LOL! i'm listening to chinese radio, the movie review show, and these 3 guys are hilarious! ^O^;;; you *know* they're fun when the call Mike Meyers "Canada's National Treasure." it's also quite hilarious as they try to explain the term "trailer trash" in chinese. ^O^ (they're reviewing "View from the Top," Gwyneth Paltrow's new flick)

omg.
Saturday, March 22, 2003 02:16 a.m.
"harvey birdman: attorney at law" is possibly THE most cracked cartoon on the planet!!! ^O^;;;;;
omg.
one ep. had a japanese pop group with copyright issues, one ep. has a johnny quest custody battle (where it is suggested that Dr. Quest and Race Bannon are gay lovers... ^O^;;; "he's my travelling companion... we travel through hot steamy jungles together"). ^O^
his executive assistant is an eagle. their judges are other 'super hero' parodies...
too funny!
"get ready to feel the power... of attorney!"
**does anyone else remember johnny quest?

dumbass unions
Thursday, March 13, 2003 12:48 p.m.
(watch the "great union leaders of BC" come and kidnap me in my sleep for that subject line *points up*)
for those to whom i have not complained, UBC's Teacher Assistant's union has gone on strike. for the past 2 weeks they've been picketing. however, they have weird and bizarre strategy called "flying pickets." this means a) they'll picket one random building per day, and b) they can change locations at will.
well, first off, i was irritated because, dammit the one day they picket the law building, the professors of the classes i had that day are ones who've decided to cross the line. second, this uncertainty is irritating people, not in a good way for their cause. some of my profs originally said they'd never cross a picket line, but after a week of this weird picketing, they gave up and said that they'd cross because the union is being stupid. they're complicating something which is really quite simple, and they're making life difficult for people who want to support them. third, NO ONE CARES. they've really affected no one. if you ask any of the students, they're like: "oh well, so we get our exams marked later. whatever."
so anyways, yesterday, UBC finally got the provincial government to legislate the TAs back to work.
this morning they decide to stage a huge-ass PROTEST over the government intervention. they blocked all the gates, either with people or with cars. buses refused to come onto university land (which actually is much much bigger than the campus itself, so buses stopped at a 30 minute walking distance from the main gate). they only left 1 gate open (gate 9 off 16th ave.) and the driveway to the hospital (which is on campus). i had to engage in some really creative and... *cough*illegal*cough* driving to get to school today. ^O^;;; i dunno why it was so important to me... i should have just given up and gone home, but ... i dunno... i figured since i was already there... >_>;;
so what did i do? (i'm bragging cuz i'm proud of myself. ^O^) well, i couldn't use gate 9 because my parkade is only accessible by gate 2. (there's only one road in to my parkade). thus, from Southwest Marine Drive, i turned onto 16th ave. i discovered that the intersection with Wesbrook Mall (gate 10) was completely blocked and the protesters were directing traffic back to gate 9. so i go past Wesbrook, and, because i used to live at Hampton Place (at the corner of 16th and Wesbrook), i know that there's a u-turn place up ahead. i make a u-turn, then turn into Hampton Place off 16th. Go through Hampton Place and turn onto Wesbrook, successfully by-passing the protesters. ^_^v there were 3 cars following me (two of them zoomed up to give me a thumb's up and a wave. ^O^v). next, they had blocked gate 10 as well. here's where the illegal driving came in. ^_^;;; the protesters were only blocking the side of the road where you turn in. so (because the car in front of me did this), i did a u-turn, and then turned into the lane where people are supposed to come out of gate 10. ^_^v and then into the parkade i went!
i was only 15 minutes late for class too. ^_^v
here's a *.pdf map if you want to see what i'm talking about. start at the very very bottom of the map.

things that make you go
Sunday, March 9, 2003 01:57 a.m.
(is actually a C&C Music Factory song... anyone remember that? ^O^;;;;)
what an interesting day i had today...
first i went shopping with my friend, eva. i was bad bad girl. much hemorrhaging of money. i bought a sergeant pepper jean jacket from Tristan!! it's soooo cute! and a red blouse. also bought lotr extended box set version and soundtrack for TTT. (do not know why have put this off for so long... law school sucking fangirliness out of me. le sigh.) oh, also in the badness, i tried on a britney spears "hit me baby one more time" and t.a.tu. "all the things he said" school girl outfit: grey pinstripe mini skirt with pleats, white blouse which i had to leave half un-buttoned as am busty, and a matching grey pinstripe tie. was the quite the picture of debauchery. wanted to take picture, post on internet and charge people money. ^O^;;; may have to buy outfit for kicks. will see. eva said she'd be my pimp.
then went to superstore as eva likes grocery shopping. cannot say anything exciting happened there, but i did find tofu pills in the vitamins aisle. quite odd. why not just eat tofu?
next went to White Spot for dinner. very nostalgic as is restaurant for families and senior citizens. ^O^ i had hamburger. i wub hamburgers. is bad addiction.
was told that i am only person in group of friends who puts actions and emotions literally into e-mails. things like: *patpat* and *dansies with joy* do not think that is weird... but do think that this "bridget jones" style writing is odd as do not know when picked up. 9_9
then we went to yaletown to eva's friend's brother's apartment to watch a movie. it was quite the adventure getting down there! (for those who don't know, yaletown is a... yuppy neighbourhood on the fringes of downtown but still on the "island" (vancouver downtown is a peninsula... but pretty darn close to an island)... is where all the youngish, rich and beautiful go for martinis and what have you). first of all, the roads down there are not straight. and they're no clear intersections either! we ended up going in circles for like 20 minutes! i accidentally went over the bridge and back into vancouver proper like twice! ^O^;;;;
so finally, with the help of eva's friend, we find parking and get up to the apartment. is very nice. very ... catalogue like. anyways, we watched Return to Paradise. it was an...okay movie. it was really great up until anne heche and vince vaughn spontaneously had sex. that was quite the unreasonable and unfathomable plot twist there. then vince vaughn's motivations stopped being so noble for me and i just got irritated. so did the other girls watching the movie. the two guys, however, didn't see anything wrong with it. 9_9
following up on this bit of depressing movie-ness, we decided to eat choco fondue, which was nummy. apparently all pineapples are now $2 at independent grocers so may have to go buy one tomorrow. ^_^v
then we start watching Galaxy Quest (the star trek spoof with tim allen). it was actually *really* funny.
however, in the middle of it, one of the boys points out that he thinks someone a block over has committed suicide by jumping off a building. at first we think this is funny as the building only has 4 stories. but then we all crowd over to look and lo and behold, there's a body covered up with a sheet and all these flashy lights. we were like O_o uh... but ^^;;; at the same time. we were so funny, one eye on the movie, one eye staring out the window. it really takes a surprisingly long time to clear up a dead body... (i really shouldn't have said that...) of course then came the obligatory discussion of whether or not it's wise to choose a *4* story building to jump off of as is rather short fall... should really rather pick something more than 10 stories, non? just to be sure, i should think...
and so that was my day. now i'm home blogging before bed (should be title of autobiography, maybe? ^O^)
toodles~
