Someone just posted on the dorm conference about putting a bike into storage, "would i get it down there, short of bringing it inside and dragging it down the stairs?" I had to resist the urge just now to reply, "Try the elevator," 'cause with a reply that brief I KNOW it would've looked pert online. But, yeah - hello, elevator?

AAAAAAAAAAH!!! I thought this Rise of the Novel exam would be easy to BS, but it's still a pain!!!!!!! And what's worse... I've discovered an Apple IIc emulator, which means I spent some time playing Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, not to mention someone posted a FABULOUS link to an online version of Duck Hunt. Damn damn ducks and that damn damn dog snickering at me. Some of you may know how I tend to shout or scream when playing video games ^^ yeah, I can be that competitive... it made my neighbor ask if I had lost a big important paper on my computer, because of my shouting. Ha ha.

My room is so trashed right now. Everyone's been exchanging presents - fun fun!! I have some very sweet and thoughtful friends =) although, it can be scary sometimes, how well they know me... case in point - the Bushisms calendar...

Your summing up of MLS was pretty much my reaction as well. GodDAMMIT I KNEW it would have been a better thing to go see RotK instead of MLS! Morgaine, I'm gonna have to slap you (if you read this)... The only likable thing about the plot was the love story between Connie and Charlie, and even that was messed up (a little more exposition on that would have been nice, I thought). Giselle really didn't do anything except stand in the rain and pout. Julia Stiles SOOOO needs to lose that faux Brit accent - my god, I could do a better one than that, and I suck at that kind of thing! As for Kirsten Dunst (sigh) what happened to her career? I used to like her (like, when she did Interview with the Vampire)... but whateva. Blaach. Like I predicted, I spent a lot of the movie guessing what buildings were being used and if I could identify any of the extras or any names in the credits (but I didn't see Amber anywhere - disappointed). It was definitely more fun seeing it with a Wellesley crowd. No one at home would've understood why I would burst out laughing when that Italian professor runs out of *MY* dorm!, or when the president prides Wellesley as being a conservative school (HA HA HA! My side's still aching over that one!).

Here's something I don't understand, though: pretty much everyone on campus who saw it is panning it, AND YET the seniors online are declaring they want little red beanies with our class year on them, just like they had in the movie. WTF? If the beanies were already something we were planning on doing then fine but don't tell me we're actually gonna let the movie make us squeal "I WANT A BEANNIE JUST LIKE THEY HAD IN THE MOVIE!"... 'sides, how the hell are they gonna fit over our motorboards?

They closed my dorm's dining hall. KER FRIGGITY. I knew about it but forgot as I rushed down this morning... not a happy revelation...

2 exams done! 1 more to go! Huh. Huh. Signs that I'm losing it: when writing out a check for $40, I kept misspelling "forty"... I emailed my sensee about a recommendation that she had already given me, but that I thought I had sent to the wrong program (she laughed when I apologized today)... oversleeping naps... watch the list grow...

Bad, bad procrastination...

Telefact courtesy of Morgaine and Hamlet ripoff written by Te.

iambic pentameter not included. :-)

to study, or not to study, that is the question:
whether 'tis nobler for my mind to suffer
from being stuffed with outrageous knowledge,
or to draw a bath and nap in a sea of bubbles,
and by failing end my academic career. to sleep, to sleep -
no more - and by a sleep to say we sleep
for more than five hours continuously
without finals anxiety nightmares. 'tis a consummation
devoutly to be wished. to die, to sleep;
to sleep, perchance to dream. ay there's the rub,
for that sleep may never ever come,
'til i have shuffled off this mortal coil.
i cannot pause. why do finals make
such calamity of so short life?
for who would bear the whips and scorns of tests,
th'professor's wrong, the cell phone's contumely,
the pangs of unwritten papers, the server's delay,
the insolence of pop-up windows, and the spurns
that patient merit of th'crashing computer takes
when she herself might her quietus make
with a bar of chocolate?

