lol, Happy National Day! ahahaz. Somehow or other, Im hoping that there will be this HUGE thunderstorm over Singapore today... lol, would be interesting to see what their wet-weather plans are... :) Or better still, start raining in the middle of the parade. Can you imagine our president's bodyguards taking out red and white umbrellas and sheltering him? hmmm....

I don't really like Singapore songs, I think they're too darned patriotic. You dun need a song that tells u to "STAND UP FOR SINGAPORE" before u feel patriotic. I mean, look at Australia, thier best loved song after their anthem is "Waltzing Matilda", and they feel SUPER patriotic while singing it. and there's not a single "Australia" in the entire song! While we are still here singing "COUNT ON ME SINGAPORE!" I think it probably has to do with the young nation thing... Right now, we're still getting "brainwashed" in a way. "WE ARE SINGAPORE, SINGAPOREANS"

Dim Sum Dollies
Morning! lol, just came back from watching Dim Sum Dollies, omg, it was soo funny!! suanning Durai, suanning NKF, suanning Singapore women, suanning Singapore men, suanning the Merlion, suanning the presidential elections... funkyy! and their sets are sooo well done (obviously I'm still feeling the after-effects of Dramafeste).. ah well. But their ending was COMPLETE NONSENSE. Think of the lousiest ending u can think of and read on....

Now, thier ending was... *gasp* a MEDLEY of NATIONAL DAY SONGS! OMG... and it ended with.. yup u guessed it, the NATIONAL ANTHEM!! like ><'' Imagine ending "Born Innocent" wit h the Institution Anthem or "Running into Paint" with House Anthem. It soooo does not work lor... ah well, the ending spoilt what would have been a nice show yup.

hahaz, almost a month, but i have a REASON this time! hahaz, wheee this whole entry is gonna be dedicated to dramafests, so if u dunno what it is, its an interhouse drama competition in RI, yup. :)

So... basically Morrison (My house. duh) had an insane director (Shawn), one heck of an insane cast (Kar liang, Alaric, Seng Henk to name a few), and a very much equally insane Stage manager (ME!) And you ALL absolutely ROCK man! hahaz. As chua puts it in his director message, "One month to dramafeste and still without a script, one week to dramafeste and still without a run, one day to dramafeste and lines were changed". STILL! we pulled it offf! hahaz, and to absolute perfection! WAHOO!

Ok, lets give a chronological account of what happened since i last blogged... week 1 - we had rehersals on tues/thurs/sat, each lastign for about 3 hours each, so everyone got home really late on tuesdays and thursdays. Anyway, during this week, chua finally gave me a concrete idea of the sets. and it was ambitious (to put it nicely) and flat out insane (to put it normally (: ). Basically the sets were 2 sets of backdrop curtains, one which could be moved back and forth to reveal the one behind. With a budget of 0 altogether, and a huge stage, plus my inexperience. It was madness lol. Anyway, during this week, the cast were doing basic blocking and line reading.

Week 2 - Week for the sets construction. We did the painting of the entire set this week. Thank you sooo much Ningrui, Tiong, Yao, Pok, Paniel, Benedict for helping with the painting!! :D hahaz, and we managed to finish painting! after completely destroyign the budget with the cost of paint. Oh, and while we were finishing up our painting, chua came running by and said "I need a pink tree", and we had about an hour to do it. Amazingly, we pulled it off! and it looked GOOD! wahoo. During this week, the cast was doing blocking and script reading and cheorographing of the really cool parts in our play :)

Week 3 - Tech and Dress rehersal. Ok, so this week was supposed to be when basically the play was confirmed and just rehersing. Note the supposed. It was quite chaotic, with shawn directing and doing lights and sound at the same time during Tech. Not to mention that we did a timed run and we totally exceeded the time limit (30 mins) by a good 12 mins! not gooood.. Plus, the sets took VERY long to set up (about 45 mins, we were given only 20mins), not to mention that the string we used SNAPPED during the dress rehersal. Soooo scarry. Anyway, we replaced the string and came up with a much better idea for the stringing, and we pray it would work.

