I put in my 2 weeks.
I have an ipod.
Life is good.

Note to self: If I wake up and turn on the tv and see my ex-boyfriend before I've even had my coffee, I need to immediately go back to bed and skip that day.

Damn it, Damn it, Damn it
This means they'll probably move the premiere to April too.

I really was living the most boring life and I would bore myself when trying to think of something to write about so I stopped trying. But now I'm finally seeing a glimpse of the end of this nightmare job (I know I said I would be quit by now but I've realized things always take longer than I think they will). My trip is starting to seem a little more real. Also having a new boyfriend who is in a big movie adds an interesting twist. Only in my head does the fact that I'm leaving make a relationship seem okay. So I'm back to document my last 2 months here.
In the midst of the obnoxious 21 hours I worked this weekend I still managed to have a life. I saw Lost in Translation at the drafthouse. I can no longer watch movies at regular theatres. It seems wrong to watch a movie without jalapeno poppers and a pint of Dos XX. If you haven't seen Lost in Translation you must. Go now. Right now. Especially those of you who have actually been to Japan. After, F and I went downtown thinking with the gain in time bars would stay open the extra hour. I was wrong. But thats a good thing because an extra hour of drinking rarely turns out to be a good idea.
Also this weekend I found my first gray hair. Since my last post I have turned 26 and I had managed to convince myself that 26 is very young (especially when you're dating a 35 year old). But then this thick, long, bright gray hair shows up to laugh at me.

So one August entry probably doesn't require an archive. So here is what i did as September came upon us.
On Thursday I saw Pirates of the Caribbean w/ my old roommate and her new roommate. We went to Alamo which is always a good time and Johnny Depp made it even better. Then I went to the showdown where I had never been before. I got carded twice by the same bartender. I think its the outfit I was wearing. I was wearing my wildlife works t-shirt which I was wearing when I went to the library for the first time 2 weeks ago and was told by the librarian that I needed to be at least 18 to get a library card.
On saturday I worked overtime and on sunday I worked too. Happily had yesterday off and relaxed and worked out and then my mom and I went to a movie. We saw Seabiscuit at the new Alamo up north. I'm a sucker for any animal story so I of coursed loved Seabiscuit. Soon I won't be able to see movies anywhere but Alamo because I now must have their jalapeno poppers in order to fully enjoy a movie.
In other down time, I have been educating myself on the true colors of the nation. In the span of 2 weeks I have watched Bowling for columbine, listened to Stupid White Men, read Reefer madness, and kept up with all the news on salon. I'm very near total breakdown. Its too much. At first I was worried about being out of the U.S. during the election year. But now I think its the only way I'll survive. Absentee voting is looking better and better. And if things don't happen like I want them to then I can actually do what I joked about doing in 2000: become an ex-pat.

Update
Since last I wrote
- I have booked a flight!! LAX to Auckland, Dec 26.
- I am no longer in denial about not living in austin. The 40 minute drive to get to downtown forced me to face the facts.
- Finished 3 books! Order of Phoenix, Red Tent, Eighth Continent.
- Canceled and restarted my netflix membership.
- Attended the nicest wedding I'll ever go to.
- Made a new friend who also is in the new Alamo movie w/ Billy Bob Thornton.