Things I really should keep record of/a running list:

Every time Bobabel says something that makes her face turn bright red

Things Te says - combined with the list of new swear words she and I make up

All of the Noodlers' plans to make life miserable for the uber-obnoxious sophs (or are they first years?) who live in the 2nd floor link

Number of times I say/think "I hate the people who live around me" (this does not include my friend across the hall, obviously) and wish I could buy a snare or bass drum so I could bang on it at obnoxious hours in the wee early mornings and WAKE UP THE WHALE WHO LIVES ABOVE ME (note: I am being really, really mean-spirited here)

Amount of money I win/lose on Las Vegas solitaire

Number of hours I lose (no winning) by playing solitaire

Number of times I tell pseudo-Frat-Boy "you suck" "bite me" and other such choice euphemisms

Am I forgetting anything?

P.S. If you didn't see Full Metal Alchemist 7-9 tonight and don't care about spoilers (although, you really really should see these episodes!!):

NOOOO! Our worst fears were confirmed - the adorable little girl Nina and her dog were KILLED! It was the most difficult thing to watch tonight - I was actually in tears, and I think Te was also a bit teary. Nina's father Tucker, under pressure to produce a chimera that can communicate in order to keep his grants and title, ends up using Nina and Alexander (the uber-cute dog) to create the chimera - turns out he's done it before with Nina's mother, whom Nina thought had disappeared. When this dog-shaped chimera with Nina's long hair calls Ed "Oniichan"... it was the most heartbreaking thing to watch!! Especially after all those adorable scenes of Ed and Al playing with Nina. How could they make shounen anime so horribly angsty?! *sigh* Anyway... Ed is horrified and ready to kill Tucker when he's discovered what he's done (the punches he gave him were really well-deserved)... and he attempts to restore Nina and the dog, but instead the chimera is killed by the cross-face guy (out of sympathy - but that still doesn't change the fact that he's a bastard who killed Nina and the dog!!). Ed does not take this well and is practically having a mental breakdown because of this and because of his and Winry's nearly being killed by a serial killer when he tries to find who killed Nina. Even though Ed's really badly affected by all this Al surprisingly doesn't seem to have much of a reaction, except to strengthen his determination to get his own body back, even if it means being looked upon with contempt as a military henchman - something Ed is less eager to be. Episode 9 wasn't so angsty, but 7 and 8 were just SO HEART-WRENCHING... I don't think I've cried watching an anime last since Spike died (and before that, Nuriko's death)... why did they have to give the little girl and her dog such a horrible fate?!?

*sigh* So. Can you tell I'm still upset after watching this?

EVIL BASTARDS

They've raised their prices. AGAIN. This has to be the 4th raise this semester, no exaggeration! Here's my rant I posted to Community on the stupidity of it all (part of the email, anyway):

Just did a little math. My first year, Airporter was $20 per student (this was 2000-2001). SINCE THEN their rates have gone up

65%!

It seems to me that once the competition of US Shuttles was out their prices kept going and going up. Especially THIS SEMESTER ALONE the rise in prices has been RIDICULOUS! My receipt from this past August says $27 - the jump from August to now alone is 25%!!! Whether this rise in prices is because they've got no competition or because their own costs are going up more, I don't know... but it seems to me, if the Airporter realizes it'll have a healthy pool of reliant clients (like us) who will be willing to pay $33, they're not going to consider lowering it.

I haven't used them since I came back to campus in August and I never intend to use them again - what can I say, I'm kechi but they're takasugi!

I've come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a normal person in the city you live in, based on what you have said about your driving test. Well, you never know, maybe someday you can incorporate that scene into a movie screenplay and make it a part of iconic pop culture for all eternity.

I got a call from my cousin applying to Swellesley - she knows the school sent out letters yesterday and that she'll receive hers either Saturday or Monday. Wow, since when did high school become such a hell? I was never this anxious about my letters when I was in high school, was I? (I mean, I got almost all rejection letters so it's not like I was holding my breath or anything.) And she's taking 4 APs in one semester, too - that's more than I took all 4 years of high school. The times, they are a changin'... She wants me to nudge to her mom (my aunt) about giving her an extra week off for her winter vacation, and to let her see her friends over winter break (apparently my aunt wants her to just rest and won't let her socialize with her friends who live at home). Ahh, pressure pressure - poor kid! Well I'll see what I can do (I don't know about the taking a week off part, but I'll see about the other thing) - although I don't think I have as much influence as people think I do ^^()...

Is it irony that when I finally decide to do some astro studying, I realize that I need the Internet to do some parts, only for the network to go down campus-wide?

OK, I'm interested in hearing the rest of your story about the DMV. It wasn't like in Clueless I guess, huh. Well same city right? Anyway, congrats on the license - now finish the story...

