Shaken.... Not Stirred... California Style...

It was almost to the minute 24 hours later - Parkfield rumbles yet again.

Aside from the mild nausea from the ultra-low frequency activity, this has been a rather palatable grouping of earthquakes. Of course, if you are closer to the epicenter, I guess that would be the subjective difference of how well you can tolerate the activity. Ah, relativity.

Change is good, though.

Whole lotta SHAKIN'...

Did you feel it? Looks like Parkfield (aka San Andres Fault) is moving today!!!!

Wow, flash backs of December 2003... Poor people in Paso Robles must be totally spooked at the thoughts of another big earthquake so close! Kinda scary too when it's the San Andres Fault line that starts moving... this and Mt St Helen's preparing to shake things up a bit too...

I think Earth is finally getting some much needed attention... too bad she has to shake us to get our attention.

News at 11 pm....

Where HAVE you been, you ask???

Catching up: Last week - BUSY... and how. Work was a nice challenge in itself. And then there was softball game on Tuesday (YES, I still play softball even after the hit!). And then helping a new friend move her belongings into storage units. Thursday was just numb... did I really live that day? Don't remember. And then scrimmage practice for softball on Friday... very fun. After practice was pizza at Woodstocks!! (note to self: BUSY place on Friday nights!). It was really great getting to know the group of people with whom I play softball. A great, GREAT way to end the work-week! Saturday I attended and had a great time at I Madonnari in San Luis Obispo. Here is one shot of the completed artwork that I worked on for this year. The company I work for sponsored the spot. I had people that I work with assisting me all day too. Again, a great way to get to know people outside of work.

This week - Recoup on sleep! Mostly it has been getting to bed early... and you know... that saying; "early to bed, early to rise..." kinda holds true... I have been waking earlier... bizarre. Tuesday night was a challenge... I kinda exploded at the ex-roommate. All of my buttons had finally been pushed and I SHORT-CIRCUITED! However, in that moment I was still able to take a moment at her request to LISTEN to her without saying anything while she spoke. C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-I-N-G!! The thing is... I have a hard time when people OUT-RIGHT lie to me. The reason I have such a hard time with that is because I do not see HOW people can do that... for me, it's like acid on my soul... I just don't understand why people think that a lie is easier than the truth. What on earth is so hard about HONESTY? It is so much more dignified and shows so much more integrity... and you don't walk away with ulcers!!!

whew... small vent...

Anyway... this week has been peaceful for the most part. And this evening is softball practice again... I look forward to the social gathering as well as the physical exercising opportunity.

Well, that's it for the "what's happening" part of my life. I've still kept up on my reading of "Whispering Winds of Change" by Stuart Wilde. Amazing. I really do enjoy his perspective on spirituality. And at some point I do feel that I will start writing posts that reflect my inner journey as much as these recent posts have reflected my outer journey. I looked back into my postings from the past and realized I've stopped writing about my spiritual journey... now... of all times... when I am so much more excited about my journey. I do feel a need to speak my personal truths to share with others... who knows, something I say may resonate with one of my readers and get them on a path... I can only hope that my life will affect, effect or influence someone in their own personal inner journey as well.

Off to work I go....

with love, light and all that is...
be well.

We Paid for WHAT???

I know you have to spend money to make money... but this is getting ridiculous!!! We shouldn't be spending money to make the same money look different.... I mean ... It's a NICKEL!

This is what we pay our government to do for us? "Oooh, look cute new money!" Hello.... you just paid tax money to have someone redesign the NICKEL. Can I get a "Doh!"

Use THE GLOVE...

Last week was a pretty good work week... lots of activity to keep me busy. Friday was great... started out with my normal Friday schedule. Beautiful day all around... and then comes softball practice. Starts out well.... basically playing catch; getting warmed up.... no big thang... and then batting practice starts (I am first up for batting... all cool). Then I step out with the others to do fielding. One of the guys steps up for bat and can hit some fast balls out to us.... a few pop-fly balls... some grounders... it's those GROUNDERS that you have to look out for on this practice field because the ground is pretty bumpy. Having said that... I had a fast grounder coming my way and thought I had it "in the glove"... totally prepared for it... thought certain it was going to be a quick catch and on with practice. NO SUCH LUCK... that bumpy ground I mentioned... it popped up the softball about four inches before it got to my glove and so reactively I brought my arm up to guard myself; TWO HITS... one to the elbow and a quick second tag to the cheekbone. OUCH... to say the least.... but I thought I could just brush it off and get back into the practice - no worries. UNTIL everyone kept asking if I was okay... and when I say "Yeah, I am okay... but it does hurt... but will be okay" - everyone was convinced that I *wasn't* okay because of the sound that the hits made. The coach made his way over to me to see if I was really okay... and to tell me to get some ice on it. The guy who hit the ball kept apologizing profusely.... which was kinda funny because... it's the risk of the game... kinda. I am just happy that the ball didn't hit a different spot on my elbow and crack something..... AND it didn't hit any higher up on my face and catch the eye or temple... that would have been worse!!! SO, last night I looked like I'd just been to a plastic surgeon for cheekbone implant and today I feel a little more sore all around... BUT... bruising isn't that bad just yet... not sure if it takes a while to develope. I am hoping this is as dark as it will get. I kept ice on it quite a while... even one the girls at Starbucks felt so concerned that she made me a ice-pack from one of the pastry gloves... small, but it got the job done... and it felt wonderful!

So, today is going to be a relax day.... try not to move too much... headache might be standard for the day. Drink some nice chamomile tea and cruise. If anyone has any advice for the pain, the bruise, or anything... I would GLADLY be open to hearing about it...

until later...

be well!

Saturday... What a Day...

Well, I got the archive for August Entries completed. Washed some dishes and cleaned up the counters of the kitchen area. I vacuumed the common area of the condo. I also colored a mandala, listened to an episode of Krishnamurti this morning, and have started a load of laundry. Wow... all that on a day off. Pretty impressive for me... procrastinatress that I am.... I have done quite a bit today. {happy dance time}

Later today my roommate and I will be going to see Hero at the theater. I've heard good things about it, so I am excited to see it for myself. AND, since it sooooo close to the theater... I just might talk him into going and getting some Coldstone icecream!

And on another fantabulous note... the company that I work for (see reference in my side bar column to the left)... they have sponsored my artistic interest in performing at the I Madonnari Street Painting Festival coming up on Sept 18th and 19th!!! Granted, it's only a 4x6 slot this year... but next year we will be more prepared and able to accomodate a larger format and more challenging visual art piece. But, I am extraordinarily happy and honored to represent Lindamood-Bell at this event. I have a couple ideas that I will be discussing with the person who handled the event last year to get some advice on how to proceed. Very excited about this!!!

Well.... I guess I should finish getting ready to go out... so much to do in one day... in such a long weekend too! I am very happy about that as well!

Have fun, be safe... be you!

be well...

~Amaya

Lunchtime Funnies...

This cracked me up when I saw it... this truck had a LOT of bumper stickers on it's tailgate, but this one stood out to me and got me to giggling for at least 15 minutes:

BUREAUCRACY:
the act of converting pure energy to solid waste.

Ah the humor of political views... POLITICS - Now that's entertainment!!!
