Well - finally have a semi-filled living room
went to Ikea today - bought a few trash cans/ a side table/ and a coffee table
now the living room is complete
as for the dining area / kitchen - it's still pretty much a mess
but i'll have to deal with that as i go
man there's a lotta college kids / young married couples at ikea - it's funny
impromptu bbq - worked out pretty well - even though it was only George - Lip - and me
everyone else i invited - couldn't make it
well that's what i get for making it impromptu :-D
anyways - it was still a good time
aite - that's bout it - probably gonna crash - unless - someone comes up with a good idea to go out

Well it's been a while since i updated
finally moved into my new apt
got everythign hooked up and stuff
work is going decently - some good stuff happened to me after my vacation
trip to the lake was badass
had a really good time
good food, good people, good times
seriously gave me a little bit more resistance to the hum drum of work.

Well it's official
i'm living on Jasmine
bout two blocks away from my current apt
the outside looks really nice
and the inside's pretty badass
even though i've only seen the two bedroom one
but the landlady said that it looks exactly the same - just with one less room

but i did see the manager's apt
which is a one bedroom
and it was huge - so can't be too shabby
900 bucks a month

Crikey - third day of looking - a couple of promising ones
two at $825 dollars and one at $875
depending on how they look, i might just take the $900 one that i saw on saturday
OR!!! if someone would be willing to give me 75 dollars a month - i could stay in my current building for 975 - the landlady said it's normally 1000 but since it's me - she'll drop 25 bucks a month.
so i guess we'll see what happens....sure as hell would be a much easier move.

Sweet - Apple just sent me a new DVD-R Drive - to replace my old one - guess for second time - it pays to buy AppleCare
first time was for my laptop - which had a slew of problems
and this time - it was a bad SuperDrive
sweetness
so when i got home - it took me about 30 mins to install - due to the fact - that apple fails to tell you that taking out the floppy drive first makes things a hell of a lot easier, otherwise it's pretty much impossible
bah - took me like 20 mins to figure that out
feeling better these days
don't know if it's cuz i hung out with some people last weekend
or maybe the coming vacation has lifted my spirits
either way - i feel a lot better

got a call from a friend for a bbq
headed over there - hung out with him and his highschool friends
they're a lot like the lynbrook crew, they grew up together - hung out together - etc....

hung out in Beuna Park - then headed to Old Town Pasadena - and watched "dodgeball," was pretty good
and the funny thing - the bar that's in the movie - is the one that's right across the street from my apt
heh - really funny to think that - it was teh same bar
after the movie - headed to South Pasadena - and just chilled - had dinner/played video games / watched a movie
pretty much stuff that i'd do at home with my highschool friends
heh - ah well - maybe i'm just homesick - and maybe i just miss my friends
but for now i guess it felt good to hang out with someone else's close knit friends

it's not that i didn't like what i saw - it's just that i was unimpressed with it

So yesterday's day of work was probably the worst that it's been
the moment i got in - i was reprimanded for mistakes of my dept
there was a clogged sink on thursday
and one of the janitors - that's under my charge
decided to remedy it himself
after i made it clear that we would fix it on friday
so he poured some HCL down the drain - thinking it would clear the clog
well it's a good idea - but unfortunately - the HCL reacted with the copper and metal of the drain and sent out pretty strong fumes into the office
at the time i was dealing with some maintenance issues - and had a few mehcanics in my office, when Randy - the industrial side manager bursts into my office - demanding - that i do something about the fumes
which i promptly did
we dismantled the sink - flushed out the liquid - and then tried to clear the office as best we could of the fumes
(this all occurred on thursday)
unfortunately - come friday - i was turned into the scapegoate
and two of Randy's employees called in sick - due to the fumes
which caused Randy to start fuming at me, first thing when i arrived (sigh)
i was brough into HR for a statement - and a recount of the incident
needless to say - it wasn't a very nice day
that didn't exactly make my day.
but a lotta people, along with HR told me not to worry about it
the two that called in, apparently are quite the bitches
complaining about every little thing
And since i had to get the MSDS's for the liquid
(poison report / treatment etc....)
it further conviced me that the two were truly taking advantage of the situation
the MSDS stated that symptoms of exposure to vapor is Irritation and slight inflamation
and treatment is FRESH AIR!!!!!!

every since i started college i've lived with someone
and of course at home i lived with my parents
and i was an only child
but for some reason - i think i'd go kinda stir crazy if i lived by myself

am i scared? or am i just used to having someone around? or am i just thinking about this too much?

