As probably some of you would have noticed, 3 things were taken off from this blog:

1. Background music
Reason: It takes forever to load the page for people with slower connection, also it did some nasty side effects to the overall coding = =; Don't ask me.
It requires a long explanation with some not-very-earthlings-friendly html terms.

2. Tag board
Reason: Spam... bahhh lahh to some of you. Also tag-board is kinda having some problems, it'll give you this endless pop-ups asking user name every time you load the page. No, there's nothing wrong with my coding. It's 100% their error. So I have to find new tag board. Until then, please stick with msn... nudge me when you need something.

3. Older archive
Reason: Pitas is slightly unique. In a way that when we archive a page, it will also automatically archive the html coding along with the page. As I stated earlier, the tag-board causing this endless pop-ups. Aaaand, since the tag-board codes were embedded into the html codes in the older pages... there you go.
December 2006 is the furthest I could get. You can try to dig up my ancient archive and open the older pages at your own risk. But... Fear the pop-ups!!!

Iris - Goo Goo Dolls

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
and sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive

Otaku Level Detector

Hidamari no Tami

For a bit of information, Hidamari no Tami ("sunny people") is one of the NoHoHon-Zoku families. They are powered by a small solar panel, relying on the light as the battery source. As the light shines on them, they'll gently sway their head until the light source is removed. The primary function of the dolls is to relieve stress from its viewer. They also function as a business card holder.

However, recently I found another useful function: an Otaku Level Detector!

What is an otaku?

Otaku is extremely negative in meaning as it is used to refer to someone who stays at home all the time and doesn't have a life (no social life, no love life, etc)
Usually an otaku person has nothing better to do with their life so they pass the time by watching anime, playing videogames, surfing the internet.
Source: Urban Dictionary

How is this working?

You see, Hidamari no Tami only work when there's light shining on the panel. As the level of light decreases, so does the power. The more light, the more energetic it will move.

Do you know that otaku often lock themself in their room, closing all the curtains and blocking all the sun light? This is due to the light which often reflects on the TV screen, making the pictures hard to be seen.
It is almost impossible for Hidamari to move in a such low-light condition.

Therefore, the less light it receives, the less movement it will make (and thus the higher level of your otaku-ness) :P

So what is your otaku level?

Please consult it with your local Hidamari.

It's rather taboo to talk about weight in New Year moments.
But I was cleaning my chat logs when I accidentally bumped into one of the conversations with Hachi.

Haha, I have to admit that it's one of the funniest convo (and weirdest too) that I've ever had last year.
(Yes, it's last year, not this year.)

Here's the excerpt. Please mind the l337 L4N9u4G3.

Y2k6 Bug

For 15 minutes I was amazed. Got suck into the colourful fireworks' sparks against the smoky sky. I stood in the Crown, along the Yarra river, with my friends. Eyes and mouth open, petrified body. The expression was priceless... hehe --> 'o'

Too bad I didn't have my camera(†) with me. The cheers, the smoke, not to mention the cool breeze. Although it was shorter than previous years, but it was still an enjoyable watch.

On my walk back there were some whackos overjoyed people who danced on an apartment balcony with JT's "Rock Your Body", yelling Happy New Year to everyone. Haha, happy new year to you too, mate!

My friend rang me this afternoon. She was dead bored waiting for a bus, which 'supposedly' come at 3. But Melbourne's bus timetables are only approximation, if you know what I mean. Ah, back to the topic. She told me how her mobile froze at exactly 12.00 am last night. We drew out several hypothesis and happy with a solution - That it was a 6-years-late y2k bug :P

Talking about y2k bugs, do you remember the rumour spread at the end of 1999? Saying that computers and all electronic devices will crash? Including TV. Yes, the good old Baird's television. Don't ask me how. I still can't comprehend it myself. It's funny when you think about it now though: how silly the rumour was and, most importantly, how dumb we were to believe it! Hahaha. My friends even said that the dooms day was approaching! (Thus we better repent our sins)

I still remember I was waiting the last seconds towards the dooms day y2k. As we did the countdown, being an 11 years old, I was waiting anxiously, wondering if there would be things such as aliens invasion or Godzilla roaming the streets right after the clock strikes 12. Something as dramatic as Cruise's "War of the Worlds". But (to my disappointment) there was none, nil, NaDa.

So folks, learn the lesson.

How's your New Year? Hope 2007 will be a great and prosperous year to you all.

Cheers!

Doesn't it remind you of Chinese new year? :P
