What, what, WHAT could compel me to install AOL onto my computer?! Am I that desperate to have internet access while I'm at home?! *sigh*
I should be working and forcing my high school senior cousin to do her homework too. The two of them have been watching a lot of movies and TV at home, which is fine since I'm sure they need the break.
I should be doing work too, but have been spending most of my time watching TV (gasp, TV!), sleeping, and reading "Lost in a Good Book" which is the second in the Thursday Next series. It's good so far - got the usual weirdness you find in a Thursday Next novel. Makes me wonder if I should start getting into crossword puzzles, they sound more and more like fun ^_^
Currently listening to Gackt's "Secret Garden." The man's got quite a set of pulmonaries there.
Happy backstabbing-and-genociding-the-Natives-and-then-posthumously-honoring-them-while-their-descendants-languish-on-casino-reservations Day... I mean, happy Thanksgiving ^_^

Darnit. Apparently I like Hamlet too much - I had a vague memory that I already did a certain type of assignment on Hamlet for my Shakespeare professor last year, but I didn't actually think I really forgot about it. Can't hand in the same paper to the same professor two years in a row. Must now think of something else - d'oh.

Someone actually stole the last half pint of cream and cookies you had given me for my birthday. Dammit. I wonder if these people realize just how old that ice cream was. Can you get, like, salmonella from ice cream? ^_^

Jiayang, nice to see you update finally, but wtf?! You can't get OVER the obsession YET! I'm still on a Fumoffu high!! (I mean, look at my blog for pity's sake!!) If you get over it then who's going to understand me when I start marching in Fumoffuism (or Fumoffuan, or Fumoffuese, or Fumoffuish)?!
These past two days I've been very very bad about napping - I keep dozing off during the day, leaving me unable to sleep at night, and then feeling wasted the next morning, only to repeat the same process again. I managed avoid doing this for SO LONG and now I guess my enforced sleeping habits are breaking down into my natural nocturnal pattern. Honestly, someone, if you see me sleeping or dozing off and it's not even 10 PM SLAP ME.
On the other hand - I sent off the JET application today. Whee! Of course now I'm suffering from the "I feel like I forgot something" syndrome because they're SO demanding in this application. Couldn't fit everything into the envelope that came with the application, it was too many papers.
Hard to believe that today was a Monday and that by this time tomorrow I'll be home back in Charleston. Have to carry a ton of work with me (ugh). I actually feel like it's a Sunday night right now - bad, bad, you're not on vacation yet Poundcake...
Have been watching more of Planetes (how DO you pronounce it??) - really am enjoying it so far. Tanabe (voiced by the same actress who did Kaname in FMP, Kagome in Inuyasha, and Milly in Trigun - how's that for interesting?) actually did something non-weenie in episode 4 - she punched this annoying rich daddy's boy smack in the face!! HARD!! Hee hee, made me cheer for her, despite her earlier annoyances. I'm going to watch the rest of Planetes (only 6 episodes total released so far) and GitS SAC at home - I'm trying to think of other anime to load onto my computer for vacation viewing. Suggestions?

I sent the JET application in today!!! Yay! One down, (one?) to go...

Damn you! I just had "By the love of God" looping several times on my computer like a broken record because something was wrong with that Rejected clip I got from you - only to snap the computer out of it and hear "MY ANUS IS BLEEDING."
Damn you!!

