FF

1. What is your current occupation? Is this what you chose to be doing at this point in your life? Why or why not?

currently, i work for a mainframe software company, doing a combination of project management, testing, and packaging. if by 'is this what you chose' you mean 'did you end up at this point deliberately, after careful planning, rather than thru a combination of sheer luck and inertia', the answer is most definitely no.

2. If time/talent/money were no object, what would your dream occupation be?

see, i can't actually factor all of that out. talent has to be in there somewhere, because i get satisfaction out of doing things i'm good at. so... some variation on a curator or event planner.

3. What did/do your parents do for a living? Has this had any influence on your career choices?

mom has generally been a mom, and dad is in marketing. hasn't really influenced my career choices, except to say that i don't think i could be half the mom my mom is. and yes, i consider motherhood a career.

4. Have you ever had to choose between having a career and having a family?

see above.

5. In your opinion, what is the easiest job in the world? What is the hardest? Why?

whoofdy. in general, or just for me? um... no specific job for either category. but any job where i'm not supported by others, or my skills are in the shitter, are generally more challenging than i like. the reverse of that is also true. good coworkers make all the difference in the world.

this or that

1. CandyLand or Chutes and Ladders?

Chutes and Ladders. it was more fun to zip down the chutes.

2. Barbie or GI Joe?

Stretch Armstrong. i had a few Barbies, and Skipper too. but i never really liked girlie dolls.

3. Play-Doh or Silly Putty?

Silly Putty. it came in a plastic egg, right? i do miss the old PlayDoh, tho. it had a particular smell. and the new version doesn't smell like anything.

4. Lincoln Logs or Tinkertoys?

i liked both of them. i built a lot of things. and again, i like the older versions, made of wood. plastic logs? what's up with that?

5. The Game of Life or Monopoly?

Monopoly, hands down. i still play it every so often with my best friend.

6. Etch-a-Sketch or Lite-Brite?

hm. um... draw (no pun intended). i made a Lite Brite picture once and left it on in my room, sort of like a night light.

7. The Slinky: metal or plastic?

metal. duh. it's the only way.

8. Easy-Bake Oven or Sno-Cone Machine?

neither, really. how about Shrinky Dinks?

9. Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars?

Match Box. i had an umber one for ages. i think it ended up stuffed with raisins, somehow, at one point.

10. Spirograph or Paint-by-Numbers?

Spirograph. i thought the patterns were neat.

*fingers crossed*

i had an excellent blind date the other night.

how is it that i finally met a single guy, no baggage, all fingers and toes intact, blindingly handsome, speaks at least three languages, makes me laugh my ass off...

cynic that i am, i'm waiting for the other shoe. but. but. OMG, tron is such a great person!

tron is the perfect nic for him. i may or may not explain it later. depends on how the next date goes. mm hm. oh, yeah. there is a next date planned. whoo hoo!

404

i have to say that this is the friendliest error message i've ever gotten.

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at [insert ISP here]. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

how nice is that? i mean, it shouldn't have failed, but if it had to. nice.

thank you, whoever you are

not sure why or how, but i have had the single most excellent birthday week. i got to do/have everything i had in mind. hung out with friends, got to sail, visited with family, and had The Day off with my best friend. was given an AAA membership, got emails from friends far and near, got voice mails from *everyone* (apologies to those of you who called after the machine was full - i know you would have sung to me!). how much better does it get? don't answer. it's rhetorical. ;)

mango passion

i recently found the right container for the tapes in my car. yes, i am that uptight about things in my car. the tapes need to have a box. i can't just pitch them over the seat into the back.

i've been working on this for some time. thought i had it figured out, but not. and then i was on a retail therapy spree. i happened into a shop that had plastic storage boxes on sale.

so i got a medium sized box, just right for about two/three rows of tapes. i also went to get a wrap that day, and snagged a few stickers for blended juicy drinks. now, the box not only has the tapes, it also is labelled 'mango passion'. hee. ;)
