I am already a hermit in real life so maybe I can be a hermit online too. I'm so tired. My stomach hurts. Shit I have a lot of stuff to take care of today. Fuck. Well goodbye.

Wow it's been a while since I wrote an entry. @_@;; Been kinda busy. After I went nuts updating my keepers list, my brother came to visit me and he brought my fixed computer. So I spent most of the weekend and Monday hanging around with him and re-installing everything back in my computer. Shit that was a pain in the ass. >_<;; And after he left, I started studying for my exams so basically, I have been too busy/going nuts to blog. x.x;; I haven't even read anyone's blog in ages. @_@;; Oro...Leareth chan...I know it was your birthday last week...gomen ne. So much stuff was happening and it went right over my head. @_@; I shall make it up to you ne? *hugs*

In other news, since I have my old computer back again I went back to my old habit of downloading tons of anime and not watching any of them. *laughs* Well actually, I watched some today because I somehow woke up at 5 am and didn't feel like going back to sleep. Got more Inuyasha (up to episode 50 baby!!) but haven't had a chance to see it. Got more Shaman King and I did see those because I love Yoh. *_* And yatta! I finally saw Horohoro! He is so stupid but very cute. *_* I wonder if the digital fansub group did any more episodes beyond #9 because I can't seem to find anymore. I also got my hands on more Hikaru no Go. Oh my gosh...Kaga is such a hottie. *_* I can't believe he was so well animated. I just wanna jump him and rip his clothes off. *_* And is it just me or is Ogata sensei really sexy? ^^;; He is kinda creepy in the manga and sometimes it feels like he is undressing Touya with his eyes. o_O;; Shotacon perv!!

I also downloaded something called Final Fantasy Unlimited but I only flipped through the first episode. From what I can see the character design is very interesting. But holy, when that Kaze guy shot off his summon creature, the little RPG melody came on when you win a battle!! I laughed so hard! I wanna glomp that chocobo. *_*

Well my brother is now in Korea. ;_; I think the earliest that he can come back is April but by then school will be over for me so most likely I will visit him. I miss him so much!! I wish he could have stayed a bit longer this weekend. ;_; Despite our differences, I am horribly attached to my brother. *sobs* I did upload a whole bunch of anime and scanlation for him so he won't be bored there. I know he is going for business but there will probably be days when he has nothing to do...and he doesn't know Korea that well ne...or have any friends yet...and I wanted to infect him with Naruto. *_* But the bum read up to book 7 before he took his computer apart. *laughs* He says he likes. *_* YES!! ANOTHER VICTIM!!

Ok I need to eat something. I feel kinda dizzy. After that, back to studying...if I can resist watching more anime that is...

Oh this is icky. x.x;; I went to sleep early (as in 1 am) and then I woke up at 6 am and haven't been able to sleep since. x.x; I think it's my body trying to set its internal clock back again. Both of my roommates were up (Joe was going to work and Ashley had stayed up all night writing an essay) and it was a warm morning with lots of socializing. ^__^ I usually wake up later than my roommates since my classes are later so it was weird seeing them both in the morning.

In other news, I moved my keepers list...again. >_<;; Esca called me last night and she offered some of her space for it. *_* Thank you my love! *smooch* So once again, the address has changed. -_-;; I will social blog since I am WAY over due but must eat breakfast first. I suspect that the real reason I got up this early was because I was starving. >_<;; I'LL BE BACK!!

[[ Thursday, December 6, 2001 || 11:57 a.m. ]]

*looks at clock* Hmm...I only had 6 hours of sleep in the last two days. I feel this bouncy feeling...like I am high on drugs. But my eyes are all gritty and painful. Well the reason I haven't been blogging is because I overhauled my keepers list. That's right, my keepers list. I was really reluctant to do it since it's so freaking big but I was getting so sick of the old layout. I thought to make it blog-like so it would be easy to maintain and update. Boy...was I wrong. >_<;; For some reason, I kept running into complications that screwed me over.

