Sign

Sunday, September 28, 2003 08:53 p.m.

Well, I'm in the middle of the 13th episode for .Hack. I honestly think this anime could move a little bit faster. It's really slow, almost like NOIR. The first 13 episodes could have been like 4. The idea of this anime intrigues me but they could have done a better way of presenting it. I'm still really confused. :p

ARG! This stupid cold won't go way! >.< I can't stop coughing!

Wednesday, September 24, 2003 09:39 p.m.

OMG. I'm feeling sooooo stressed right now. I have all this junk to do and I already know I'm not going to be getting much sleep for the next two days. High school sucks sometimes. If this was middle school, I'd be like "Forget this. I don't care anymore." Alas, I can't do that anymore because everything counts.

I have a HUMONGO paper due Friday, a loooong chapter to read and outline (also due Friday), a Spanish test tomorrow(I really need to do well on it but I'm probably not going to), a english VOCAB test on Friday, and two english assignments to do. Can you spell NO SLEEP?

Math team

Wednesday, September 24, 2003 05:52 p.m.

My essay

Sunday, September 21, 2003 12:11 p.m.

OMG. I stuck the floppy that had part of my DoP essayin it and the compie said it didn't work. I totally freaked out and I think I broke my floppy now. SO, as a precaution, I'm gonna stick it on here.

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 was held to revise the Articles of Confederation, but when the Constitution was written, it would become one of the greatest gatherings in American history. From the general, George Washington, to the man that contributed the most to the ideals of our government today, James Madison; each man that attended was a hero in his own right. The most controversial issue that was debated before the convention began was whether or not George Washington should attend. Some delegates said that George Washington should be present because his presence equaled legitimacy; he was the very symbol of liberty to revolutionaries everywhere. Others said that Washington shouldnt attend because if he did, and something went wrong, his influence would become depleted and they wouldnt have someone that the people trusted on their side. However, the greatest issue that the delegates knew they would be facing at the Convention was the adjudicating between power and liberty. The government must have enough command to be effective, but it must be sufficiently controlled so that it could not rob the people of their liberties Madison stated. The delegates decided to hold the convention in Philadelphia because it was the largest American city at the time, and it was centrally located. Philadelphia cultivated the arts and sciences and with all of its extensive libraries, The delegates would be meeting in an atmosphere of seriousness and high-minded intellectualism. The convention itself was planned to start on May 14, 1787; however, since the uncertainties of travel, such as the weather, could not be controlled, it actually began on May 29, 1787. Even so, some delegates arrived earlier than the proposed date. For instance, one of the most influential men there, James Madison, arrived eleven days in advance.

Madison arrived earlier so that he could write up the difficulties that the states were posing the national government. These difficulties included the fact that the states wouldnt pay up when the national government requested, they constantly encroached on the authority of Congress, they violated treaties made by the national government, and they trespassed on one anothers rights. Because of this, Madisons main idea was that the government must be powerful enough to be effective and so that it could control unruly factions (in this particular situation the factions would be the states), but not so powerful that it could interfere with the legitimate liberties of the citizens. According to Madison, the national government should have more power than the state governments. If the country was to have any stability, it must have a national government capable of preventing states from passing then; in other words, the national government should have powers like the ability to veto state legislation. The states would still have some powers, but they would be subordinately useful. Of the three basic principles that Madison brought with him, the first one, national principle, stated, government should arise from the people and act on them directly, rather than through states. Madison believed that the legislation shouldnt be based on population in each state because that would give more power to some states than others. The second principle was the idea of the separation of powers. Powers should be dispersed through the government so that no single person or group of people had absolute control. Madison believed that men in power were not to be trusted because, all people were ultimately self-serving. This lead to his final principal of checks and balances. A government, Madison pointed out, had to be constructed in such a way that nobody had complete control. Madison brought with him many brilliant ideas to the convention, and it was said the everything in Madisons plan was meant to curtail, contain, constrain power wherever it might lie.