Another thought on Fumoffu:
OK, at least the fansubbers Anime Factory and Anime Fansubbers should be given credit. After that last image, you see a happier, nicer, brighter series of clips from the series, like Sousuke and Kaname on the bike, and the fansubbers run their credits with pleasant music in the background. It somewhat dispels the horror of the image before, so nice job, fansubbers - but STILL, how could the ANIMATORS end it like that?
>=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3x >=3xSaturday, November 22, 2003 01:59 p.m.
I also saw the last Fumoffu last night. WHAT. THE. HECK? Highlight if you want to continue:
OK, so it was funny and good in the usual Fumoffu sense - naturally Sousuke had the entire school out for his blood - but the ending SOOOO creeped me out. It might have just been the fansubbers (I got the Anime Factory/Anime Fansubbers release), but the very last scene that has "END" written on it is a still image of a very creepy-looking Sousuke about to get lynched by his classmates - it's a REALLY scary looking picture, not at all the image I would want to use as the very last image of Fumoffu. The picture's all red, and you can't see Sousuke's face but you can see the grimace of his teeth, and he's surrounded not by people but by arms holding knives and stuff reaching towards him... it's the moment where he's trapped and right before the mob lynches him. SO SCARY!! Why the hell would you want to leave that lasting impression on your audience?!? I don't want my last image of Sousuke to be drenched in blood like that!! Fumoffu was HAPPY and FUNNY up til this last scene!! Oh, why?!?! WHY?!?!

*sigh* Yeah, I know the hair dye's gone. I think one more shower and it will be completely gone, and then I can start afresh with the dye Twiddly lent me (thanks!). And hopefully the parental units won't notice. Actually, my hair has been like a morphing chameleon lately - I get asked all the time, even "Did you cut your hair again?" Which is kinda cool - depending on how it's styled, it looks totally different every time.
There was some kind of network failure last night - turned my computer off for like the first time in a week. Since we're not watching the live action Sailor Moon anymore I went ahead with episode 7 (turns out the turtle guy is claustrophobic - how can you be claustrophobic and survive in a place like Tokyo, I wonder? And what self-respecting male college student would carry around a TURTLE backpack and carry around lemon slices for when he hiccups when gets too close to girls?). I also watched the first of PLANET ES last night - that was a lot of fun, reminded me a bit of Otomo Katsuhiro's "Memories" except more light-hearted and entertaining, less serious. I would recommend it for next semester - it's got your favorite kind of male character, the perv! (I know you'd like this perv, you - he fits in with the other pervs you like =)
Also we finished the first season of Princess Tutu - why are you so surprised that we all were warming up to Fakia? The guy was SO creepy at first, and then he ended up being a nice guy and the only one really doing anything active (c'mon, what's a more effective way of fighting - swinging a sword, or TIPTOEING in a tutu?) - not only that but it felt like they wanted to create him as a love interest for Ahiru. Which I wouldn't mind, considering just how weenie chick Mute is - I like Fakia much better.
Oh, and about my plant's name - if you give up, it's (highlight here) Kiedis.
Now here's another one for you: try saying this fast 10 times... Four of Fumoffu and Two of Tutu, or Two of Fumoffu and Four of Tutu. (No cheating!)

Red. Hot. 6 letters.

Music I'm currently listening to - you can download it hereGranted, they're a Korean band. They're a very COOL Korean band, but nonetheless, I can't understand a damn word of Korean. *sigh* Oh well. Eternally grateful to Cathy-san for introducing me to Cherry Filter.

