Patent-Land Tuesday, November 6, 2001 03:53 p.m. On a bright and sunshine-y morning in patent land, Mrs Yoplait decided to walk her precious pets in a new neighbourhood. It was a lovely day, and Mrs Yoplait yodelled happily to herself as she walked. Along the way she saw many other people walking their special pets too. One of these people stopped to introduce herself. "Hello! I've never seen you in this park before!" chirped the new lady. "Oh," replied Mrs Yoplait. "I usually go to Dairy Park, but today I thought I'd take my babies to a new place to play." "I see. Well, my name's Mrs Fosters. I come to this park all the time." Mrs Yoplait nodded. Mrs Fosters leaned over to look at Mrs Yoplait's little darlings. "Oh my! They're so precious!!!" Mrs Yoplait beamed. "Thank you, but not half so adorable as yours!" "Don't tell me you're *the* Mrs Yoplait? The one who owns the yoghurt bacteria?" Mrs Fosters asked, eyes wide. "Then... then these must be them!!!" she squealed as Mrs Yoplait nodded her affirmative. "Oh my goodness I can't believe your bacteria and my yeast are going to be playing at the same playground!!!" Now it was Mrs Yoplait's turn to have her curiousity piqued. "Don't tell me you're *the* Mrs Fosters? Of Foster's beer???" And the two women fawned on each other. Suddenly, Mrs Fosters leaned over to whisper conspiratorily into Mrs Yoplait's ear. "Oh, Mrs Yoplait, don't look now, but there's that Mr Ben..." Mrs Fosters tsked. "Don't you mean *Uncle* Ben?" "No, Uncle Ben is... well, his uncle. Mr Ben is the one that had that unstable strain of rice..." Mrs Fosters waggled her eyebrows. "You remember, it was all over the news last year... The first crop was nicely uniform, all in their tartan and blazers, but the second crop was *unstable*...." Mrs Yoplait's eyes lit up as the proverbial light went on. "Oh! He's the man with the exploding rice crop! Honestly, people who can't properly engineer genes shouldn't be applying for patents."