First of all, I do most of my coding by hand on Notepad. It's the way I learned and I like it that way. But usually, I am pretty lazy so I use Frontpage (EVIL!!) to do simple stuff. It just speeds it up a bit and that is convenient. I KNOW it adds a whole shit of coding that is unnecessary...but as long as the site runs the way I want it to, I don't really care. Now for some reason, the layout I was trying to do wasn't working. >_<;; The page wasn't even that complicated looking! Hell, it was downright simple and now that I look it closely, downright ugly!! Frontpage kept adding shit to it that totally screwed up how it looked. So I gave up and decided to do the whole thing by hand...

Now...my site is pretty big. I would say, one of the bigger keepers list out there considering Yami no Matsuei is unheard of to the general anime population. LOTS AND LOTS OF SHIT. @_@;; When I finally finished coding it and uploading it to Geocities, I discovered two problems:

1. Some errant coding on behalf of Frontpage (SON OF A BITCH!!) killed all of my images. -_-; So I had to manually go one by one and fixed each image link. That took A LONG TIME.

2. Some of the pages (including the main one) is pretty short in length and I purposely kept it that way...less scrolling. But for some fucking reason, the hugeass Geocities ads would pop up and lengthen the page!! I know this might not make sense to someone unless they have seen it but trust me, it pissed me off.

SOOOO...I changed servers. >_<;; Just like that. I had to go through all the sign up shit and the uploading shit and all the other shit...and now it's done. So here it is.

Damn it...I wish Tripod was fast as Geocities. >_<;; It's so slow!! But at least I can get rid of the pop-ups now with just one click. And if I leave one alone, then the rest of the pages will load without anymore pop-ups. Compared to before, that is sweet.

*looks at clock* Ok...gotta catch the bus and go to class. I will most likely fall asleep because I stayed up all night but if it's any consolation, today is the last day of classes. ^_^ Then exams start. Oh joy.

I SO can't see that.

OH MY GOD I CAN SEE ANKO'S NIPPLES! O_O;;; AND SHE'S WEARING A NECKLACE LIKE OROCHIMARU'S EARRINGS!! But you know, this picture makes sense because in the manga she is only wearing that netting thingy and nothing to cover under or over. O_O;; At least Kurenai has that bandage-like thingy to cover her. ^^;; Why are all the female ninjas dressed in the netting stuff? Even Sakura underneath her tunic is wearing it. ^^;; Maybe they are using sex appeal as a weapon too? But then wouldn't it be as effective if the men did it too? If Kakashi was only wearing netting on certain parts of his anatomy, I'd be too busy staring instead of fighting. ^^;;;

This is gonna be a long entry since I haven't blogged in a while. @_@;; I should write here more often but these days I have trouble getting out of bed. >_<;; *snuggles into her blankets and ignores world* First, the serious stuff!

I guess our differences of opinion really stems from our personalities. The things you named that obviously bothers you doesn't really get to me. ^^; Although anime and manga is an important aspect of my life (sometimes frighteningly so) at the end of the day, I couldn't care less what the other fans out there are doing. @_@;; I can usually avoid fandoms and trends that annoy me so I don't let that bother me...I just concentrate on my own enjoyment. Letting other fans out there ruin my fun seems wasteful to me. Maybe I have been lucky as well...most of the anime fans I have met in my life were really nice and we hit it off great. ^__^ Most of the annoying ones were of the stalkerish kind. O_O;; But I really do understand what you are trying to convey and I do agree it's a shame when someone takes something you love and take it apart. I think my tolerance level of these kind of people seems different from yours but on that one thought, I do agree completely. As for just liking art, I think it's because I collect manga and I can't really speak Japanese. A lot of the fans out there who buy import manga have to rely much more heavily on the art than the words so it becomes a more important factor in whether you buy the manga or not. As for me personally, I am an artist at heart and I love seeing well drawn manga. ^_^ Not just shoujo but all other genre. I mean, my RG Veda manga are stacked right beside Rurouni Kenshin and Hikaru no Go, three very different series. ^^;; But in all seriousness, I have yet to buy a series based solely on art. I usually read a manga first in Korean to see if it was a good read and then I buy it in Japanese. The RG Veda was a gift actually. *laughs* ^_^ Oh but this discussion is getting tiresome ne? I rarely feel an urge to write something serious in my blog that actually requires me thinking. @_@;; Thank you for the brainfood and the interesting topic. ^__^ I hope my difference in opinion with you haven't painted me as a heartless bitch. o_O;;;

