Thursday, February 24, 2005 11:41 p.m. Worst Birthday Present Ever
So f-ing sad! I found out last week for some reason I hadn't watched three of the Gankutsuou episodes I had downloaded so I watched them today. It was so hard to listen to the first confrontation of Albert and the Count after Albert had realized the Count had deceived him. Man, what a bastard. Albert looked so pitiful. Then he goes and does something really stupid--he challenges the Count to a duel. What?? Man... The best thing was that Franz came back, giving Albert at least one person he could turn to. His parents are useless, his home is basically destroyed, and Eugine is all locked up in her house. The funny thing is that when Franz returns he goes to see Eugine and we learn that Albert's birthday is the same day as his duel. What a moron... So Franz tells Eugine that they're going to have this party for him later on after the duel. Yeah, after Albert's dead?
So what basically happens next? Uh, a scene where Franz and Albert are getting drunk the night before. Laughing...just having a good all time. I was confused for a little before I was like, "wait a minute--is this Franz's plan?" Yes, ma'am. Albert overslept and Franz was indeed fighting the Count instead. It was crazy because they were using like robotic sword-fighters (think Escaflowne, my friend). And Franz basically sucked. He got his ass kicked quickly. It was a horrible fight, especially at the end when Albert rushes to the fight realizing that Franz is in his place and does not make it in time to stop the Count from giving Franz the fatal wound. I really liked Franz. Why couldn't someone stupid die?? He was like Albert's only true friend and he was dead. Albert tried to wrap up his wounds, but it was of no use and of course, it had one of those scenes where the dying person gets his last words while trying not to choke on his own blood. While in Albert's arm he eventually wished Albert a happy birthday before dying. I'm intending to go to sleep soon, so not the best way to go off to sleep. So sad!! Can't imagine what's going to happen next.
This is just something on the side, but on Tuesday, I damn near walked outside with my slippers on. See this is why I don't like slippers. But I can barely tell when I have them on sometimes, especially if I'm in a rush. It was snowing that day too. I walked outside and then noticed as soon as the cold hit me. I was annoyed cuz I had to slide my card to get back in and go back in. Damn slippers...
At 8 Yuri and I went to see the Pirate of Penzance, an operetta. First one I've ever seen. Basically, according to my teacher, it's mostly musical and is comedic. Very true. I kinda hate musicals because of the songs, but it wasn't that bad. Hard as hell to follow the story though. For some reason, this song about the Major General seemed familiar. I dunno why. I've never heard of this play before. The funniest moment was when this bald-headed, short man in red came out saying he was the Major General. He had one of those fancy (kinda fruity, yes) almost lispy voices that was hilarious. Plus he was kinda kid-like and he told this stupid lie that he was an orphan so that the pirates would spare him and not take his like nine daughters. These Pirates of Penzance are lenient upon orphans, for some reason. Don't know why, but it's stupid and funny too. I liked the play and think Yuri did too, I guess. She mostly liked the policemen. They were really funny as well. Cowardly and lanky...and kept singing this refrain of "Taret-ta-ra" or something like that. They were kinda cute in a stupid way. Basically, I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it (10 dollars), but it was a pretty enjoyable class assignment.
Only thing else worth mentioning is that this guy from my Econ class called out to me on Monday and asked to borrow my homework in exchange for 20 bucks. That made me real happy, despite the ethics involved, because I'm broke and unsuprisingly that's when I need to go buy lotion which costs me like over 6 dollars at f-ing Rite-Aid. Unfortunately, he never contacted me, so I guess he either failed to call or I missed his call. I did go to my 5:45 class on Monday and it's possible he called then. Either way, it sucks. Man, I gotta buy stupid stuff. It won't be soon before I have to do laundry again... Maybe. I did do it this week, but... It seems that I have to always wash clothes... Why I do not know. Recycling pants is fine, but shirts... no. Unless I wear the shirt for like an hour or something and that's it. Damn no money! I really should have worked...
I read this strange this on a random forum I happen to be on. I forget why... I was probably looking up a Japanese phrase. Hmm? Oh! No! Before that, I gotta comment on that yaoi anime thing I downloaded. Okay, I read the first chapter on which the OVA was based and I really liked it, but I was dubious of how it would be animated. Okay, I've learned that usually anime cannot be produced as finely (artistically) as the manga (budget cuts), so I was worried of how it would look. I mean Yami no Matsuei--beautiful manga--horrible animation. So sad... but this one was great! It was so nice. I totally enjoyed it! Why? Well, for one thing the story's about this mangaka (author of manga) who meets an older mangaka. Yeah, the older one turns out to be one that the younger admires. However, the older one (32) does not look it! He, Sono, is absolutely hot! And his eyes. God, they remind me of someone, but I can't think of whom. I can't get over it. So besides the fact that he's a great-looking older man, through the anime I got to hear his voice. It is so soft and sexy! However, I had a hard time hearing what he was saying most of the time even with the volume cranked up. The other guy, Seiji (20-ish) is okay. He's not phenomenal like Sono is.
