We had a great Christmas. I posted some pictures. Click here.

Saturday, December 22, 2001 11:53 a.m.

I've had quite a few people ask what we're giving Brenna for Christmas. We tried not to spoil her as much as last year but here is the list.

Fisher Price Grow to Pro Basketball hoop (for outside)
Fisher Price Little People Discovery City
Little People garbage truck to go with above
Kids CD player with sing-a-long mircophone
Western Kelly doll with pony
Talking Woody doll

Her stocking will be filled with lots of miscellaneous things. A music CD with Mickey Mouse singing latin hit songs, Dumbo on DVD, another Kelly doll, some Little People figures, tub crayons, a princess crown and play earrings, matchbox cars, etc.

She also got some money and a Toys R Us gift card for Christmas, so I took her the other day and let her pick out what she wanted, with some guidance. We got her a fairy princess dress-up outfit and the Fisher Price Little People circus train. I regret the circus train now though because I fell in in love with the Little People Zoo train and bought that at ShopKo yesterday.

And just when I thought I was done, I caved in and got the Fisher Price Little People Animal Sounds Zoo off Ebay. I might put that away for Valentine's Day.

Could she possibly look any more miserable? My poor baby. :-(

Looks like I have to finally stop saying "Brenna never gets sick!". I guess we've done well for over two years though. Still no ear infections, knock on wood.

She got sick with a high fever on Wednesday and it continued through last night. It fluctuated between 101 to 104 along with congestion, no appetite, etc.

Her fever finally broke between last night and this morning, so we thought she was on the road to recovery and breathing a sigh of relief. However, the few little spots she had on her cheek this morning, which I thought was heat rash from sleeping, started to grow and spread to where she now has spots all over her face, neck, back and chest. As the day wore on she became listless and grouchy. We called our insurance nurse hotline around 7:30 to see if we should take her into urgent care but she deduced it is roseola which is a very common toddler age virus. The spots appear after 2-4 days of high fever. We initially thought it was chicken pox. Either way there is no real treatment for either problem so she advised keeping her home, treating her symptoms if necessary and keeping an eye on the spots. Poor baby. At least she is sleeping really well, and all her other problems seem to be gone, like her stuffy nose. She is breathing really well. I guess if it's roseola, it will clear up within 3 days.

Today we went to the children's museum with our friends Susanne and Josh. Josh is about 18 months old and the cutest little thing! We never used to see much of them because Susanne was a working mom but was recently laid off unfortunately. The good news is that she is pregnant again(yay!) and has now decided to be a full-time mom for a couple years. I was so psyched for her! I know she'll never regret it.

We've been incredibly busy so far in December. Every day there has been something we have done. So I haven't been very good at updating Brenna's weblog. Today we went to Ocean Journey with our friends Jackie and Meredith. Brenna had a great time and amazingly she stuck close to me the entire visit. I am usually used to her running off and me chasing her down all the time which is no fun for me at all. So it was a special bonus that I was able to enjoy the trip as well! LOL! She did get a little hyper in the gift shop at the end but I was able to forgive her for that.
