Katherine, aka MidoriChi, is a 17-year-old Chinese Filipina who lives in California. She is currently a senior and her hobbies include web design, drawing, reading, dancing, listening to music, playing videogames and piano, writing fiction, and talking on the phone. Her main music genres are Rock and J-Rock/Pop but she likes almost anything with a beat.

A little, uh, ballad? (sung to the beginning of the Spongebob Squarepants theme):
Who's staying at home, away from school?
Mi-do-ri-chi
Who's suffering from a fever of one hundred and two?
Mi-do-ri-chi
Yeah...I thought that one up while coming back from the doctor's office. Not doing too well, but will be better soon after the antibiotics finally kick in. Apparently, I may have bronchitis. T.T
I'm going back to sleep now...

Friday, March 24, 2006On Wednesday, a handful of us piled into Mr. See's car after school to attend a Film Festival. He paid for everything. It was crazy. We had sushi, too. OMG! I've been craving sushi for months. The miso soup was really good too. ♥
American Fusion was HILARIOUS!! Less of a romantic comedy, and more of a comedy on racial/Asian stereotypes, Sylvia Chang's character was stuck between falling for this Mexican guy (who was the equivalent of a Latino George Clooney) and keeping her family together during the rough times her mother's back surgery. She's stuck between doing what she wants and pleasing her mother. Her brother in the movie, Tony, was hilarious. He's trying to get his wife pregnant, because his mother wants grandchildren so they try all of these different things. "I don't think bats have sex upside down, Tony..." XDD Pat Morita and James Hong were also featured, and Pat Morita sports the best toupee that I've ever seen. XD If the film ever gets release in actual theaters, you have to see it. ♥ ♥
The romantic part of the film was cheesy, but the humor was unbelievable. And the producer and the actor who played Tony (Collin Chou) introduced the movie at our screening. We even took a picture with him. He's so cute...^.^
What else happened this week? Hmm...hmm...oh...:
I GOT ACCEPTED INTO CARNEGIE MELLON!! =)
Now...I remember, the rest. A couple weeks ago, I finished reading the manga series Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa. I loved it. ♥ The main character who gets nicknamed Caroline gets a little on my nerves, but the ending was sweet. And the series is nice and short. I really like the art too. It's very different, but her/his(?) >.< style is memorable. The clothes are amazing though!! Much love. Plus I adore Arashi and George. XD
And at the moment, I've started reading Nana also by Ai Yazawa. I don't think it's as solid and great as ParaKiss, but I like the parallels. I started the series without knowing what the heck it was about, too. Although, in my opinion, you have to have a strong stomach for the first prologue in the first volume, because one of the main characters, Nana, almost made me stop reading. She's soooo annoying. The story seemed strange and jumpy, with no sense of time, also very unrealistic. But after reading further, she's grown a little on me. (I'm on volume 3 now XD) I like the other part of the story though with Ren and the band drama. I sympathize with her more than the childlike chipper Nana who makes me want to strangle her seems really spoiled.

Friday, March 24, 2006This has been the longest week in the world!!! T.T It feels like it. I'm so happy that it's finally Friday. I can huddle up in my room and just relax. This week, especially, I've been a little high strung/tense from dance practice for the performance (which was yesterday) and getting all my homework done to get my parents off my back for a while. ARGH!!
But yeah, this week has been filled with many interesting happenings. Many breakdowns, arguments, feel-good quizzes =), surprise notes during 5th period XD, and long nights away from home. A very memorable week, I'd say.
First off, on Monday, Stephy gave me the coolest/cutest bookmark in the world. ♥ Bookmark love!! ::hugs:: Stephy, you are seriously loved. My memory just extremely sucks. I'm serious...it's terrible. Please don't feel sad. I love you. ::hugs again:: Anyways...
Received extremely depressing news from UCSD, since it was my first choice. But then USF was kindly enough to accept me. =) Still a little disappointed, but whatever. I'm VERY happy for everyone else though. ^^ CONGRATS!!
The showcase: As always, we suck at the dance until the very last minute and wow everyone with our wonderful talents. ^_^ The reactions are awesome. We just have magical powers that stem from our stress. (If only...) I can't say a lot about the showcase though because it went by so quickly. T.T One of the girls in the Chinese Ribbon Dance couldn't get out of her Chinese dress after the fashion show because the zipper got stuck. KP was freaking out, and I wanted to help but almost stuck myself with a safety pin. We asked Shana and Alex to just stall. I wonder what they did. XD We finally just ripped her dress and threw her clothes on. It was very traumatizing because we're like, we need you Natasha!!!