So about a block away from my work
there's a motel six / gas station / denny's
it's right off the freeway exit, it's one of those long looping exits
so i take that exit every morning
so when i tried to take it this morning both the southbound and northbound exit's were blocked
so i was like wtf
so there was a cop car parked in front of each exit
and tons of cones everywhere
now there's a space where you can see the street below from the freeway - cuz there's an underpass
so when i drove past - i could see there were tons of cops completely blocking up the street - patrol cars - cops - etc....
i had to call work - and figure out how to get to work cuz i couldn't take the exit
so that's when i found out that there was a shooting at the motel six
apparently someone had called the cops and said that there was a man with a gun
officers reported to the scene
a shootout ensued
the suspect was killed
and the officer was shot in the head
hence the blocked off freeway exit etc....
man i really need to find a new job - before i get killed

and there was a couple in line in front of me
i was minding my own business and reading the label on the car kit - and the chick nearly backs into me
she hits the car kit with her back - and i have to step back

i was like wtf?
so anyways - with that - i started looking at the guy
and for some reason - i began thinking -
if there was a time when you can tell that a person is a jerk - it was at this moment
cuz the way the guy looked - the way he stood - and even the way he paid for his item
for some reason gave me the impression that he was a total jerk.
so i wonder has anyone else felt the same way - or am i just being influenced by the dirty look
either way - it's interesting to think about

Today was a good day at work
nothing major really happened

Also found out that there's a high probability that i'll be sent to Hong Kong and Shanghai come friday
My Boss wants to take me along as a translator - and also have someone that's kind of familiar with the area

though he said if he doesn't take me this time (since the notice is kind of short), i will definately be going on subsequent trips

but there was no one there
and the pool bar was really empty
so i ended up giving My cuz and janelle a tour of UCLA
then we headed to santa monica to play pool
yesterday - just kinda did some chores - ate lunch with my cuz.. and then they took off
around 9ish - went out to grab food - and watched "The Day After Tomorrow" with the peeps
it's a dvd movie if you guys ever have the thought in your head to go see it
today was a REALLY busy day

So far so good
Friday night - Brian and Janelle arrived around 1am
they pretty much just crashed the moment they got in
Saturday - we went to Lunch at Hurry Curry
then headed to SD
took us frigg'n 3 hours to get there
man traffic was horrible
so two volvo's slowly caravaning down to SD
then we dropped my car off at the hotel and went to chill at the beach and eat fish taco's
after the beach - went to Casa de Pico
this open air - mexican restaurant that has really good Margarita's
then i parted ways with my cousin round 11 and headed to Irvine to crash at Janice's place
Was really cool - a lotta people were there - Janice-Frank / Connie-John / Dean-? (don't remember her name)
so those are the people that live in that apt and their sig-other's - then me and mimi
so it was a pretty full house
This morning - we grabbed lunch - and then slept a little longer at janice's and i headed back to LA
So the plan for tonight is to meet my cousin in Westwood at the "W" (it's a hotel)
and just drink the night away

not a bad evening at all
today's been pretty boring

Today wasn't a very good day

i always thought that i could read people pretty well
always figured that i was a pretty good guy
until today - when you realize - as a manager - a lotta employees will NOT back you up - WILL not do anything to help you
man it's so jacked to see....in the end - they look after themselves... and kick you in the stomach when they can...
so it bruised my pride - hurt my self-esteem and well - all in all destroyed a lotta confidence i had in myself and a few of my people....

