....................................................

*resurfaces briefly*

I'm so screwed. Murphy's Law! Robert's firewire drive is (probably) dead (or grieviously ill). Need to get portfolio book done. x_x Want to send it out tomorrow or day after!!

Then Robert sez, "Is your favourite Japanese singer in town or something?" And I find out that

HYDE IS IN HONG KONG!!!!! @_@

Damn you, hyde, for coming when I seriously can't do anything about it. GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH~~!!!!

Consolation: it's not like he's doing any show or there's any real "event"... just some promo stuff (interviews etc.). Rumour has it he's going on radio this afternoon at 4:30pm. We shall see....

Momo-chan is back home. *^o^* *nadenade* *also secretly thinks she must be adopted... crazy 4.0+ GPA nutcase...* @_@ Now relax while you're on break, okay? ^_^;

*nadenades a tetchan* ^_^; HD! Haven't thought about it in so long. You're PC primary referral?? *mwa ha ha ha ha ha~~* *nadenade* ^_^;;; It will be over soon... yes... And then Kicchan!! *whaps for not blogging in so long* :P

Uwaa. Somebody's been obsessing. ^_^; *nade*

*dances with the Bunny Queen~~* That was a really exciting match!! *^o^* We were on our way to the airport to pick Momo-chan up, so I couldn't catch it on TV, but I was on the phone with my World Cup correspondent Karen-chan who gave me the blow by blow. ^_^; First Asian team ever to make it into the semi-finals!! Woohoo~~!! *^o^* On the whole, this World Cup has been full of surprises... Most of the usual football super powers got eliminated early on, like Argentina, France, Italy... It'll be so cool if Korea plays (probably) Brazil in the finals! O ho ho ho ho ho ho~!!!!!! *runs off into the sunset*

....................................................

I hereby declare myself to be dead to the world. (Some of you already know this, but just to put it up in lights.)

Helped half my fam move in to their new apartment. Ran around all day to run errands as well (needed trash cans, phone, trip to supermarket, lamp shades, sheets, TV stand, extension cords, more household appliances...) And before that was hair-ripping action getting the renovations done, ordering curtains, looking for furniture to Mom's satisfaction, getting the gas company to deliver the stove and turn the tap on, make sure the lighting fixtures are bought and fitted and the electric lines are set, buying all household goods and electronics (washer/dryer, TV, VCR, rice cooker, microwave, an extra a/c...) and before that, transfering all the existing apartment's stuff over to Dad... and that is too excruciating to even think about any more. x_x

Got 2 photo assignments to turn in in a week and a half. I can't even think straight. x_x I'll just collapse and watch England vs. Brazil tomorrow afternoon. Hurrah. x_x

Oh, btw. I think you'd call that an existential crisis. ^_^; (And have you read Sophie's World? Maybe you should check it out. :P)

Quote of the day:

Evie-chan sez, "Michael Owen is a piece of candy in the eyes of pretty girls." ("Owen hai leng lui arn jung ge yat lup tong.")

03:44 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002

....................................................

Watched England vs Argentina last night. Along with the rest of Hong Kong, apparently. (The whole city tends to grind to a halt every 4 years for the World Cup. Any place with a screen and a live feed attracts crowds... if they ever put up a picture of Times Square in Causeway Bay, I'll show you guys.) What can I say, David Beckham and Michael Owen are really good. Miryokuteki. Fu. :P

Eeeeka-chan da!!! *^O^* Hello~~~!!! *^O^* Blogs are so much easier to update, no? ^_^;;;;;;;

And what up with the Glay fuzzies? ^_^; Gakkun is coming out with a new album this month, as is Utada Hikaru. And Neil-sama's new audio book is coming out. U fu fu fu fu~~ *still floating on Furuba fuwa fuwa*

....................................................

I am up to speed on FuruBa.

Like, I watched 20 episodes of anime (the rest is not out here), read 3 volumes of manga, then caught up with 13 volumes of Hana to Yume.

KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~~~!!!!!!! *^O^* *exploding hearts!* *goes back to her room were For Fruits Basket is playing on infinite repeat, and the air conditioning is on*

Evie sez, "If I get this ibanking job, I'll be like Wil Smith in MIB... like, I'll make this look *good*. I'll be like, in there with my Costume National suit, and make bankers look *good*."

You go, girl. ^_^;;;;;

....................................................