Jackie is awesome on the cello. ^^ She mesmerizes me with her classical talents. XD And Gar Yun played the Chinese "zither?". It's the coolest fobby instrument in the world. Haha. There was this one guy who played the violin and later came on to do martial arts, and I suggested that he should play the violin while doing his martial arts. XDD That would be talent...
All the seniors got pretty flowers too. It's sitting on my counter...^^ Poor KP though. She got a lot of injuries just from performing her Chinese Opera dance with her sister. But Antonette has the coolest socks (green with black stripes, which she wore in the American Dance). Very wicked witch of the west. =)
I'm sad though. The showcase is over. No more dancing for hours after school. No more playing with bright pink ribbons in the hallway. And driving to anayufan's house was fun, even though driving scares me. ^^;;
Stephy took really awesome pictures on my camera. I shall post soon.
Oh, and the Filipino dance where the guys hold coconut husks in their hands and have pieces tied on their shoulders, knees, and sides and hit them in different patterns is so cute. I love watching the guys do it. ^^
HAVE FUN IN DISNEYLAND, BAND PEOPLE!!

Saturday, March 18, 2006[edit] Check 'em out~! ♥ =) [/edit]
From Friday to Monday (March 10th-March 13th), I was in snowy/chilly Ashland to solely watch plays with the Shakespeare Club. OMG! It was so much fun. ^_^
--FRIDAY-- We met on the front porch of our school before 8:00am to check in and throw our luggage on the charter bus. Then we departed for Ashland. We stopped in Williams for lunch at this wonderful little deli with yummy sandwiches. But since it was Friday and during Lent, most of us were forced to not eat meat. (I celebrate it loosely though =P) They had a really good Vegetarian Special with artichokes and peppers though...so I was happy. ^^ I was tempted to order a Mint Chocolate Chip milkshake, but I decided to save my money. Then we started watching a movie called Il [something] XD It's in Italian, but in English, it's called The Postman. A pretty good movie, but then it got quite depressing in the end. ::tear:: T.T It was about this guy named Mario who lived in Italy and got a job as a mail carrier. (Wait...it gets better. XD) Pablo Neruda (who had a warrant for his arrest in Chile for being a communist) went to live in his summer home in Italy. Mario thought of him as the "Poet of Love", which I thought was really cute. Neruda taught him what metaphors were as he delivered his mail everyday and helped him woe this one girl that Mario fell in love with. However, the girl's mom wanted to kill Mario. Haha. But then the girl and Mario finally got married and Pablo moved back to Chile. Should I spoil the ending? Okay...I will...[SPOILERS] In the years that Neruda was gone, Mario made a cute little recording of what he loved in Italy and became a poet. But when he was going to recite his poem at a communist rally, he died when the police showed up. Pablo finally returned to Italy and blah blah blah...the end. [/SPOILERS]. =) We stopped at a rest stop on/near Mt. Shasta. And...It was snowing!!! I’d never seen snow fall in real life...so I was quite excited. Alice even took a picture of Cynthia and me. As we were going to Ashland, it was snowing non-stop, but we finally arrived around 4:30 pm at the Stratford Inn. Which is the cutest little inn ever. They even have real books on the shelves that people actually read. XD And games such as Clue, Sorry!, and Scrabble to play. ^^ Alice, Cynthia, and I ran around the town for a little bit before meeting back at the bus to eat pizza around 6pm and then to see the play around 8pm.
We saw The Diary of Anne Frank. Very good. Depressing. But still very good. Between scenes when portraying the Jews being shipped by railroad to concentration camps or Hitler saying his speeches, they would display holograms of the actual images on the angled ceilings of the set. I thought that was really cool and creative. The set was huge, too. There were so many rooms with intricate stairs and doors leading to them. The actor who played Peter Van Daan was cute. ♥ His real name was John Tufts, I believe. I'll mention more about him later. During the intermission, we ran to the bathroom and were first. Yay! And while leaving, this one girl told me that she liked my bag. (I was wearing my NERV bag [from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion] that I bought at FANIME.) That made me happy. But while walking back to the hotel, it was so cold that the streets were covered in ice, and people kept slipping. So scary. >.< But we survived. I read some Light in August and went to sleep around 12/12:30am.