Took a four hour nap this afternoon - man that felt good
but now i'm all groggy and stuff

so i scratched up my glasses pretty bad last week
so i'm thinking of getting contacts...
but i guess we'll see - i might just change the prescription on my glasses
seeing that i haven't had an eye exam in over a year
but who knows...gotta make that appointment first
man it's been almost 10 years since i started wearing glasses
heh - i barely remember what i look like without them
glasses - braces - long hair - only wore black....now those were the good ol jr high days
man i was a dork
now that i look back at it
i was a pretty big dork those days
not much self-esteem
kinda kept to myself - though i had some good friends

i remember when i first went to Miller - i kinda had a culture shock
going from a predominantly white Elementary school to almost fully asian jr high
so i guess what i'm trying to say is that i do feel like i have changed through the years
i'd like to think i've become a better person
a better friend
but who knows - i could just be ignorant
feel like i'm more comfortable/confident with/about myself these days
about who i am - what i want to accomplish - and where i want to be
i feel like i'm going in the right direction
wasn't too sure before - and i did waver a lot
but now things seem to be falling into place
but i guess we'll see where this path leads me

today was interesting
a nitrogen pressure vessel ignited
so in lamens terms....there was a low amount of Nitrogen in a pressure vessel that drives a press...now this vessel is also connected to the back flow of a oil resevoir
and when the nitrogen ignited due to high pressure, it cause a back pressure in the oil resevoir
now seeing that the resevoir has outlets and seals
the seals gave way - and the thing starting spewing oil out like a faucet... in 10 mins 60 gallons of 46 Hydraulic Oil was on the floor
WEEEEEeeeeeee.....
to top it off - we only had 25 gallons in reserve.
so i told the guys to fill it up - see if it'll run - otherwise shut the thing down - and i'll take the consequences....YAY managerial decision.....
so that was interesting.
been a long week
lotsa work - lotsa drinking - lotsa stressed out days
but for some reason.... i feel like i can handle it.

so i'm looking into buying a euro plate - cuz my car has the holes for it.....

they have this new party shuffle feature - which essentially plays higher rated songs more often...instead of the old shuffle algorithm that got pretty predictable.

it's about how a 9th grade class that is randomly selected to be in a life and death Lord of the Flies knockoff
where they have three days to kill each other until there is only one left
if in three days - that can't be accomplished - they all die
needless to say it was a very bloodly and odd movie - that also kinda had a moral to it...
but i guess that's all i'm gonna say about it...

Section 1: Choosing a Job
WARRIOR
You'll hear players call warriors "tanks," and this is a fitting name—their main function in a party is to absorb all the abuse enemies throw their way. They also do a good bit of damage, but that's almost secondary.
Be a Warrior If: You want to feel like a badass who takes the worst the enemy has to offer, smiles, and proceeds to hack them to pieces.
MONK
Monks are basically the opposite of warriors—they can do a lot of damage, but they can't take as much. Well, they can technically take more—see, they get more HP than warriors—it's just that they can't wear very good armor, so they don't last as long. But they do pack a wallop—they fight with their fists, which means they can attack superfast.
Be a Monk If: You want to be the guy who does the most damage in a fight and can use special attacks most frequently.
THIEF
Thieves have a fairly unique role in parties. They attack pretty quickly and do decent damage, but the main reason a party is going to want to recruit a thief is because of their ability to get them the phat loot. Yup, thieves are actually able to steal items and money. Eventually (at level 15), they get a power called Treasure Hunter that makes enemies drop better items than they usually do.
Be a Thief If: You want to be the sneakiest, richest guy in the party.
WHITE MAGE
Also known as "heal monkeys," white mages are responsible for keeping the rest of your sorry butts alive. They get all the curative and protective spells, and eventually, they get spells that bring people back from the dead. At higher levels, they also get some pretty mean-ass holy magic, which deals impressive amounts of damage.
Be a White Mage If: You want to be the person who stands on the sidelines, keeping the rest of the party alive (i.e., the person that everyone loves).
BLACK MAGE
Sources of destructive, violent energy, black mages are the nukers of FFXI. Hands down, they have the most destructive potential of any job, but they're also fairly flimsy and break easily. This is a small price to pay for the ability to freeze enemies, poison them, set them on fire, encase them in stone, drown them in water, etc. Be careful, though—enemies don't like being subjected to any of the above things, so black mages are likely to attract some negative attention.
Be a Black Mage If: You want to inflict massive amounts of damage from the sidelines.
RED MAGE
Red mages are jacks-of-all trades. They can cast some white magic, some black magic, fight with decent weapons, and wear decent armor. They don't really excel in any one area, but they're well-rounded enough to be hold their own with or without a party. In parties, they can function as secondary healers, secondary nukers, or secondary melee fighters. They can also play solo quite well.
Be a Red Mage If: You want to be able to function alone as effectively as with a party.
The red mage is the easiest job to solo with, so if you hate people...