Okay, but the thing that makes this anime-viewing groundbreaking for me is that I discovered a case where I found the uke to be significantly hotter than the seme. This usually is not the case with me. I mean, take Kuroro x Kurapika. No contest--it's Kuroro. But in this Seiji x Sono couple, I really, really like Sono better. In fact, I'm declaring him the sexiest uke I've ever witnessed in manga (and now anime since I've ventured there). And the fact that this is a couple where the uke is untraditionally younger than the seme, makes Sono even hotter. I've been obsessing a little over him for a full day. That's why after that depressing Gankutsou episode, I had to rewatch the anime. I need to remove it from my comp to free up space, but I'm reluctant to. Oh. Well, the second half of that OVA had another chapter of that manga, but it wasn't that noteworthy. Only thing worth mentioning is that the uke from that section looked like Rei from EVA. Kinda scary....
Now back to this forum thing. Yeah, some guy on there commented on how he wasn't gay because he watched yaoi anime or read the manga. Uh... Okay... His logic was something about how straight men are attracted to the beautiful way they're drawn and the uke's tendency to look and act like a woman. Something stupid like that. I'm sorry. This is my opinion: if you're a fan of yaoi and you're a guy--you're gay. Now it's fine if a guy, out of curiosity, checks out yaoi to see what it's about because he's a fan of anime/manga. This doesn't apply to a girl cuz she's not watching girls, she's watching men. If I had a male friend and caught him watching some yaoi thing, I'd think he was gay no matter how many girls he was with. Sorry. There's nothing wrong with a guy investigating it, but if he's seriously and purposely seeking to watch or read it, he's gay! Come on! "They look and act like girls" is just bull-crap. Sounds like pre-gay rationalization to me.
Anyway, off to bed. Hope re-watching that yaoi anime offsets that sad scene. I did watch Tactics, but it wasn't that interesting. The previous episode was where the guy who does... *shudders*...that guy who does the voice of Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter (so scary! They picked the best guy!) was doing the voice of a priest. A smiling priest working for that cool villain guy whose name I still can't recall. The priest, named Edwards, I think may return. I hope so. Well, once I learned he was one of the scariest voices in anime, I was frightened. You know, when I just read Hunter x Hunter manga I was creeped out by Hisoka. Then I watched the anime and could of screamed; he was ten times more scary. Then he's the voice of Kikumaru from Prince of Tennis?? So wrong! Kikumaru is so cute, but I try not to think of his voice too much... Or I get scared... Yes, it's stupid, but I can't help it. So scary!

Sargent Sleasy: No, you know what an outrage is, boy? Your breath is an outrage, boy! You need to go--go chew on some mint leaves, all right?? You got gingivitis! Go to the infirmary, tell 'em to wash your mouth out with chlorine or something, boy! -- At the DMV after the final test
Wednesday, February 23, 2005 11:13 p.m. L is Dead! I should cry (in joy of course)!!
Hontou ni yatta n da, Raito wa! I cannot believe he did it! Okay, Raito not only got Rem to do his bidding, but also got the notebook back, got L to die and his death possibly will put another great moment in anime/manga history in Death Note's corner. Oh, my God. That look Raito had as L collasped. Freaking crazy! But I'm almost frightened... What will happen from now on? It's getting crazy, man... Is this the end of Death Note. Man, if it ended right now, I would be so happy. Be the greatest ending to any manga I have ever read. Ever. Hmm, there's a parody of it as well. I'm going to take a moment to read it... Oh, that was dumb.
My yaoi manga reading has turned into a bad habit. I've downloaded waaaaaaay too much and for the past two days, I stayed up later than I would had to finish reading some random manga. But, my interest has grown and I've found some authors that I may be interested in collecting their works. The most recent is... Hmm. Sakura Ashika. Also known by the name Sakurako Gokurakuin. That started today. I read... What did I read of hers? Err... I dunno. Oh, I guess it was just the Sensitive Pornograph. No, no, no. It was what I stayed up last night to read--Tokyo Renaikitan. I really liked it. Met my requirements. Was not a stupid one about a student and teacher (looked like it was going to be, but it's really not), not shota (I cannot stomach that often), and it was not too raunchy, nor too...light? Anyways, I thought it was cute. Too bad more's not translated. So whenever I pretty much like a manga, I go to see if the author's done anything else interesting or anything else that's been translated.
Bottom line it's a problem. One that won't be lifted easily... Why the hell is it so addictive? Ack. Speaking of said author, the manga I previously mentioned--sensitive one--had been animated... I'm downloading it right now. I'm going to give it a shot. I don't know if I'll be able to stomach it in animation, though I loved it as a manga. It was so nice. We'll see...