Got my Asuka and read it... At the end of X, there was an ad for an "X Premium" event ("Tickets come with Subaru telephone card!") to watch all of the TV anime at some theatre, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original (manga) series...

Goddamit. It *has* been that long. x_x Remember going "WtF????" at the first 4 volumes with Rabi and Hiei-chan. x_x And reading Jump for Dragonball Z, Slam Dunk and Yu Yu Hakusho. x_x Running off to Sino Centre with Karen-chan during lunch break to go to the manga rental shop. Gyaaawaaaah. *brain fizzle*

(... and on the page on X Playstation/Wonderswan games, the first press limited gift is a keitai strap with Kamui, Fuuma, *and* SUBARU attached... u fu fu fu... imibukai...)

Was fucking stressed out the past two days. If anyone ever has an ex-spouse they need to straighten anything out with, don't ask your kid to do it. Hire a lawyer.

Holy cow, there's a Shinsengumi Jenny-chan. @_@

And a Gothic Lolita Jenny-chan (Third link down on the left). @_@

Thank you Clamp, for pointing out the Jenny's Club site. ^_^; Haven't thought about Jenny-chan in years... And do read the Jenny Story, it's hilarious. ^_^;;; (Start with Vol. 1, the link's at the bottom... to read, click on the cover and it takes you to a page with about 8 smaller pictures of story pages. Click on each, starting from the top left, for a larger image.)

Okay, heels do *not* make you stick your butt out. This being the result of trying on 3-inch heels in front of the mirror and talking to the Expert of Da House (the Honorable Miss Yvonne Ko). If someone pushes their rear end out, any time, it's coz they have bad posture. :P

04:48 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002

....................................................

Oh, right:

In the mean time, parental unit moved out to service apartment has found new place. We had the renovators come take a look, and I guess we'll be getting a quote soon. Lease has been signed and we start mid June... which means target move in date is end of June, with the renovations (paint, bathroom tiles, and we want to put in an extra room where the dining room should be, etc.). We still have to furnish the place too. And apparently, I'm being the interface for home finances between Dad and everybody else. x_x (Sucks.) Evie-chan is still stressed about jobs, and I don't blame her. She's debating between one job offer here and packing up and moving back to the US and trying there. I'm telling her that if she hangs in tight, maybe we can move together. Too bad, girl, you've missed the deadline for the Miss Hong Kong Beauty Pageant. Momo-chan isn't home yet cos she's taking 2 summer classes so she's got more credits down before business school. (If you're reading this, Momo-chan, we think you're a freak. 4.0 GPA?? With a few A+s mixed in?? And aggressively looking for business internships during your freshman year? Either you're adopted or we are. :P) Karen's gone off to London to see the Queen. I expect shopping war stories. (She's got a dad and a grandma in tow, so let's just see what she can do.) I think my statement of intent sucks, but I want to send out my application for one of the schools tomorrow. And the scanner at home's lost its transformer, and the one at Karen's place doesn't work, so yesterday was a waste when it comes to emailing stuff to an admissions counselor at another school. Now I have a new HK$300 scanner (divide by 7.8, people in the States), cos a new transformer would cost as much, and we'll see. If it doesn't work, I'm breaking into Robert's studio to use his. x_x

I need another coke.

12:07 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2002

....................................................

tet-chan, cover letters do suck. As do statement of intents. But Momo-chan and I agree that that alone will not make or break an application (unless, of course, your essay/letter really *really* belongs in a landfill). I'm letting mine go once it's decent, but not perfect, but that's just me. -_-;

As for job type things, first of all, don't worry about it till you've actually gotten the offer. Saves you a lot of grief. (Sez the gal with a job-hunting sister in the house.) And what field is this job in, and what field is it that you want to get into? And does geographical location matter to you? *poke*

*brain fizzle* *grabs coke-chan*

Ponder this: what's important to you? Do you want your job to be something you live, or do you live outside your job? If it's the latter, then just find a job that you don't hate, pays well, that lets out at 5pm and party after. There's really nothing wrong with that. The former is more difficult, and it seems that we're a little brainwashed (? maybe wrong choice of word) to think that we're failing if we're not doing so, like we're not living our destiny or something. Like the whole "one day you'll find that Special Someone" deal. Where did that all come from?? x_x I don't believe that there's an absolute job/career/soul mate (hate that word, gah) for every given person, I believe that there are possibilities. If there's a possibility you want to explore, you should think about it. But should you decide not to, don't let it eat at your heart.