@__~;;; I am so wasted. Since I went to sleep so damn late, I feel like a zombie right now. I think I will take a nap after I write this...my lovely bed is calling to me. *__@;;; But before I social blog, I just like to say that I am writing a fanfic. Now, to most people, they wouldn't understand the significance of this but the fact is, I haven't written fanfic in over a year. -_-;; I used to write a lot but then it just suddenly died. >_<;; My ability to write I mean. So uh yeah...last night while I couldn't sleep, I scribbled some stuff...it's not done but I have it planned out. ;__; I am kinda scared actually. *looks at the clock* It is horribly late...so why can't I sleep? O_O;;; *DIES* My roommate Joe got really pissed off today. When I came back from home from the weekend, I found that all of the cleaning I did was for naught...Ashley had already messed up everything in just those three days. -_-;; But I learned my lesson and I decided not to do her chores because then she will never learn. So I left them...and left them...and left them. -_-;; Needless to say, she didn't do anything and it got more messy. Well today, Joe lifted a pot lid in the dirty sink and a horde of fruit flies flew into his face. >_<;; Things were rotting in there...it was a bio hazard I tell ya. So just like me, he went on this angry cleaning frenzy and did all the dishes. x.x;; He didn't clean the new dirt on the living room floor though...maybe he was hoping Ashley will get a hint. -_-;; But afterwards, I went to thank him for doing it (I was in my room and I didn't noticed) and he got all angry. ;___; Joe is very scary when he is angry. ;__; I thought he blamed me for the mess but I later talked to him when Ashley wasn't there and he said he wasn't mad at me. @_@;; He said he knew the mess wasn't my fault (something to do with my eating patterns being different from Ash and he can identify which dirty dishes belong to whom. o_O;;) I had another talk with her and all she did was give me excuses. Something along the lines of "When there is so much dishes in the sink, I get intimidated and I can't wash them. That is why I spread them around everywhere so it looks like less." -_-;; Well the flaw in that is that she doesn't do them anyways AND leaves no places to eat. But I am SUCH a pushover. >_<;; I couldn't be mean to her...so I let Joe do it. ^^;; He had this grim look on his face and kinda scolded her. ^^;; I REALLY hope she got the message this time...I mean, how would you like it if flies were breeding in your kitchen sink?

I saw your lovely new wallpapers. *_* I love the OP layout too. *cries* Oh if only I could be talented like you!! And that entry on fandom that you linked was quite interesting. The likelihood of her reading my response to it is small but what the hell. ^_^ I have a feeling this is gonna be a long rant. x.x;;

I do agree with you that certain fandoms are horribly annoying and I have left mailing lists due to it. But you know what? Even the most experienced of anime fans were newbies once. We all gotta start somewhere. And due to the fact that more anime is being exposed to mainstream audiences, there are younger and younger fans. You can't expect everyone to be able to converse deep thoughts and be mature about it. To have a measuring stick to qualify as a "real fan" is ridiculous. It's the same argument I use when people say being heterosexual is "normal" and being homosexual isn't. How can you define "normal"? In our world where there is so much diveristy, people, and beliefs, being "normal" could mean a thousand things, just like being a "fan". You can't expect everyone to stick to canon because people have different tastes. Some may like it just the way it is, but others want to add a little extra. And if you don't like being surrounded with "false fans" in a clique or mailing list, then make your own niche in the world and invitation-only. It seems awfully selfish to say "Go and ruin some other series, just not the ones I like."

