happy belated birthday...

i started thinking about the fact that the journal is nearly two years old, and mulling over what i might do for that, when i realized that this here blog is over a year old. whoops! so, a happy belated first birthday to dreaming in denmark!

keep it unreal

thanks so much to B for hunting down the tune from the Lincoln Navigator ad! it's Get a Move On from Mr. Scruff's 1999 album, Keep It Unreal. catchy little tune, soon to make its way onto a mix tape for the car.

go, me!

i'm slowly working my way thru the mountain of laundry, cleaning out closets, doing dishes, mopping and dusting, and generally getting organized. i'm also trying not to fret about not getting it all done at once. a few things every night, and it will all get under control.

oh, for fuck's sake.

i hate divas. it gets me fuming when people pull the whole 'my life is crashing to an end... but don't worry about me' act. if you need help, and you're my friend, talk to me. fainting on the couch doesn't earn any sympathy. /rant off.

Friday Five

whoo. haven't done one of these in ages.

1. Where are you right now?

sitting at my computer, sweating, listening to Controversial Videos on MTV (yeah, i know, listening to videos doesn't make much sense), drinking my 7 millionth glass of orange juice today, and praying for a break in the heat.

2. What have you lost recently?

erm, my grip? a lighter i just bought, and a friendship.

3. What was the first CD you ever purchased?

i have no idea. i can tell you what the last three i bought were: Air, Moonscape, H3llb3nt, Hardcore Vanilla, and The Audiants, All the Time in the World.

4. What is your favorite kind of writing pen?

right now, Sakura Gelly Roll pens in several colors. i go thru phases, every few years.

5. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

last ice cream i got was Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia and Coffee Heath Crunch, since you can get two scoops in a regular dish. i've also had a shake with malted vanilla ice cream and coffee syrup a few times this week - because it's so damn hot!

oh. mi. GOD!

it is just too freakin' hot. almost 100° today, and humid, and no breeze. Day Four of this charming weather. i've gone thru several gallons of orange juice today, and showered three times. it's so damn hot, that i can't tell if i'm still drying off from the shower, or sweating up a storm for the next one.

enough, already! rain, damn it!

um, is that my car?

there's this huge air intake/outtake thing in the garage in my office building. it squeals, sort of like a million mosquitoes being tortured. and the first few times i drove by it with my window down, i was convinced that my brakes were going. i still have to remind myself that it's just the air thing, not my car.

lights out

maybe it's a side effect of the heat. i don't really know. but i've been able to sleep with the lights out, by myself, for the first time in nearly two years. nice.

my work here is done.

had to go to a meeting this past week. my least favorite kind - about snarky little details. about halfway thru, i threw a monkey wrench in the middle of the discussion, under the guise of 'not to be picky, but...'. from there, it just got silly. ah. chaos, confusion and disorder. my work here is done. :)

happy Fourth, y'all!

for those who celebrate, happy Fourth! hope you're having a good day off, hanging out with friends and/or family, barbequeing your little hearts out (not literally) and have a good place to watch fireworks tonight.