GASP! YOU updated!

Have been eating an insane amount of Clementines and Cheetos lately. Very orange foods. Not to mention, I still have 3 boxes of Easy Mac sitting on top of my fridge. I don't even like that color (except on baka nekos).

Happy Birthday Fuzzy Bob!

Last day of classes for the semester was today - man, it feels like a Friday, but I can't sleep in tomorrow (still have to go to work! Boo). Our Shakespeare performance went great - Te had people laughing with the whole pie thing. People were laughing sooo hard. The only sucky thing was, the videorecording that was done today didn't have any sound! You can see us but you can't hear nothing. (Which is good in some ways because I did not want to be reminded of just how badly I sung in class today.) Strawberry rhubarb pie is never gonna be the same =)

Just got the most threatening voice mail from my mother - can you guess what it's about? Yup, yearbooks and senior portraits. X_x I don't know WHY she wants a copy of my yearbook... yearbooks are nice in theory for everyone else, but:

1. I don't want to pay $65 bucks

2. I am not going to know 90% of the people IN the yearbook, and I can keep nice pictoral memories of my friends on my own - I don't need a yearbook for my memories

3. For student orgs they don't really detail who's in the org, which makes sense for some orgs, but others - well I'm sorry but I don't see how they pick and choose the details they want in the book...

4. Why the hell do my parents suddenly care what I do at school? If they really cared they would've come visit me a few times instead of being Wellesley-phobic and demanding that I come see them somewhere AWAY from Wellesley.

5. I hate having my picture taken already, and supposedly the people doing the senior portraits make you do weird poses - something similar to what the actors do with their hands in the live action Sailor Moon...

Mom told me at the end of the message to call her back (still in threatening voice). Am I going to? Heck no. Not if she's gonna involve me in another argument.

I did something rather guiltifying yesterday... Two of my friends gave me a Sam Goody's gift card way back in October for a present, and I was saving it all this time so I could buy the X-men 2 DVD which was suppose to come out during Thanksgiving break. I was really excited about using it to buy the DVD, too. But by the time I came back from Thanksgiving, the Sam Goody in the ville began CLOSING down its store and wouldn't accept gift cards anymore - which means going to either Natick or Downtown Crossing to find another Sam Goody that would accept it. And, although the card SAYS that it can be redeemed online, their website states that they are not accepting gift cards at this time. ARGH! So, just what the hell do I have to do to be able to use this gift card?! How many hoops do I have to jump through before I can buy my DVD?!... So, feeling really bad but also hopeless, I asked my two friends if I could sell the card, and I did. I felt I had to sell it at a bit less than what it was really worth because otherwise I didn't think anyone would want to bother buying it at the exact price. And - ARGH! It was a gift from my friends! But it was just so frustrating trying to use it, and I felt like it would take me forever to use it, so I peddled it. *sigh* Do you think it was the wrong thing to do? Because I feel a bit guilty still, even though they both said it was fine with them... I hate Sam Goody right now, I really do, they must die a thousand horrible deaths for being such a pain...

Bummer bum bum. SBOG was going to bring this band, Default Outfit, on Wednesday evening... and I was kinda looking forward to it... but through some freakish nature in the scheduling system, the campus poetry magazine - the POETRY MAGAZINE of all people! - got the student center instead of us. Not cool, not cool. But the person who made the slipup, who's a really nice, sweet, oldish lady, is already feeling bad about it so I guess there's no harping on it... except now all the Sboggies want to have a drinking binge that night = which I'm not too keen on... beer and stuff just ain't my cup of tea. Am trying to think of excuses not to come ^^()() ideas, anyone?

Yay snow. Boo for it coming on the weekend. Instead of a potential snow day and cancelled classes, it started coming down like mad Friday night and totally messed up my plans to do necessary grocery/props shopping. I basically did nothing all weekend except stay in my room and read The Da Vinci Code which is really good so far but the chapters are so broken up, it feels like too quick a read. Got a lot of fascinating art history, religion, and other interesting tidbits - I especially like how it's saying that the modern world is fucked up today because of the male-supremacy ideology illegitimizing the more competent female-worshipping ideology (well, that's putting it very succtinctly). The only other real thing I did was walk all the way to Roche Bros. with Te which was kinda tough, considering all the snow out there and the cold weather. But - I got my Clementines finally!! Yum yum. AND curry powder ANDDDDD... the best thing of all - an INFLATABLE SNOW TUBE! I'm so excited to try this baby out on Severance Hill once classes are over!!!!!!