I also found it interesting that in your discussion of new shows (Hikaru no Go, Fruits Basket, Naruto, and One Piece) you said that people seem to be drawn to them because they are new. That seems like a very flawed logic to me since all four series is not that new. Yes, maybe new in North American soil but definitely not in Asia or to people who have easier access to manga. I have read Hikaru no Go right from the start, and I knew of Fruits Basket when there wasn't even a mention of it in any English sites. I am in all four fandoms but since it's "new" I am a sheep that goes baa and follow the trend? I don't think so. I have yet to meet one fan that belonged to any of those four shows that brought down my enjoyment. As for Naruto, yes I am quite obsessed with it but I usually keep it to myself and my circle of friends. If any of my zeal to spread the word of Naruto seem suspicious, it's because I love that show SO much and I want others to enjoy too. Not in a twisted sense or non-canon sense but for what it really is.

Yes the fandoms out there have major pitfalls. I lost count how many blatant self-insertion fics I read. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of giggly fluffy shallow fangirls out there. But the fact is, they are FANS, not "real", not "false" but fans. People have a right to like what they like and to like just certain parts. I consider myself a fan of RG Veda but it's mostly for the art since I find the characters flat and uninteresting. So does this make me a shipper? As for fanfics and fanarts, once again, you can't put a measuring stick to this. People interpret things different. I think Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter is sexy and mysterious and I love him. Most people think he is an insane pedophile clown who wears heels. So if I write a fanfic about Hisoka being sexy and mysterious, it doesn't mean I deviated from the plot but that I just wrote my take on him. You can't resent people for having different thoughts from you and having their own way of expressing it. Hell, with certain mangaka (like CLAMP) who are so freaking vague about EVERYTHING, can you blame the fandom for having its own interpretations? And let's not get into how everyone has their own way of drawing and writing. Some of the best books out that I have read follow plot formulas that are blatantly ripped from classics. Almost every single fantasy book I read had elements that reminded me of Lord of the Rings. But that's what happens when something so good and revolutionary comes out. Fans want to write something like it because they enjoyed it so much but they want to add their own creative juices to it. Can you imagine if all fantasy books out there were exactly like Lord of Rings? Metaphorically speaking, you'd be attaching dynamites to "Diversity" and blowing it to smithereens. I love X and Tokyo Babylon but I no longer read the fanfics. This is because most of them follow the same formula and there is nothing really interesting anymore. They follow the canon so faithfully that most of them seem like carbon copies of each other. If I read one more fic about Seishirou and Subaru angsting over the same old issues, I will slit my throat. But on the other hand, if you give me a Seishirou and Subaru fic where it deviates a little from the canon to make it refreshing, I am all over it. Because that is the whole idea of fandom. If you were a fan that only drew and wrote things exactly like the original, what would be the point of fandom at all? You could just stick to the original and not bother with anything else. It defeats the whole purpose of contributing something new when all you can produce are copies of the original. But don't take me the wrong way. I enjoy a good fic that has characters who are not out-of-character. But the fact is, fandom is only a reflection of the true series and can never be perfect. To place restrictions on such a broad and general idea would not only destroy it but render it utterly meaningless.

All in all, I found that your argument began solidly but soon degenerated into a whine about other fans who have different ideas and tastes from you. My advice, just leave the MLs, cliques etc that you find offensive and make your own. Or find ones that suit your tastes. To whine about "false fans" who pillage and rape series is not only childish but unrealistic. To some, your rant smacks of the very people that you are putting down. Not only does that make your arguments weak but demeans the rest of the older anime fans. Being a newbie is not a crime. Being young and liking frivilous things is not a crime. Drink some tea, relax, and think over how you were when you first became an anime fan. I bet some of the faults you find in the fandom right now might have applied to you a long time ago. I know I was certainly guilty of it when I first discovered the internet. I haven't been a giggly die-hard fangirl in a long time but I can look back fondly when I used to be fixated on small matters. Hell, I still tend to lapse into fangirlish tangents. I just make sure I don't annoy anyone. *laughs*