Okay, I stop now. ^_^;

Books or music? That's a tough one. Hrm. ^_^;;;;;

.......

(Takes a minute to glance at other window with the SatC page up, and falls over at "You've got to get online, honey. If only for the porn." ....... Holy crap! They have the "Carrie" shirt for sale at the online store?? That's excessive... @_@)

......

Come to think of it, what about TV shows? ^_^; Evie and I have been surviving on 4 seasons of Friends, 2 seasons of Sex and the City and 1 season of West Wing for a long time now.

X Files, West Wing, ER back on in a week! O HO HO HO HO HO HO~!!! *^O^* *runs off into the sunset*

....................................................

On heels:

I like heels. No, they're not as comfortable as sneakers, and I don't wear them when I'm trying to set up a photo set, but I like 'em. *hearts* I think they're all about attitude... like all clothes, actually. You're in a certain mood to wear certain things, and wearing certain things can put you in a certain mood (sporty, comfy, sexy, feminine, sunny, kakkoii, hyde-esque, Hisashi-cyber-chic, hana hana, femme fatale...). I mean, I don't feel sexy in my tetsu-Buffalo-platform-sneakers. There's just something about my patent leather red Miu Miu stilettos that screams sophisticated-I'm-out-for-blood-sexy. Like Kim Cattrall on Sex and the City. She doesn't have to wear heels when they're doing scenes that only show her from waist up, but she insists on wearing them --- because it makes her walk like Samantha (her character), feel like Samantha, and she's more into the part.

On a sheerly aesthetic level, I think the reason women wear heels to begin with, aside from that boost in height, is that it elongates your legs. I mean, wedged shoes give you that boost in height too, but doesn't give that illusion. ^_^; Next time you're on the street, check out people who are wearing heels and think about that.

Oh, and while you're at it, the next time you're heading out the door, think about what your pair of shoes is doing for your look as a whole. Take this as an example: white t-shirt and jeans. Pair it with sneakers and you're all sporty, but pair it with kitten heels and you're all feminine and cutsey. Ankle boots? Urban chic. Wedged platform heel sandals? Bohemian hanahana. Fu fu. (And I think your fairy-sprite-flowing-robes-barefoot-hanahana picture is very you. And *KA*waiiiiiiiiiii~ *hearts* *^o^*)

...... that was brought to you by your local fashion princess. (She's gonna stop now, hoping that she hasn't scared too many people. ^_^;;)

11:51 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002

....................................................

Oh, and Karen and I decided that most Hong Kong girls don't have what it takes to look good in bikinis.

Not enough meat.

10:02 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002

....................................................

Wow, look at everybody blogging away. (That is, except you. *kick*) Lots of snugz to Bunny-chan for adopting the oh-so-expressive-Miko-original *pajtt*. And always think of a Tarepanda when you say it. *hearts*

In other news, I got Evie-chan to the studio on Sunday, and got Kaawen-chan to the beach on Tuesday to take pictures. The ones with Evie-chan came out quite cool looking... maybe I'll put one up here if I ever get the film scanned. Haven't developed the ones with Karen though (public holiday here today). *dokidoki* The prep work for the 2 shoots was a complete bitch. The one with Evie wasn't so bad, cos I basically borrowed a room divider screen thing from Robert and then added two lamps and a couple of flashlights... the one with Karen involved 2 chairs (bought from IKEA and then constructed), blindfolds (cut from cloth), costuming (dress from Granville Road and a tiara), random plastic heart box thing (from IKEA), apples, a stethoscope (from Mom) for props, and then we had to go scout for a location... and since it was at the beach, had to bring other necessities (e.g. sunscreen, towels, drinkables) plus camera-chan and film etc. (Oh! This is a new camera-chan --- the Nikon F100, and f4-5.6 24-120mm zoom lens. *hearts*) @_@ And then Robert decided to come along to do some test shots (subject back lit by the sun and then filled with strobe), so he was hulling a light stand, umbrella, strobe flash unit, reflector, battery pack, plus his camera bag (135mm and medium format cameras plus misc. lenses). @_@!!!! Anyway, it was quite an operation. ^_^;

Serial Tuesday back on on 14th May! X Files! West Wing! ER!Woohoo! I might actually watch TV again! ^_^; Too bad we don't get HBO at home, or Sex and the City's gonna be back on too! ^_^;

And the broadband internet connection at home is finally up. *claps* Not like I'll spend more time online, but I guess it means that I'll spend less time waiting when I do. ^_^;

09:06 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002

....................................................