--SATURDAY-- I first woke up at 5:56am. O.O Checked the clock, mumbled a little and went back to sleep, only to wake up around 8. XD Alice got up too so I was like...okay...guess I'll get up. I just wait for Alice to get out of bed. I don't like being first. >.< Anyways...We were originally planning to wake up around 9:30, but obviously that plan failed. So after eating breakfast and stuff, we watched the last few parts of Much Ado About Nothing (I think that was the movie). There's too much Shakespeare in life. ::sigh:: Then we headed out to check if the stores were open yet. Cynthia fell in love with a store called 'CD or not CD' because of their band t-shirts and their lovely old rock collection. I'll never completely understand her fascination for that genre. But then again I'm a little weird myself. Since we spent quite a long time in the CD store, we let Alice peruse in these herb and smelly stores that make me sneeze. ^^; Still hadn't bought anything. Then we ate at Pangeas which has these really delicious wraps. Mmmm...and rosewater lemonade. So good.
The first play of the day was The Importance of Being Earnest, which was beyond awesome. And hilarious too. XD Although, it's a shame that several people fell asleep (not because of the play, but because of staying up too late) because it was a really good play. ^_^ The actor for Jack Worthing completely reminded me of Andrew who played Jack Worthing at our school. So freaky. Must be similar accents and style of movements. But it was so cute. The physical comedy and the way they would say...EARNest~! XDDD The play was so awesome that (even though I've only seen it performed twice) I bought a book all about Oscar Wilde containing all of his plays. ♥
It's been so long that I have forgotten what else we did on Saturday. Crap. T.T I know we bought fudge. And then we ate at the Green Leaf Restaurant and made a poor food choice. The Roasted Garlic Spinach Salad gave everyone upset stomachs. It was terrible. And the salad was HUGE!! O.O I was about to cry because I felt so sick and yet didn't want to waste the food. Definitely not eating there again. It was terrible. Because after that, we had to attend a prologue discussion for the new play Up. It was cute. Wil, while wearing his camo and sunglasses, did a wonderful Marlon Brando imitation while reading a couple lines from the next play. The play itself: AWESOME! If it's performing in the future in a theater near you, I bid you to go and see it. A little profane at moments, but completely "spell-binding". Even with my upset stomach, I loved it. ^_^; John Tufts (the actor who played Peter in Anne Frank) was the son, Mikey, in Up. He was really cute. Playing the shy guy looking for the one thing in life that he can really do well. Anyways...so after the play, Alice, Cynthia, and I plopped ourselves on the bus (luckily we didn't have to walk) back to the hotel and just fell on our beds, moaning. It was terrible. But afterwards (and after accepting some Malox from Alice), we watched Dodgeball on the TV, and I witnessed Brady (a junior, guy) walk down the hall in nothing but a blue flowery dress, red lipstick, and heels. XD I wish I had taken a picture. T.T That made my night. Shortly afterwards, we just collapsed and went to bed.
--SUNDAY-- Woke up earlier than planned. Oh well. I had a weird dream involving a store full of truffles, but the rest is a bit hazy. And apparently, I'm a pillow stealer, according to Ashley. She woke up in the middle of the night and lifted her head to look at the clock. At this exact moment, I (according to her reenactment) violently snatched the pillow away from her, still asleep by the way. A little startled, she ripped it away from me, and I eventually found my own pillow and didn't bother her again. XDD A pillow stealer caught in the act apparently. =)
While getting ready to go out, we watched Shrek 2. Awesome movie. ^^ Then more shopping filled the morning. Cynthia bought her gorgeous $40 leather jacket (a really good deal and possibly a used jacket, considering there were candy wrappers in the pockets XD). Alice spent a ghastly amount of time at this one store, which led to me fooling around with my digital camera and trying on shoes that I never would have bought in the first place. XD I'll post the pictures that Cynthia and I took of ourselves inside the store while we were waiting for Alice, later. (Although, it'll be somewhat protected, since my parents are wary about internet stalkers ::queue rolling of eyes:: ) I found this one pair of sunglasses that I kind of wanted to buy, but then I accidentally knocked off another pair from the rack and one of the lens popped out. So...never mind. Haha.