i wanna get it - but the $99.99 price tag - the 12.95 monthly fee... - and starting alone is kinda holding me back..

so i'll probably go to the store and check it out - see if they have some sort of demo going...but most likely the purchasing will be on hold...

well another day - another week gone by
today was a pretty decent day - wasn't too basy
kinda had a slow flow of work - and talked to the co-workers for a good amount of the day
the engineering guys are damn amusing
and it's cool to talk to Greg - an old hand teaching this noobie how the industry works
played basketball during lunch again
man it felt good - i hit almost any shot i took
even had some confidence to take it to the hole
though i need to work a lot on my handles

heh don't know why - guess cause it was a boring day at work - didn't really do much - the board of directors were around - so everyone was kinda tense and not much work was getting done

now i have all this nervous energy - and to top it off - i had a craving for boba - and well now it's probably worse cuz i went out - drove like a manica for a little bit (don't worry nothing that would get me a ticket - just 0-35 really quickly - engine screaming:-p

we were joking around this morning
At work i designed a schedular for the scheduling dept.
which utilizing the forecast figures out which parts - from sheet metal till finished good - they have to make - which machine/ how many can be made - etc..etc...
needless to say - this thing is one giant xls database - put into a pretty format that prints out to be 6 by 10 feet
CAD plotters are genious
so we were joking today about how i can improve it and if there's any errors and such like that - and they said - it'd be great if it could schedule itself
and that's what i spent the day doing - making a schedular that can schedule itself - i'm pretty close to getting it - f-ing hate excel - whish they would actually give me a programming language - i could so make this thing better - and FASTER

other than work - we played ball during lunch again - three games of two on two
was pretty good - won the first game 7-0 (i scored all the points) - second game lost 4-7 (didn't score a single point) - then third game - 5-1 (scored 3) so was fun
getting out during lunch - playing ball - feels good - get's me energized for the second half of the work day
what have i been thinking lately

just think that i should do somethign with my life - other than anime / work / eat / sleep /

dang - just found out the mazda3 shares a platform w/ the volvo s40... heh - checked it out and for 23k i could get a mazda3 that's comparable to my S40.
though i don't know how good mazda's are
ah well - i think i'll stick with my s40 for a bit longer - meaning - i have no money either way :-D
so let's see made mushroom/celery/chicken tonight
was pretty good - though i didn't take into account that the celery would cook out a lotta water - so it was slightly bland
ah well it's healthier for you with less salt

Well didn't have to put in that much over time these past couple of days - probalby about an hour total - so that's the good thing

been a really busy week - not to mention having four projects and five people telling/asking you what to do
it was kind of a challenge to keep everything in my head at once

so anyways - went through that pretty good... at least i didn't forget anything... YET
i wonder if i shoudl start writing shit down
cuz i figure i work on it everyday so I should be able to know what i'm doing - i wonder when i'll start using planners and calendars and junk like that

weather is so strange in LA

anyways - ran some errands today
went to the bank - Realized i'm doing alright on money

and now - just wondering about some stuff

don't quite remember - but i am the head of two departments now

remember how i said the Head of Maintenance resigned
well he was in charge of two areas - Maintenance - and Tool and Die
well one of the electrician's took over Maintenance - while i essentially took over tool and die
Cuz - Greg - the man that works for me now - used to be the head of tool and die - the man that replaced him Xavier - isn't really up to speed on things - so i'm the guy in charge... Xavier comes to me - then he delegates work to his people...heh - so i guess that makes me a head honcho - i think
but anyways
what i wanted to say was -
i came across a peculiar thing today
Greg - who is close to retirement stated how fast the day went by.
when i cheered for the fact that we were going home soon
he said that he doesn't want the days to go by so fast - cuz he's old....
and a couple of days ago - i found out that Flaco's brother died
he was pretty nonchalant about it
apparently he'd been sick for a really long time
but what got me - was that these people think about death
how it's getting close - how we're surrounded by it - i wonder how old you have to be - before that starts setting in.....
that's what's been kinda bugg'n me...today....anyways that's bout it... back to the Udon.
