postscriptum

grey kitty is not doing well, at all. i've been feeding her by hand after giver her her meds. at least white kitty is feisty... he nips at me every time i try to give him his two meds.

did i mention my kitchen counter looks like a pharmacopium?

and the coup de grace tonight - i had to hunt down white kitty and pull the constipated stools out of his ass, because he couldn't finish.

sometimes, i hate my life.

bleargh.

i'm feeling raw, and crappy, and nasty. my life has gone, in a short frame of time, from kinda sorta shitty to truly crappy shitty.

i'm not sure when i'll be updating. i hope *fingers and toes crossed* it will be soon, because there's a lot of shit swimming around in my brain. and you're all kind enough to read. and it's cheaper than therapy. :)

but i can't promise anything.

the one thing i can say - i had the great good gift of catching up with HimSelf this weekend, showing him around a small corner of my town, and being spoiled silly. also, getting a two CD set (bootleg - eh!) of the Stones show that i worked from a friend who didn't even make it to the show.

so a lot of stuff sucks. but i'm still reminded that life is good, and that i'm blessed with good friends.

uncle!

fine. fine! i give. i can't design worth a shit, not this week. i have too many other things on my mind and schedule. so, back to the summer layout for now. at least that's readable.

under construction

right, i know, it doesn't match the journal or anything else. i'm messing around (live) with a new layout... because it's always good to work without a net.. this isn't the final version, so any comments are welcome.

happy, happy, joy, joy.

i feel like an episode of Trading Spaces. four meds, two cats and one cat servant! watch the hilarity as mayhem ensues!

sick little kitty.

the vet got the bloodwork (part of it, anyway) back today. stanzi's creatinine and phosphorous levels are up, which means her kidneys are having a tougher time. she has to go on two meds for now, and possibly a third when the thyroid results come back, and maybe a fourth if the vet decides she does have arthritis. fortunately, they're all oral meds for now. she is not going to like me very much, making her take meds twice a day. pretty much nixes any vacation plans i might have had, too, since i can't ask anyone else to do this.

Ice T. Rules.

i know, i know, i've mentioned this before... just heard the quote again - ' bought it, had it, owned it, wrecked it.' heh. :)

here's the thing...

thank you. thank you to everyone who got an email about grey kitty, and took the time to write back. i know i signed up for this when i chose to be a pet parent. doesn't make it any easier. ((hugs)) to all of you who wrote, to all of you reading who have pets or kids or friends... thanks. (gah! now i'm channeling Natalie Merchant!)

so far.

so far, grey kitty is getting better. according to the vet, she has rheumatoid arthritis, low potassium levels, and a thyroid problem. but hey! her kidneys aren't any worse. :/

random quotes.

shit running around in my head:

who cares about the starving millions? we're just happy that our checks don't bounce. - John Wesley Harding

well, that explains Midsummer's Night Dream.

i subscribe to a few newsletters from Zooba. here's the best thing i've read in ages:

Though cocaine had been used medicinally for generations, its use as a recreational drug was commonly believed to be a 20th century development. This all changed when Dr. Francis Thackeray, a South African scientist, chemically analyzed 24 pipes, including several from Shakespere's Stratford-Upon-Avon home.

The results were astonishing: Residue from cocaine, myristic acid, a hallucinogenic substance derived from plants including nutmeg, and marijuana were all found in the pipes, mixed in with tobacco. Needless to say, the idea that Shakespeare might have been high on cocaine has prompted a reexamination of his work, and speculative evidence has been found as well. Shakespeare refers to a "noted weed" and "compounds strange" in Sonnet 76, perhaps references to the contents of his pipe.

well, that would explain the faeries in MidSummer's Night Dream, wouldn't it? ;)

as much as i would like to think that we still have some summer left... i need to make a new layout. it needs to look more like fall. bleargh.

i adore watching Monk. it's a great show. and i love watching tony doing so well. i met him once, when he was playing at the theatre i was working at. nice, nice guy. he deserves the praise.