There was a backstage tour, which wasn't absolutely amazing or anything but still quite interesting. The props and little gadgets were pretty cool. The stage in one of the theaters completely falls apart, which I thought was really cool. So, it enables the set to be completely different for each play. Thus, Anne Frank can have the enormous set, and Importance of being Earnest could have the rotating set all in one day. That's so awesome. ♥
For lunch, we ate at Pangeas again, and for the second time on the trip, I got an awesome comment about my NERV bag. The waiter, I guess, or one of the guys (he had long brown hair tied in a pony tail) who delivers the food to the tables, said and I quote, "That is the coolest purse that I've ever seen in the world!" ^_^ Definitely happy level booster. He came back later and asked, "Is it safe to say that you watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, then?" I gave him a shy yes and went back to eating. XD This whole time I had no idea that Cynthia was completely crushing on him. I guess it was the hair. ¬.¬; So for the rest of the trip, we called him "my NERV boy" whom Cynthia thought was absolutely gorgeous. XDD
We returned to the Tudor Guild Gift shop before our last play of the evening. ::cries:: I bought myself a Shakespearean Love Mug, with which I'm in love. You'll see. I took many pictures of the beautiful mug. XD OCD? Maybe...
The Winter's Tale was terrible in my opinion. Well, the play itself isn't one of Shakespeare's best anyway (the club agrees with me Stephy, so don't be made at me....>.<). The good acting saved the evening, but I got insanely bored. I started to fidget which is not good when you're sitting in a tiny seat in a theater with wonderful acoustics. It really doesn't leave much room for fidgeting. But I must say one thing...for a play with the famous stage directions of: "Exit pursued by bear" or something of that nature, there was no bear. T.T And the bear sounds...they didn't even sound like bear sounds. =.= Tsk tsk.
After returning to the hotel/inn/motel, we started to pack and while doing so, Cynthia really wanted to watch Shanghai Noon. Afterwards, I wanted to watch Back to the Future but everyone else was tired, so I didn't protest. ::sniff:: Note to self: Set aside time to watch Back to the Future sometime...^.^
--MONDAY-- We left promptly at 8am for home in the lovely charter bus. I was determined to read Light in August, but I kept falling asleep and Cynthia would wake me up abruptly. And when I sleep on the bus, without intending to, it's not pretty. ::shakes head in shame:: I didn't even get to watch Waking Ned Divine on the way back because I was so determined to finish reading Light in August. ::pouts::
+++-----++-----+++
I was going to mention something else that happened, but now I really really don't remember. T.T Oh well...it'll come to me in the middle of the night or something. ::sigh::
Anyways...all in all, I had a lot of fun in Ashland. I got to know Cynthia, Alice, and Ashley a little better. So, that was nice. There were many laughs, moaning in pain from upset stomachs, and complaints when we didn't want to go back to school. But I absolutely loved the no sales tax thing. Definitely helped me when I bought some things for meself at the comic book store. =)
On Tuesday morning, I received depressing news from UCLA, but once at home, uplifting news from University of San Diego (and money too, which always makes me happy, haha)
But I really dislike Calculus now. It's made me believe that I suck at math. I used to be good at it, but then Calculus just had to come along, didn't it? Grr...and even now, it doesn't make any sense. Infinite series? What? I'll take derivatives and integrals any day, please!!
More good news from UC Davis as well. So I'm 7/8 so far...but this is out of the 15 that I've applied to, so the waiting game's not over yet.
Thursday was just plain awesome. If you ignore the icky Hinduism test in Religion, the day was rather enjoyable. ^_^ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Friday...well...Physics isn't very fun anymore, either. School in general with all of the tests and everything. It's seriously sucking the life out of me...but what's a girl supposed to do? ::shrugs:: Although, Spanish was fun because Senora went on the Senior Retreat with Shana and everyone else. Therefore, no quizzes and no school work. Although, technically we were supposed to be reading "El Sur" (ollau and I were the only ones working. I feel a little nerdy now.) We stopped after a half hour...so don't mock. XD The rest of the 85 minutes was spent watching ollau make three paper cranes and three stars out of one sheet of paper and then helping her smash them like bugs with piles of books and binders. Muwahahaha! We're weird. Yes...I know. ^_~
This entry is as long enough as it is...so let's wrap it up. In Microsoft Word, it’s FOUR FREAKIN’ PAGES LONG!! O.O Less of an entry, and more like a short novel. XDDD Oops!