If men were angels, no government would be necessary, Madison stated; he believed that humans were neither purely good nor evil. One of the most important forces impelling human beings into evil, Madison believes, was the tendency to form factions. Factions, also known as interest groups, are compelled to go against each other because of the various and unequal distribution of property. In other words, people (in factions) are against others because there is always something that someone else has that they want. According to Madison, no faction should be allowed to dominate in the government; that is, no one should be able to control the government. He believed that an extended republic would curb the power of factions because they would be spread so thin they could not cause mischief.

Now here's the comic analysis:

Serena Chen 9/19/03 Pd. 3A

Title: Pearls Before Swine Date: September 2003 Source: Washington Post Author: Stephan Pastis

This cartoon was meant to poke fun at President Bush. It is making fun of the fact that the President is bombing countries without solid evidence because it suggests that the President might as well bomb all the countries in the world even if they are innocent. President Bush bombed Iraq without the approval of the UN under the pretense that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Thus, the author also makes a joke about how the President shouldnt waste his time in trying to get the UNs approval since he didnt have it when he bombed Iraq. The author of this comic obviously thinks President Bush is stupid because he makes Bush forget that Hawaii is part of the US; the entire purpose was to make fun of Bush.

I STILL DON'T HAVE POWER!!!! >.< Iris says she's gonna call BGE tonight to yell at them. Lol.

Stuck in the elevator

Saturday, September 20, 2003 03:24 p.m.

Well, I got stuck inthe elevator at my mom's office for an hour. Iris and my mom were there too. It wasn't all that great, very booring. Mom flipped out and started to get a bit hysterical. I guess she's a bit claustrophobic. She says it's because she was stuck in an elevator once and that she almost ran out of air. The elevator we were in had an air vent, you could hear it.

I STILL DON'T HAVE POWER! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

NO POWER!!! T.T

Friday, September 19, 2003 05:57 p.m.

Hurricane Isabell came by yesterday...I lost my power and it's been an entire day...I STILL DON'T HAVE POWER!!!!! >.< Not fair. Everyone else has power and I don't.

Iris is an idiot. She's an irrisponsible, stupid, selfish little idiot. Because we didn't have power, we had to light candels. Mom went down to the basement to make a phone call, and Iris (That insolent little BRAT!) had to go and do some stupid little thing THAT COULD HAVE BURNED THE ENTIRE HOUSE DOWN!!!!! You know those plastic things that come with the bread you buy? The little square thing that keeps it closed? Yea, well she wanted to see what would happen if she lit it on fire. I told her not to do it. I FUCKING TOLD HER!!! But does she listen to me? Nooooooooooooo. She does it anyways, putting the thing ontop of one of the candels. And you know what? SHE DROPS THE THING!!! She almost drops it on the placemat that could have caught on fire! SHE ALMOST DROPS IT ONTO THE WOODEN TABLE!!!!!!! She was like a millimeter away from catching the whole house on fire and killing us all. And do you know what she does? SHE LAUGHS!!!

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HER!?!?!

Oh yes, another thing. She's so fuckin SELFISH! We didn't have enough flashlights (I found two and she didn't bother finding any) and my mom found one but it didn't have any batteries. It needed two double A batteries and we didin't have any. And then the brat goes and says, "I have those batteries in my alarm clock, but I'm not taking them out because I don't want to reset my alarm clock." COULD SHE BE ANY MORE SELFISH!?!? Helloooo! We are in the drak here and we need a flashlight more than we need her fucking alarm clock! Besides, she has a watch for cryin out loud! And then she has the nerve to call me mean for not letting her use one of my flashlights! I gave one to mom and the other one I use! If she wanted a flashlight, stop being so selfish and dish out the batteries!

ARGGGG!!! THE WOULD DOESN"T REVOLVE AROUND HER!!!!!

New layout, NO SCHOOL!