What the hell do you mean by a slightly pinched nerve?? @_@ I'm not sure if I should be shinpai or not, so I'll opt for being so, just in case.

......

In other news, I'm planning two photo shoots. Mine. For my portfolio.

Finding props is a bitch.

*pajtt*

....................................................

Okay, tet-chan:

which children's storybook character are you?
this quiz was made by colleen

Spent today (or I should say yesterday) hanging in Robert's studio... but still fell asleep on his one-seater sofa (which we'd bought for the previous shoot) at around 6pm. -_-; Apparently he had trouble waking me up when it was time to go home... I was that comatose. ^_^; Kaawen-chan was entertaining her ex-coworkers at home... she had to clean the Mess Called Her Apartment and didn't have time, so she said (and I agree) the fastest way was to dump everything into the bedrooms so the living room and dining room would be clear. But there are no locks on her doors. I hope that no errant guest opened the wrong door and got swallowed by some avalanche of dirty laundry, fashion mags, stiletto heels and digital equipment.

Yeah, those games are too damned cute... Waaah. @_@ And Episode 4 in text was excessive... How do you unearth things like these?? ^_^;

Maybe I'm just into rear ends. I cannot resist tapping that of Megan's Nekobus repeatedly whenever I'm in her car. That, or bestiality...?

To the Deathly Hot Bunny-chan (hrm, that can be taken both ways...): at least you're not getting lady bugs in your room. x_x I got those in McAfee in spring... wanted to scream. Gah.

In other news, both Neil-sama (for American Gods) and Lois-sama (for The Curse of Chalion) are up for the Hugo! *^o^* *hearts!*

04:21 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2002

....................................................

Um, Bunny-chan? Are you okay? @_@ *hugz* Though I do agree... establishing, maintaining, balancing human contact/relationships are about the hardest things there are on the face of this planet. But don't kill yourself over it!!!! Gyaaaaaaaah!!! @_@

Hi people. I'm home! And jetlagged! x_x 4:53am, and I'm still here. Thanks goes to many people for a love-er-ly visit to Boston, which include:

Crash space, courtesy of the very nice ladies at Arcadia, and Miss Katherine Kwok, who actually cleaned enough of the couch in her living-room-turned-whirlwind-sewing-room for me to sleep on.

All the people who put in the effort to make plans, to hang out with and put up with me, esp. K-chan who flew in, Tim and Eeeeka who helped organise dinner, and Anne who dragged me out to Brandeis to see truss.

Karaoke fun, courtesy of Mei-chan who researched, lots of people happy to sing, and K-chan for Sugar in the Marmalade.

truss, for insane anime music videos.

High speed internet connection while you wait for your laundry to be done, courtesy of Mr. Pijus Virketis and Kirkland.

Ms. Natalie Portman strolling into the Arrow Street Crepe shop with we-just-showered-hair and *really* tight shimmery purple pants. (so we couldn't take our eyes off of her butt)

The Acela Express, which was fast, comfortable and on time, but way too cold after an hour or so.

Speaking of which, no thanks to the weather, esp. that random 80 degree day in NYC.

Naked-model-in-only-a-towel-watching-tv fun, courtesy of Ms. Christine Tse and her-roommate-Jonathan.

Multiple visits to Bertucci's, courtesy of very tolerant people who didn't mind going (again).

finale, for having the best creme brulee ever.

New world view of world being one's tabemono, courtesy of Miss tet-kuccha dame!-Hwang.

Nice lady at Tealuxe, who gave me a free iced tea (Lady Hannah!) with my purchase of a tea pot and two cans of tea leaves.

To Bunny-chan, tet-chan and Kicchan for not laughing at me when I got frozen honey all over my straw and blobby honey chunks on bottom while stirring honey into aforementioned iced tea. (tasted insanely good, actually)

Shopping advice and probably way too much encouragement from Mr. Kurt Wu and Ms. Katherine Kwok.

Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Saks Fifth, Louis Boston, Bloomies and Anthropologie for screwing with my bank account.