Day before Dramafeste (Friday) - Rehersals as usual. We started cutting lines and re-rehersing, and it honestly didnt look too good. Anyway, we went to watch the plays on the first day (Buckley, Bayley, Hullett) and OMG, WANG TING IS IMBA. HE IS SOOOO L33T!! lol, we predicted that he would win best actor (were we right? read on! :) ). anyway, HE WAS SOOOO GOOD!! He got a standing ovation from about 1/3rd the LT. POWERFULLL

Dramafeste Day (D-Day?) final rehersals started at 1030am, with a few runs being done and very very soon it was time for the matinee show (With shawn referring to it as the "Final dress rehersal". Which is quite a fair statement, considering the lack of ticket sales for that show. Anyway, we TOTALLY screwed up the sets!! I was sooo pissed at myself... The grey cutrain (in front) was soooo dam low, and on top of that we exceeded the time of 20mins, so akesh and wai kit (the emcees) decided just to start it anyway. Needless to say, the set sucked huge. The rest of the play went quite well, except when Shawn and Karliang did a completely impromptu dialogue and pulled it off! no one really noticed that they were off the script *phew*. (Shane, hes not real, he's a painting. Gabe, He's real. No he's not Shane. Yes he his Gabe.) LOL. anyway, we devised a new way of setting up the sets and prayed that it would work for the night show. So, while the cast were going through some minor adjustments, the crew was more of less frantic about the sets, sigh. THE PLAY lol, by this time, I was beyond nervous, I kept calling for crew briefings and I think they got quite irritated at the amount of briefings they had (sorryyy). hahaz, anyway amazingly we did a PERFECT set up of the stage, so much so that the emcees were still talking for another 10 mins! WHEEEE! PWNZAGE crew! THANX GUYS! and soon the play was underway! AND THE PLAY WENT ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! NO CHINKS AT ALL! it was sooooo amazing!! and a complete joy to watch!! W00t! L33TNESS! The sets held up and the final cutting of the strings were done to perfection! I almost fell off my ladder in my estacsy :) hahaz, our cast and crew ROX man! And we got this HUGE standing ovation, about 3/4 of the LT! hahaz, it was SOOO amazing!!! =) haahaaaz.

Results - hahaz, from the onset it looked like Morrison and Buckley would be the top 2. And it was more or less accurate! with Buckley and Morrison alternating prizes. Morrison recieved Best Acting Esemble, the first time since 2001 and Buckley won best Script. Then came Best Young Actor with Karliang taking that (w00t!) and Best Actor went to Wang Ting (DUH?) and W00t! Shawn took best director!! YAHOO! SOOO happy for him man! he finally pulled it off!!! So quickly, it was time to announce the final results. Best Play. Would it be Morrison (Best Acting Esem, Best director, Best young actor) or Buckley (Best Script, Best Actor). Aaand... it was BUCKLEY! hahaz, well done guys! absolutely deserved it. Both houses did perfect runs and at the end of the day, it was down to the judges but WELL DONE BUCKLEY! =). hahaz, this is total vindication of our lousy showing last year, where Morrison and Buckley got 4th and 5th respectively. Indeed, predictions has it that the rankings are Buckley, Morrison, Bayley, Moor, Hullett. In other words, a complete reversal of the rankings last year! hahaz!

Plays of the houses (A brief synopsis

Bayley - Lenny the Robot - Artist killed, robot artist created. Is he a real artist? Who killed Lenny? "You cannot take what is not there!"

Buckley - <45 - Guy with a retarded brother. Mom died during childbirth. Retarded brother watched guy's good friend's mother die (car crash), but cannot give evidence. "The boy watched my mother die"

Hullett - Moo, this and that - Stand up comedy. Bunch of people takes over the stage (a stage-up!). Cannot decide what to do. Start's telling stories about Indians. "I'm Allergic to ROPE!"

Moor - A Dream upon waking - Guy with imaginary brother whose mom was murdered long ago (again.). A new roomate who is an ex-convict enters their lives. He thinks roomate killed mom. Threw him out and he got killed. (yup, car crash again). "I was a bad man... There was lots of blood, and a woman screaming"

Morrison - Running into Paint - Guy with brother. Parents died (again) as a result of... yup, car crash. lol. He paints a wonderland where everyone is escaping. Guy goes into wonderland, and other guy from wonderland goes into reality. Brother then destoys the wonderland painting and everyone is liberated. "If we hold on together..."

Notice how the parents always gets killed? Extra sympathy points and it gives a reason for everything, from revenge to sadness to insanity and schizophrenia. So convinient! and car crashes allow for a character to die without having to explain anything. No one's gonna ask "Why did he get knocked down". Its always an accident! lol

Belated blogging
hahaz, this entry is going to be about my australia trip since I promised to blog about it (and someone told me to blog).Ok, letsee, flew to aussie on the 10th of june, sat british airways cos they have some deal with qantas, flight was ok, nothing compared to SIA but its cheaper yea... anyway, landed in sydney, met aunt and uncle, went to aunt and uncles house and met my fav. cousin! yay =) so, unpacked a bit and packed stuff into a smaller bag and we drove 6 hours to ski! whee! In singapore, if you drive 6 hours, you'll end up in... Ipoh... difference in size man...