THURSDAY IS OVER! Well, almost over. Thank god. I still have a drumming lesson at 7:45 - part of me is looking forward to showing my instructor my buzzing and rolls, but part of me is clamoring, "WHY CAN'T I CRAWL INTO BED AND SLEEP?!" Tomorrow's gonna be SUCH a breeze after today. Went to bed last night at 3 AM, and then had to go to work at the ungodly hour of 8:30 AM. I've forgotten that people actually have class and breakfast at that hour, and that *I* used to have class at that hour! Five days a week! Good lord!
The Japanese midterm was a bitch. Ugh. UUUUGH. I must think happy thoughts, like the very nice Astro exam I got back today - I may fail Japanese, and I may skip out on a lot of my English novel class, but it makes me happy knowing I'm still able to kick butt in at least ONE of my subjects. Woo hoo Astro! And our prof gave a really interesting lecture about her own research on finding big planets around IC38..6, I think, a cluster in Perseus. She's so cool with lectures, you know?
I'm very sorry you're having a hard time with the first years - scarily enough, I think I might know exactly who you're talking about... Think happy thoughts, nee?
I feel a HUGE weight has been lifted off me now that Thursday's as good as done, and there's nothing too terribly pressing over my head until after Thanksgiving (when all the shit falls down together), except the JET application. I just need to put stamps on the baby, get the recommendations, get the enrollment verification form, and I'm DONE!
Oh, and our Wellesley Dream is going to come true - the college has managed to secure rights for us students to see the film in Natick 2 days before it opens nationwide. For FREE, too. How nice of them is that?? So many of us now will be able to (1) satisfy our curiosity about what the hell was going on last year and (2) shout "HEY! THAT'S AMBER!" at the screen and not annoy complete strangers when we see someone we recognize appear as an extra. Or, "HEY! That's Founders!" "That's Tower Court!" "THAT'S MY ROOM!" (I think I might be able to say that safely considering they practically took over the dorm we three lived in our sophomore year.)

It is SO NICE to finally have a day where I don't have either work or class. Actually, I kind of defeated the purpose of not having work today by, um, going to work. My boss said I could have today off if I came in Thursday morning instead (8:30 AM!!! uuugh!!!), but then like a sympathetic dork I claimed a desk shift for a student who's sick. Dope, me.
The JET application is ALMOST, almost almost done! I just need to really get that dumb statement of intent cranked out. I hate writing these kinds of things. You two make it seem so damn easy... By the way, what job did you take in Kansas?!?!? Ahem, details please??
I hope you're feeling better - well, wait, come to think of it I saw you at Knapp yesterday. Duh. Fully recovered?
A woman carrying the cutest Jack Russell terrier just came to the Knapp desk. KAWAII!! God, I miss having a dog so much, and the JRT only reminded me of my poor fated Scout. I miss my Katie especially.

HOLY crap?!
If I were on the other side I would thoroughly enjoy the long thread on Community concerning musical acts people want for the Spring Concert. But - GEH. People sure have high expectations of us now! Well, madame, what do you think? Think it's possible to make EVERYONE on campus happy?

If you haven't seen it yet Andy click here! (Or I might say "You Suck" again)
Odd, everyone seems to update their blogs late Sunday nights. Or maybe I just need to refresh the pages everyone once in a while?
Hmm, okay, this is fast descending into a "who's worse, Maine or West Virginia" debate. Which is odd, because with Karla it was a "who's cooler, New Jersey or West Virginia" debate. (I guess NJ isn't the armpit of America anymore.) As to the rape and incest thing - wow, you make Maine sound *so* exciting. @_@
I've basically did nothing, absolutely NOTHING today but Japanese. Arrrgh. Rotten stupid lousy KANJI and manic depressive reading assignments. Sensee sure like giving us reading on really morbid topics or stories.
Don't forget it wasn't just undisciplined, Madame Viligent. Ha. Just now when I typed "undisciplined" into my electronic dictionary I forgot the first "n". The two of us are really doomed, aren't we... And I even went so far as to download Bryan Adams' duet (or, um, trio? Triet?) with Sting and *gasp* ROD STEWART. Oh yes I am really descending.
Speaking of which, you might be interested to know that there's a huge thread on Community about what musical acts people want SBOG to bring to campus next semester. Oi. I think our DOOCA opened a can of worms with her initial post - 'cuz people are asking for the impossible (well, I think they're impossible) like Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, etc. I'm obliged to keep SBOG proceedings a secret, but I think I can safely say that there's no way in heck we can get those acts. So now that people are getting their expectations up *already*, what are we going to do when we end up getting a semi-decent/semi-famous act instead of a big one?
You are very evil. How dare you IM me one instant and then sign off the next!
Back to the concert issue - well I guess I really shouldn't say anymore...