The end.

Thursday, March 9, 2006First off...on the way home, I saw this license plate that said, "Aye yah". ^_^ Awesome.
New layout~! I hope this layout turned out well. I kind of like it, but I'm still a little iffy. I kind of just played with blending options and stuff...then went through my folder of brushes to see whichever looked cool enough. XD It's a little random, but I've been yearning for a dark based layout for a while. Dark blue's close enough, right? ::poke:: Let me know what you think. =)
Anyways, altogether, this week has been a crappy quiz week. Even our religion quiz on Islam sucked. T.T All the choices were not in English. The English quiz was alright for me, but the Calculus quiz on infinite series. Let's not talk about that one. ::shuns::
If you ignore all that...then this week was just swell. XD Especially today.
But dance practice at anayufan's house is always cool. Although it took us 50 minutes to get there from school. >.< Oops.
For once, I actually was looking forward to Spanish class. Why? Because we had a fiesta. Whee! Senora actually let us have a party. It's amazing. There was so much good food that I couldn't help myself. Therefore...full. But then... We celebrated KP's birthday today by taking the TWENTY-FOUR of us to CPK. The bill was $302+. So I split a pizza with ollau since she was also full due to the fiesta. But that wasn't all of it. BLam led the ones who stayed to this bakery nearby and we bought a cake, put candles on it, and then ate it. All under 8 minutes. XD We're hungry teenagers. What can I say? So...I officially declare myself as not hungry. ^.^
All in all, I hope KP had fun. She even drove us. And I can proudly say that I wasn't scared one bit.
After eating, Serra and Luffy wanted to go to the museum. I'll quote ollau, "This has been the weirdest excursion that I've ever been on..." =) Ditto.
So...now we have a four day weekend. Today was a short day. Ha! And guess what...
I'm going to Oregon tomorrow, BOOYAH!! ~(>^.^)>

Saturday, March 4, 2006Before I blog about what happened today, let's see what happened this week. Hmm... ::queue flashback music::
It was essay week, meaning that an essay for the AP English Literature class was due on Friday. Everyone's scrambling to get a thesis and write an appropriate essay. I procrastinate until Thursday night, again. I really got to stop doing that. =.=;;
Wednesday was fun. It was KP's birthday. Although we had to wake up hecka early for an Ash Liturgy. I realized that I don't know all the words to "Amazing Grace". How sad is that? KP thought everyone forgot her birthday until someone mysteriously sent her flowers during fourth period. DUN DUN DUN...then ollau and I gave her our present during lunch (Rent, candy, Gardettos, and a canvas bag with a asian girl and KP's name in Chinese in puff paint decorated by ollau). She got more candy and hugs. I'd say she had a very good birthday. ^_^ Mission accomplished.
Thursday felt amazingly a lot like Friday. Seriously. In my planner, I wrote down all my homework in the Friday slot and almost didn't do any homework when I got home until I realized that I really needed to work on my essay. XD Ooops.
My parents got my progress report....freaked out, interrogated my teachers, interrogated me, cut my internet, and now are watching me like a hawk. My grades don't even suck that much. ::mopes::
However, on Friday, I got called pretty. That made the rest of the week with my crazy parents not suck as much. =) And I created a new meaning for the phrase, "I don't know, I could be hiding behind Pooh...". Hahaha. And never spell Potluck wrong... ::shakes head::
Now...today. We went driving around for like an hour and a half. Then my mom took me to get my hair cut...FINALLY!! ^^ Makes me happy. Then off to anayufan's house to learned the American Dance for the International Showcase. Woot. It's really cool. It's like I just pulled him out of Dancing with the Stars because he practically knows how to do all those moves. Very cool. ^.^ And then the day ended with one huge smack in the eye. T.T It hurt. I saw white light. So I just laid down on the couch for a couple of minutes. Found my dad pounding on the door. XD And pack up and left. Today was fun. 'Twas a nice relaxation day from the hectic week that was last. Haha.
Have fun in Disneyland, my friend. Say hi to Peter Pan for me...oh and Aladdin. ♥
Good luck with the CM test. I know you'll knock 'em dead. Haha.
And congratulations, gundamaniac. You're so awesome. XD
Oh...and thanks for the cow on my face, Calvin, from Mardi Gras...