Anyway skiing was very very fun =) met this other family who migrated to australia from malaysia 2 years ago, another brother and sister pairing, hahaz the lil sister is quite cute and initially we fount the brother abit irritating, but he turned out to be very nice =). Anyway about skiing, I have issues with speed, dunno how to slow down properly, so i just go wheeeee down the ski slope, resulting in an average of 1 crash per trip down. I think i came up with some of the most spectacular wipeouts, I even got "tackled" by someone who feel down in front of me and I flew like 5-10 metres, funky :)

Ok, so thats the first 3 days down, then we went back to Sydney for the rest of the time there. First day went shopping, not much to report here except that going shopping with 2 girls isnt very fun for a guy >< second day, we.. uhh... nvm, I shall forget about dates and say what we did :) Went to Sydney Opera House to watch Sydney Symphony perform, and as this is the first time I've watched an orchestra perform, I finally realised how darned long one song could be... 45mins! I fell asleep yup.. good use of 70+ bux... Anyway, it was pretty boring, obviously.

What else, oh yar, I want to watch Lion King the musical at Capitol Theatre and OMG it was FANTASTIC, the show was VERY VERY VERY NICE, everyone should watch it if they have the chance too. Amazing sia, wow... great show, now that is how u spend 70+ bux properly =)

Anyway, the main highlight of the trip was my couz 21st bdae!! lol, so kewl! hahaz, I think her boyfriend is super nice :) he has a nice last name too, "Zuza", heh... He's croatian btw, so cool. Anyway, I made this short speech on how much I loved my cous (awww...) and people came up to me and said it was a nice speech, i was like wow! these ppl rock man... Hahaz, then Anthony's (my cousin's bf) Sister came up to me and started chatting about Singapore, and the best thing she said was that "Singlish is such a beautiful language", WOW... now that just really really rox0rs :)

And... as all good things come to an end, we had to leave 2 days later and come back to sweltering how singapore (we were sweating at night when we came back ><). But it was fun, really really fun :)

Hi!!
yay, im back to blog! i seem to have these spells when i will blog alot, then slack, then blog alot... So it all happily averages out doesn't it? =)

ok... aussie trip rawked, but its gonna take too long to talk about it, so whee, it rawked =). First week of school, doesnt rawk so much, a lot of homework... which obviously i haf procrastinated to this weekend so im happily really really busy now. yay.

Friday was mufti day (is that an English word?), so we all wore civies to school! (except for some people who still worse sch U). And on the day before, there was this "Pact" between 4 certain people in sec 4 GEP to wear.... RGS PINAFORE TO SCHOOL! whee! hahaz, and they were trying to get more people in, but of course no one was mad enough to do it. So in the end, it was the 4 of them, or so we thought. Turned out the next day that one of them backed out in the previous afternoon, and 1 backed out at 7:15am. So we are left with.. 2 people in RGS uniform! and they seriously wore it to assembly! Fashion statement!! hahaz. And they was a whole crowd of students laughing, and a whole bunch of teachers looking absolutely confused. like "We need to talk to this 2 boys, seriously, they have issues". In the end, they were forced to change by our FT, which was pretty lucky considering during assembly, our Deputy Discipline head came to our class and asked "Where are your 2 friends?". Amazing how these news travels so far in such a short time :)

Spark gathering!
yay! *points above* spark gathering was today! So sad christina couldn't make it :( but anyway it was still soooo fun heh. met them for lunch after a super sian SMP again... nvm, shall not elaborate on that. ate at pizza hut, quite a bit of drama, first martin lost his brother's sim card and was trying to find it, then the pizza hut waitress spilled our drinks accidently, owchz ><

Anyway after that we took this looong walk to Chevrons to bowl, and gerald tay happily put my name as "philipinomam" and martin's as "martyu"... ah well, so with names like those both of us proceeded to completely destroy gerald in bowling *grin*. And somehow he tycoed 3 strikes in 3 games... How do u know when someone is tycoing strikes? He bowls a strike then gets a zero for the next 4 bowls. funny :)

After that... we walked all the way back to jurong east and went to city hall for dinner... and Peiling couldn't join us (so sad)... we slacked at MPH where gerald was happily showing us a book that said something about Girls and sex (with other people), wonder why they put the (with other people) and then martin was showing gerald some... interesting scenes in John Grisham's "A Painted House", martin actually KNOWS the page number >< disturbed people...