Many things have happened since my last entry... Most importantly I had a great weekend. It started on Friday where I went to see the Spongebob movie. Funny, but not as great as I had hoped. I kept thinking, "This really isn't oriented toward kids in some ways..." I hated that so many kids were there. I hate how kids laugh. They sound fake, but it's real. Plus, they will laugh just to laugh. I hate that! Damn kids... After the movie, I actually got around to reading all of my management stuff. Bonus points! The next day, I think I did my Econ homework before I went to... Oh. Before I went to the party at Aiko's house. She had a party for the Japanese-studying students and their speaking partners. Yuri said I should go, so I finally decided to go since Toya T was going.
Toya had a friend drive us over there at what I thought was too early. However, most of the people from my class that were coming were already there. The place was so small, but nice. While Aiko and some other Japanese girls finished cooked, we watched a little of Lost in Translation. I love that movie. Especially that part where Bill Murray gets yelled at by the director of that commercial. So funny! Anyways, then we started to eat. I got some kaarage, the pancake thingy (forgot its name), rice ball... Oh. I ate a little miso soup before I got sick of it and just left it somewhere. I wanted more chicken, but I was reluctant to get any. And I forgot to try Japanese mayo! It's supposed to be different and I guess better? What could be better than Helman's? I find it hard to believe.
We stayed for a long time. From 8-midnight. Longer than I expected. Really, not doing much of anything. I talked a little with people, watched people play some game where you try to knock stacked up pieces without letting the others fall, ate a red-bean candy thing (f-ing good actually), and ate some mochi. Well, I hope that's not how mochi is supposed to be... Cuz it was kinda...eww... It was supposed to be a good atmosphere to speak Japanese, but we didn't speak much. I got bored really easily... It seemed everyone was able to find someone to talk to except me... Yeah. The outcast. My speaking partner wasn't there, but I think some of the people there (well, some I know--like these two random white boys coming in to drink) were not there for the purpose they were supposed to be. And it wasn't like it was a roomy place.
I went back home and ate some chips... I got hungry afterwards. Toya T and some others and I walked back home. Luckily, it wasn't that cold. Wasn't a bad party. However, I don't know anymore Japanese people than I did before. Oh, well! Sunday. I woke up late. Why not? I had nothing to do. Skipped lunch and ate ramen. Showered late. I have no idea what I did in between, but at 6 I went to the BSU's dinner theater. It was nice. Not really a waste of six dollars, and my friends, I am broke. Toya T was in it, as well as some others I knew, but I had to sit with some people I didn't know. Food wasn't great... It had the same kind of chicken you could get at the dinning hall (Hell, it was in the back half of the dinning hall)--that fake fried chicken. I wanted some real fried chicken! I would have eaten more and like I usually do (picking up that chicken and gobbling like there ain't no tomorrow) if I wasn't conscious of the people around me. The acting scenes were great. There was one of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Fannie Mae, Brown vs. the Board of Education and more. It was good. I ate well enough. Afterwards I chatted with Toya T and then returned to my room. I had promised to help Yuri proofread. Took a long time, but I outta help. She kinda helps me with Japanese... Yeah...
Nothing really to report this week cept that I got a lot of shit to do. Right now I ought to be studying Wellness. Yep, that test from last week had been cancelled. Earlier I had been studying management. We got a test on Monday! Man!! Japanese test on Friday... I have to go see the play on Thursday so I can write a critique on it by Monday for Theater class. Had an Accounting test on Monday, but it's been pushed to Wednesday. Great. Same day as my Econ test. Another 88 in store for me?? Also, by Wednesday I must have Juliet and Romeo (yes, I have it backwards--who cares??) critique in. So much... Anything else? Hmm... Don't think, so.. Anyway, I want to see the movie Ray on Friday (I think I got money--better), so can't see the play on that day, nor should I on Saturday with the little time I have. I actually did okay with my studying Management today. Not too bad. I'll study some more Wellness tomorrow morning. If I ever wake up.
Okay, let me talk about the Wellness class a little. We moved out of the aerobic room and are now in the weight room. It sucks! The machines are weird... And now my arms hurt today. Thanks. But thankfully, like last time, we were only in there for about twenty minutes. Oh! And the greatest thing ever! Tuesday, they had chicken nuggets on self-serve when I got there! I was the first to get some! Sadly, I started to get sick after eating a little (well, sorta when I began eating my potato salad). Godsend... More lunches should be like that...
Okay, I'm cold and wishing for some more time to kick back and watch anime. But according to my schedule, tomorrow's going to be hella-busy. I must finish studying chapter 6 and then hopefully start my critique of Pirates play. That would be nice. I should finish it by Friday despite I'm planning to finish studying chapter 7 by Friday night. This weekend will suck as will next week. And I can't go back to Mugenjou! *crying* F-ing poorness! Grr! I want some money! I need lotion anyways...
Quote from Lost in Translation: Katto, katto, katto, katto, katto ("Cut" x 5)!!
--Director getting pissed off at Bob (Bill Murray) because he's not acting as he's directing because the translator is doing a poor job. Even more hilarious once you understand everything the director tells him and what the intrepretor actually tells Bob
