Wednesday, December 13, 2000 06:28 p.m. We had holiday portraits of Brenna taken yesterday.
Friday, December 8, 2000 4:33 p.m.
We went to the mall today with two other moms so we could visit Santa. Brenna was asleep and so the other two babies went first. They did splendidly. They were curious and calm and not at all afraid. Brenna woke up by the time they were finished so went up for our turn. It was a disaster. Before she was even in his lap she started screaming and kicking. I tried a couple times but no go. Santa felt bad about it so he offered to stand up and pose next to us for a photo but Brenna was so upset she wouldn't even look at the camera. So we don't have any decent Santa photos. Santa gave her a free storybook even though we didn't buy a photo package and I thought that was a very nice thing for him to do.
The first photo entry is from the Santa fiasco. The second is just some miscellaneous photos from November.

Yay! The November/December issue of Mothering features water birth. The article written by Nicole Lundrigan about her home water birth really made me remember mine all over again. Her experience reminded me so much of my own. I got teary eyed and nostalgic.

We had lunch at Subway today. On a whim I decided to put a booster chair in the booth instead of using the highchair. To our amazement, little Miss Brenna sat in the booster happy as a clam and didn't try to get up once. It was sort of neat having her sitting right next to me. I am going to try this tactic here at home because she refuses to eat in her highchair any more. I am glad we didn't waste money buying an expensive one. I think the cheap Graco we got was on sale for about $25. We do have a travel highchair that converts to a booster which we bought when she was about 4 months old. It's been in the basement for months because early on she figured out how to remove the tray and feeding time was very aggravating, hence the addition of the cheap Graco about 5 months ago.

I was so fed up with Blogger. It ate all my archives except for one page! Luckily all the past entries from 'made from scratch' were still available via the edit section, so I took the time to copy/paste them all into Pitas, painstakingly inserting paragraph breaks and so forth. BLECH! What a pain in the ass. So now all the previous entries from this diary, dated 9-19-00 through 11-12-00, now reside all on one archived page. Just click on the link in the lefthand column.
Brenna is all better. Her illness seemed to have worn off by Monday evening. She still has a bit of diarrhea but is otherwise acting normal and eating regularly although picky as usual.
We skipped the Monday playgroup and Gymboree on Tuesday. But we went to the local children's museum yesterday with Jinx and Xoe. Today we went on a field trip to the Denver Children's Museum with Jinx and Tami. I have to say that I wasn't that thrilled with the DCM. I think the other one we go to is much better for many reasons.
Anyway, at the DCM Brenna did something new I've never noticed before. She picked up a wooden spoon and proceeded to mix imaginary food in a bowl! I have never seen her play pretend like this so I was very excited. She was also trying to drink out of the cups. So I now I want to buy her some kitchenware for Christmas. We did buy her the Little Tikes Victorian Kitchen for Christmas and now I'm so glad we did. I was previously thinking she was too young for a play kitchen but I guess not. We also bought her the Little Tikes Country Table and Chairs. Now I'm just trying to figure out where we're going to put all that stuff, along with the playhouse that we can't put outside until next summer......sigh.