Too bad you two don't get to experience an early blizzard. *singsong* I have a snow tube! NYAH NYAH!

I am sadly, utterly, horrifyingly liking Princess Tutu more and more and more - although I don't have enough motivation to outweigh the impatience of having to sit through all these filler episodes. Mute is such a weenie guy and can fall out the window without his pants as many times as he likes for all I care (as long as we don't have to keep seeing it!!), but I really like Fakia - is he going to be Ahiru's next serious love interest?? Oh I hope so! 'Cuz it would be just plain wrong to have her end up with Mute.

Hey you - don't poke fun at Buddy's death. See, that's why you didn't get your econ class - bad karma! To paraphrase Hobbes slightly: Insult an animal, get bad luck every time!

FRIDAY! Huzzah! Am COMPLETELY done with Japanese for this semester AND I learned while talking to sensee on Wednesday that I PASSED! And apparently I *did* do better on yesterday's placement test, by 6% - woo hoo. Of course, Naka-chan got a whopping 20% improvement on hers - it pays to be partnered with the jouzu one, huh? =P Am just happy it's over, though... and next week sensee will supposedly have her baby! Omedetou gozaimasu, sensee =)

Those meteorologists were actually on target for once - when we left the Science Center the snow was coming down thick and it was sticking to both the sidewalk and the road. As Chidori might say, to-ho-ho. It's very sparkly, though - very pretty.

May I just say how much I love Al from Full Metal Alchemist. A lot of the characters in that story kick ass, expecially the military people - Hughes is so adorable, being so excited about his wife's pregancy! We kept "awwww!"-ing throughout these three episodes.

And, bonus: Anime Kingdom fansubbers today released the bonus Full Metal Panic Fumoffu episode that wasn't aired on Japanese TV!! So while we finished up Fumoffu tonight at the anime showing, it didn't end on that horrible last image of Sagara about to be killed by a bunch of naked people, but instead on Sagara saving Chidori once again - the nice guy way. Ahhh. I hope I hope they make more Fumoffu.

Hannibal Lecter in the flesh (no pun intended)

Weeeeeeeeeeird~~!!

The culprit in this semester's string of package thefts was identified and went (or is going through) Gen Judic - I got a call from the police officer handling the case this morning, and he said that the box my package came in was found in the culprit's room. Glad I got the update, but - I'm sorry, who's stupid enough to leave the incriminating evidence in her room after the crime is committed? I can't help thinking either the thief was really stupid or someone planted it there and framed her (possession is 9/10ths the law... so they say).

Finally the confirmation card for my JET application came home. Can relax for a bit, then work on the Earlham one. Whew. Still haven't started those American Greetings "assignments" for their job recruitment.

Wednesday, December 3, 2003 10:50 p.m.

Interesting thing happened tonight at our Shakes rehearsal.

We were in the living room of my dorm rehearsing and our professor was there as well because he wanted to see one rehearsal... I was setting up for our scene, putting a table and chairs in place, but what I didn't realize (and what one of my classmates was trying to warn me without letting the professor know) was that in the seat of one of the high-back chairs were several condoms... if I had put the chair into place the professor probably would have seen it... and I didn't realize they were there until just before and I stopped myself, like, "Oh, you know, I think I'll just get this other chair" and turning the first one so that you couldn't see the condoms in there... Yeaaah. It's weird enough to have to escort your professor through the dorm, it would have been even more weird if he did see those condoms (which were apparently left there by some first years who did a skit after dinner tonight). Good thing my friend caught me.

WOW what a shitty flight to D.C. Charleston, Washington AND Boston all had massive winds and turbulence today when I was flying back and if it wasn't for the fact that I hadn't eaten anything for more than 18 hours at that time, I probably would have thrown up landing in Washington. MI-SER-A-BLE! Yeah, bad time to be traveling: 4 hours of sleep, teeth in pain after braces were tightened (although, not as bad as last month's thank goodness), horrible flying to Boston, horrible maneuvering through the T, horribly cold walk from commuter station back to campus. I wanna curl up into bed now.

