it just dawned on me that i accidentally deleted my ring codes from here when i redid my layout. whoops. so... they're back now. down on the left side. :)

mm Spork Spork, mm Spork Spork!

hee hee... ah, ken. you always make me laugh. and since you don't archive, i'll take the (hopefully allowable) liberty of quoting you with links.

Revelation No. 2: Holy crap! My adopted home town of Clinton, MA is the birthplace of the Spork!

points to the reader who can tell me the reference in the title of this snippet. :)

73°

yes, you read that right. December 1, and it's 73° outside. mind you, we still haven't broken the local record set back in 1908, but. that's pretty balmy for December in the Northeast.

take two, later that same day: yes, indeed. we did break the 1908 record of 67°. whoo hoo!

Friday Five

forgive me - i spent most of yesterday asleep. so i'm a bit late with the FF, courtesy of smattering.

1. What did you have for dinner last night?

erm... some reheated gemelli with roasted garlic/parmesan sauce. and lots of orange juice.

2. Do you ever get up for a midnight snack?

sometimes. actually, my hours are kind of wacky. i'm usually still up at midnight. if the insomnia is bad, i might get up and make another meal for myself at 3 or 4 in the morning.

3. What's your favorite dessert?

anything with chocolate, really. i'm not fussy. i had a great chocolate mousse at one restaurant, which i went back to a few months later. trying to break my habit of always ordering the same thing, i got a different dessert. it wasn't as good. i ordered the mousse. yes - two desserts. did the same at a place in London last year. my best friend and i had just had a wonderful dinner, and loved dessert so much we got a second round to take home.

4. Tell us something about you that would surprise us.

hm... i have a good sized collection of children's books. and they're for me.

5. How do you plan to spend your weekend?

getting better, sleeping lots, drinking lots of orange juice, picking up my camera... that's pretty much it.

*sniffle*

i must be sick... i've been home all day, napping on the couch and listening to classical music. and liking it. it's normally not my bag, but today i find it rather soothing.

don't steal!

grrr! i was just checking over sites that link to me (some people ignore the copyright statement and don't bother with a note), and what do i find? someone linked to my text gear! My. Text. Gear. i put work into setting that up and customizing it. they should set up their own, not steal my work. very very uncool. it's a backhanded compliment, i suppose, but still very uncool. *growl*

new music

drew's been burning the occasional CD for me; he's the one that turned me on to Modest Mouse. the latest is Badly Drawn Boy, and it makes me happy. orchestral overtones, also art rock sort of thing, and waify boy voices with guitars. has me smiling and bopping my head while i work.

ewww.

i have a number of problems with human cloning, and in fact cloning in general. that's not to say it's wrong. but i can't say it's right either. there doesn't seem to be an easy opinion about it.

so imagine my creeped-outedness when i saw the comments in this article.

Clonaid is actively working to clone embryos that can grow into healthy babies, according to company scientific director Brigitte Boisselier. The company was founded by the Raelian religious group, which believes cloning will give them immortality.

um... ick?

not the sharpest knife

we're having a space crunch crisis at work; one of the volumes is nearly full. so i've been poking around and deleting what i can - including someone's public directory in which they 1) back up their home computer, 2) store Jerry Seinfeld sound files, and 3) keep a copy of their resumè. i felt no guilt about shitcanning all of it.

*fnork*

i was watching the retrospective on Carol Burnett tonite. god love my best friend - she has finally become the first person to confirm my idea that my mom looks like Carol. whoo hoo!

guilty pleasures

fine. fine! i admit it. i watch Ally McBeal. and i like it.

here's the thing: i think i like it so much because i think i should *be* Ally. isn't that sad? not the anorexic actor. the character. i identify with her.

of course, i would like to have a better love life. :)