After that, we went to Suntec and we happily explored the area around the fountain trying to look for the foodcourt (due to our funds or the sad lack of it, our budget was roughly 3 bux) and started discussing "Why women cant read maps and why men dun ask for directions"... anyway, we got to the foodcourt, and sat down and stoned for about 5 mins cos no one wanted to order... so we started this game of "cai1 quan1" and martin lost so he was the first to buy food! *claps* then somehow he managed to force us to buy food and so gerald, grace and I were sharing this korean food as we weren't hungry... hahaz

So after that we slacked for awhile and went home. yup. I could blog more about what happened here but im exhausted and i need to go for SMP AGAIN tmrw... bleh

Believe it or not, I'm walking on air
how 3 weeks fly past... i've not updated for sooo long?! doesnt feel like it >< hahaz, yea yea, i'm finally updating, whee!

Letsee, school ended, gpa 3.56! whee, almost 3.6! not baaaad. hahaz, phyx scraped 70 luckily after i inversely topped the class for the common test... Maths and Eng were moderated like mad and hist i got 79!!! so sad... and maths was 78 :( dbl credit! lol... anyway my overall average was 74.7, gpa doesnt reflect average marks! ahaz.

skipskip, today was the first day in the holiday that i spent more then 5 hours waking time at home, been going for SMP attachment for the second year running at NTU and i've finally realised that the researchers there are dam kokster, they're seriously DAM funny *points quote* and quite slack hahaz, but we get work done on time! and theres alot of expensive X-ray equipment there but no one watches over them lol and the lab is seriously quite dangerous (they have this "radiation alert" sign on the door) and thus i bet there's like x-ray particles bouncing off the walls in all directions.. heh

now for some random thoughts... My spousey has learnt to CYCLE! whee! and he almost drove my bike straight into a canal while avoiding a sandpit, whee! bus 36 goes to dhoby... playing semiquavers at 145beats is very fast, morse code is hard to learn.

hahaz, on that last point, im trying to learn morse code! yay! i'm up to... 8 letters... S,M,O,E,T,K,A,N in the order i learnt it in... hehz, "K" is funky... its "-.-", so fun :)

w00t! i am officially OVERYJOYED!!!! Morrison won swim carn for the SECOND year running!! The last time we did that was like in 1955 or something... not too long ago... 50 years, like chelsea heh. (even tho their complete crap) nvmm....

Anyway, i was playing hockey! and... obviously we won! heh... altho it was dam scary at times... scored 3 goals, ho sheng scored 4, weijie 3... heh.. rox0rs. Ho sheng is really scary when he's pissed off... watching khabil and ho sheng argue is rather scary hai... lol, but anyway... GOLD! whee, its like only my second house carn gold, so sad... couldn't play in sec 2 cos of 6-a-side and forgot y i couldnt play last year.. but still! w00t!

hmm... my spec's degree just went up, right eye by 50 degrees and slight astigmatism... and i just searched google for the correct spelling of the word and this interesting site popped up... "Astigmatism means that the cornea is oval like a football instead of spherical like a basketball." interesting...

SLACK!
w00t! CTs are OVER (fine, so there's still history but thats source based = no mugging needed) yay, so been slacking since bio ended! heh... soccer from 930-11 against sec 1s, badminton from 1115-1150, trying to get the stoopid video done from 1150-1220, couldnt get it, so played soccer from 1220-1250 den it started raining so went back to badminton and hall soccer from 1-3, den slacked at j8 3-345, den went to play pool at seletar country club from 345-630! (about half hour for travelling) and somehow or other my cross table banking was quite shen today! yay.

Ah well, today rawked! and now im damm tired >< yay

Snail in Banmian = Disturbing
right. So i was happily eating banmian with sam and guankoon after physics and I saw this weird shell thing floating on top of the banmian... andd... i shall not continue... its VERY disturbing... bleh. Come to tink of it, who knows what else could be in the soup man, bong doesnt eat banmian becos he found something more disturbing den a snail, cant remember what it was now. bleh, i dun tink i'll be eating banmian for some time now.

Maths = pwned. Chinese = pwned. English/SS = ok. Chem/Phyx = Should be ok. Bio = Getting pwned tmrw. Yay.