"I am going to send a certain sniper with red speedos to dispatch you..." - Did I say that?? I vaguely remember it but... not very clearly... Did I really say that???? (Apparently I say a lot of things I don't remember. Ask my cousin Reggie about my dad and the "Native American" story.)

Telling my mops that I have too much schoolwork ain't gonna let me off the hook about the senior portrait. And, she had yet ANOTHER hissy fit about the whole electric toothbrush debacle this morning - I'm thinking she purposely stopped thinking about it after the orth visit because she didn't want to drop me off at the airport all scowling and mad. Oi. You've never met my ma. I'm sure if you did you'd think she's very cute like all my other friends but... yeah. Lets just leave it at that.

But... okay. So, the "return envelope" you were talking about was really the confirmation card, right?? So, I don't have to freak out and call the embassy all panicky, right??? Dammit, I put my home address of the confirmation card - I've told my mom to let me know if I get any mail but I guess this means I'm gonna have to call everyday if I wanna find out. D'oh diddily d'oh. And yes, being linked by the Queen of... Something Honorific (I dunno, someone give me a nice title), the Keeper of Bishounen, the Keeper and Trainer of Animals and Mascots is indeed an honor and a privelege. Dammit, can't spell priveledge. PRIVILEGE.

I need sleep.

Monday, December 1, 2003 01:04 a.m.

Baaah. Dial up shouldn't take this fricking long.

Less than 8 hours before I have to truck it to the orth and then go directly to the airport. All that homework I brought home this Thanksgiving - how much of it did I get done? Practically none! That paper I need to do for Shakespeare - PLLLLLLLLLLBBBTH. Although, I *am* making very good headway on the Novel assignment - I did a comic strip version of Emma, chibi-style of course. I'd scan it in and post it here using my sister's bought-on-a-whim-but-left-behind scanner/printer/copier, except the genius sibling of mine apparently didn't leave behind the installation CD for the scanner. Bah. Typical sister - this is the same one who wiped out a harddrive years ago when she first got her palm pilot.

Mops and I have been waging a war of sorts recently - she's demanding that I brush my teeth too hard with regular toothbrushes and wants me to use an electronic brush that stops automatically when you push too hard (except, the electric toothbrush she wanted to give me DIDN'T stop automatically), and I've been pestering her to stop the food indulging and get her cholesterol level checked again. OK, now you decide: who's more justified? Me, since Mom's last checkup said she had a level of 200+ and has virtually no self-control with the meat when I'm not around, or Mom, who hasn't even seen me brush my teeth and won't even take into consideration the fact that my grinding my teeth might be the real reason I have gum problems? Bah!

And if that wasn't bad enough she's also really hassling me about getting a senior portrait done and buying a yearbook. *rolls eyes* You people at school know how resistant I am to the idea of doing that. Just think of the chaos that is guaranteed with an argument like that.

Forgot, cousin still wants to check mail, have been here too long. When I get back to school tomorrow I'm most definitely calling AOL to cancel.

Saturday, November 29, 2003 09:39 p.m.

Owww. Horrible, horrible cramp in my lower torso.

My Honda is, sadly, going to be taken by my sister to Cleveland because her Nissan has a leaking gas tank and it's going to stay at the dealer here in Charleston for a while. SADNESS! My car, my lovely jah-dong-cha!

Felt so proud that I bought a lovely pair of boots today - my feet are the pickiest in existence yet these are just so nice and comfy. My younger cousin actually submitted himself to our (me, sis, and older cousin) will because he was trying to find clothes (apparently to impress a girl at school ^_~) so we dragged him through Gap, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc. making him try on clothing. I thoroughly WARNED him, though, that he should know what he was getting himself into - 'cuz remember I've been subjected to similar torture under my mom, aunt, and cousin ^^

You have been watching a lot of anime - you and Trang marathoning together?

What do you mean about a return envelope? Huh???? Did you mean the confirmation card for the JET application???? Please for the love of god don't tell me I forgot something seemingly insignificant as a RETURN ENVELOPE because I am almost positive that JET said they wouldn't be returning anything...

Am rather disappointed that Bernie did all this cajoling to Susie about coming home for Thanksgiving and Susie and Jess end up being sick the entire time =( boo hoo...

Think must go, the cramp is getting worse and I'm sure my cousin wants the dial-up now.
