We were sitting here watching tv, and Brenna bent forward on her head like she always does, to look between her legs behind her, but then did a PERFECT somersault forward without flopping to the side or anything. It was beautiful!!! I got so excited and started to clap, so now she is trying to do it again. I have no idea at what age kids can do somersaults but I am very impressed! Yes, I am a proud mama!

Around Christmas we attached a pretty sturdy gate across the bottom of our staircase out in the living room. Well, today I was in the kitchen while Brenna was in her playroom, all of a sudden I hear extreme giggling and little footsteps UPSTAIRS. I thought "no way" but when I went over to check, sure as heck there she was up there looking down at me with a mischievous grin looking so satisfied with herself. SIGH. I distinctly remember closing and latching the gate a few minutes before so I know I didn't forget to close it. She must have done it herself. Will this ever end?? Just when I think we've devised a way to get peace of mind, she figures out ways around it. What do you do when baby gates no longer work? I guess I am just not ready to give Brenna full run of the house, I mean, she doesn't know how to get down the stairs very well......the rest of the house isn't totally babyproof (ie. cat litter box, etc).

Tooth #8 is poking up through the gums today. For the longest time Brenna only had three bottom middle teeth, yet all four top teeth. I thought it looked sort of strange and off-balance. Now she'll have a full set of 8 front teeth. :-) I wonder when the molars will start coming in. No signs yet so far.

I ordered this adorable dinnerware set from Pottery Barn Kids. It's her first set of dishware! Yay! (Now if she would only follow the advice written on the plate....)

We went to a birthday party on Saturday the 13th for my friend Cari's daughter Sydney who just turned 2. The party was held at a rec center so the kids went swimming. The photo entry has some shots of Brenna in the pool with Daddy.

Brenna is 16 months old today!

Someone asked me how many words Brenna can say now. So I had to stop and think about it. She says quite a few and seems to understand what she is saying.

They are:
hi
bye
no
kitty
puppy
mommy
daddy
juice
cup
'nana (for banana)
cow (she loves the moo sound best on her See 'n Say)
ni' (for nice, says when she pets the cats because I always tell her 'nice kitty' so she won't hit them)
and today she said "Seeba" which means "Sheba" the name of our longhaired black cat. Sheba is always and I mean always, lounging on the landing of the stairs. As we go up, I always say "Hi Sheba" or just her name. I guess Brenna picked up on that because today she said it before I did!
