yumyumyum

went to the store for a few things this afternoon (including a seitan parm sandwich which barely made it home), and got a handful of fresh produce. dessert tonight was an entire container of raspberries. mmmm. also got fresh tomatoes and basil, broccoli, and some tasty rolls. nice to have a fridge full of food i don't have to heat, enough for the next few days.

little trout

i got a new toy for my kitties some time ago, and just realized that it has a little poem on the side. it's a stuffed rainbow trout, filled with catnip.

FF

1. Do you have a car?

yup. Penny is my '93 Corolla.

2. Do you drive very often?

at least to and from work on the weekdays. i've also been known to take the occasional road trip, and once in a while, the road trip to nowhere just to relax.

3. What's your dream car?

1967 MGB. and i'll get it one day, too. ;)

4. Have you ever received a ticket?

only one so far, unless parking tickets count. i pulled over in a bus stop because it was the first convenient spot. he still gave me a ticket.

5. Have you ever been in an accident?

a few minor fender benders, and one big ol' one a few months ago when someone saw fit to jump a red light and t-bone the side of my car. ouch.

beyond infuriated.

my exhusband has finally sent me over the edge. he asked for an anullment. i chose not to contest it, despite the fact that he lied to me while asking me to help. now, i've gotten the preliminary decision. and guess what? he lied again! big fuckoff surprise. *growls* well, now i will contest it. and if that means he doesn't get the anullment in time? it's his own damn fault. did i mention neither of us are catholic?

hey, i keep good company.

You are 61% geek
You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other.

channelling my inner John Cusak

courtesy of musicwhore, Top 5 ice cream flavors.

  • butter crunch
  • Cherry Garcia
  • heath bar crunch
  • gingersnap
  • burnt caramel

i like ice cream to have a little texture, a little personality. mind you, i wouldn't turn down other flavors. but i guess i like my ice cream like i like my men - with a spoon in them.

brownie points or a brownie sundae to the person who can identify where i nicked that last bit. ;)

*gag*

as if there aren't enough risks and concerns in medical research to start with, along comes this. Houston, we definitely have a problem. did you learn your record keeping technique from Arthur Anderson?

pretty.

went out to dinner last night with someone who works here. i wanted to take one of the stained glass panels home. not any particular one, just any of them. gorgeous work. check out especially the restoration work.

oh, yeah.

listening to David Gray. 'you're gonna need more than money and silence to make it thru this world.' that, over straight ahead sincere guitar, makes me happy.

This or That.

well, fine. i've decided to start doing another bloggy question thing, courtesy of christine. i like her questions.

1. What's your personal clothing style...trendy or classic?

i guess i have to go with classic.

2. Do you shop for designer names or stick with the more generic brands?

most of my wardrobe comes from the Gap and Ann Taylor. to me, those are generic. i care more about a certain 'classic' look than names.

3. Work clothes: dressy or casual?

please. i work for a computer lab. what do you think? *g* long pants are considered formal there.

4. Days off style: dressy or casual?

casual all the way. i'll dress up for an event, for sure. but i pretty much live in anything i can pull on without having to tie, zipper or snap. yeah, i'm lazy. *g*

5. Women: high heels or flats? Men: Wing-tips or work boots?

i used to 'dress' for work, right down to the nasty nylons and heels. now it's clogs and slides. last time i wore heels, i realized i'd forgotten how to walk in them.

6. Do you have a large wardrobe, or just a few carefully selected pieces?

sort of both. i have the carefully selected outfits for when i need to dress up, and tons of t shirts and jeans for the rest of the time. i have far more clothes than i really need.

7. Do you shop for clothing at stores or from catalogs/internet?

mostly stores. i find the hazard to internet clothes shopping is that if you're not familiar with the store, you run the risk of discovering that they think a size 8 is the size of one of your thighs, rather than something sensible.

8. Are most of your clothes dry-clean only or machine-washable?

machine washable. then again, i do sort into whites, dark colors, light colors, line dry, wools.... i also invested in one of those home dry clean kits, so technically, it's all machine cleanable.

9. You buy an article of clothing and realize it is all wrong for you when you get home. Return or keep it?

return, of course. why waste space on something you can't use?

10. Hats: yes or no?

practical ones in the winter, yes. baseball hats, absolutely. everything else? no. i never plan on going to a Derby party.

right up there with impactful.

reading an article on plate tectonics, and they use the word 'crustal'. does that really exist? or did they just make it up? sounds kind of odd. try saying it out loud. crustal. hmph.
