layout yeah yeah, those two again. again. I need to stop reading X and listening to those mix CDs, but neither is likely to happen soon...so it's Subaru and Seishirou again. song is "Foolish Games" by Jewel.

you took your coat off
and stood in the rain
you were always crazy like that

I watched from my window
always felt I was outside
looking in on you
you were always the mysterious one
with dark eyes and careless hair
you were fashionably sensitive
but too cool to care
then you stood in my doorway
with nothing to say
'sides some comment on the weather

Well in case you failed to notice
in case you failed to see
this is my heart bleeding before you
this is me down on my knees
these foolish games
are tearing me apart
your thoughtless words
are breaking my heart
you're breaking my heart

you were always brilliant in morning
smoking your cigarettes
and talking over coffee
your philosophies on art
Baroque moved you
You loved Mozart and
you'd speak of your loved ones
as I clumsily strummed my guitar

well excuse me - think I've
mistaken you for somebody else
somebody who gave a damn
somebody more like myself

these foolish games
are tearing me
you're tearing me
you're tearing me apart
and your thoughtless words
are breaking my heart...

you're breaking my heart

you took your coat off
and stood in the rain
you were always crazy like that

AA-YA!!! *cue fangirl squeaks*

Ryuuichi x Ryuuichi....the singer one x the cutesy one....hey, somebody should...NO.

Kamui x Fuuma. Noin x Chiaki. Youji x Youji (hee hee hee). Sakano x Brad (!) Farfello x Shuuichi (!!!) Subaru x Furuba Yuki (PRETTY!!!!!) Ayame x K (INSANITY!!!!!) Working on Bound is somehow getting difficult. It might just be the stress I'm under nowadays, but the pages I've done look a bit tired. My goal for this chapter was to fix most technical aspects that have gone wrong in the first two chapters, and I swore that if I hated a page, no matter if it had been drawn and inked already, it would get tossed into the trash and I'd start over.

I feel like I haven't accomplished anything. This is very sad, because I'm sure I must have drawn nearly fifteen pages so far - inked about half of them - and decided to keep...maybe five. Maybe. I might toss one of them out to start over.

The obvious solution is to learn to do it right the first time, but... T-T

Yes, more. XD Everyone seems to be falling victim to the generators.

"Yuuto was in a cafe when he decided to seduce Ryuuichi. So he showed him some magic tricks and they had mad bunny sex." At this point I'm tempted to point out that the phrase "mad bunny sex" and "Ryuuichi" being used in the same sequence has such a....nevermind, I'll shut up now.

"Saitoh was at Tokyo Tower when he saw Aragorn. So he showered him with roses and plushy toys and dressed him up in pretty clothes and gave him a kitten." ... XD

And...um...

"Ayame was in a cafe when he accidentally knocked down Souma Yuki. So he took him to a hot springs spa and they..."

....

...............

Meia, now you've addicted me to this, too.

"Ayame was in a cafe when he took a liking to Sanzou. So he played with his hair and made him wear a sailor fuku." (the scary part is, it would actually happen. XD)

Also, when the phrase "hit on him with a 2x4" was used, considering the context, I was thinking of the yaoi type of 2x4. x_x

mp: Right Kind of Wrong - LeeAnn Rimes

Yeah yeah, shouldn't be up this late.

Random Couples Generator. XD Must amuse myself with this tomorrow - first one that popped up was Ayame x Tatsuha. XD Sick. And then I got Ryuuichi x Akito (!!) XDXDXD (HEY! That's EXACTLY what Akito needs! A guy who's lovable, huggable, but won't take any crap if you play some music. Except I'm afraid Akito would behead Kumagorou, which would be unforgivable.)

ABURATSUBO x SHIGURE~!!! XDXDXD

....Subaru......x....TATSUMI. XD

Lisa, I am working on Bound, I swear. More drawing than Photoshopping nowadays, but I always draw a little bit each day (though I don't always keep what I draw ^^;). And that girl is getting chewed out in front of the whole cast daily, so I'm pretty satisfied now... ^^;;

Bad start. Getting B-pluses in most classes, it seems. I hate B-pluses. They're the most shameful kind of grade, because the teacher mocks you with the plus. Almost there, not quite, could have rounded your number up a bit, didn't feel like it. (Well, I'm getting a B+ in English for sure. She's the only teacher who's actually mocking me - this annoys the hell out of me because I have constantly gotten A's all through my high school honors classes, and being slapped down with a B+ is irritating as hell. Why be in an honors class, then, if you have to use your honors points to drag up your honors GRADE? Still, I technically have an A in government, but the test I took while I felt sick didn't get dropped at the quarter, but it shall at the semester.

School is evil. I forgot about a chem quiz that I had first thing this morning. It was on dozens of chemical formulas and ions that had to be simply memorized. I got two out of ten right. Yay me.

Oh, in random good news - that silly college photography class I took this summer? Yeah, the one I took because I wanted to find out if I had some kind of inner genius waiting to be unlocked from inside a camera? And I learned that I was a bad photographer?

Well, I got an A in the class, as it turns out.

That's not the good news. XD

The GOOD news is that college courses are weighted so heavily in comparison to high school courses. I got an A in my Japanese I class all those years ago, an A in this photo class, and am on my way to an A in Japanese II...and my college counselor showed me the difference in my GPA I can put on college apps with that photo class grade added. And I HAVE to wonder, why doesn't EVERYONE take silly college classes like that if they make your GPA jump so many points?!

np: Foolish Games - Jewel

Actually got to SF today. T_T SF Kino is so stupid. There were about a dozen items I wanted, none of them ridiculous, and they didn't have a one. So I bought two Copic and three tankoubon that I didn't really want very badly.

X 11: Already read it, like most X tankoubon I don't own. Bought it to close the gap in the spines between X 10 and 12 on my shelf. At least the art is nice, but if you'd told me that X could have a filler volume, I wouldn't have believed you. Because X IS filler...but somehow...they managed it...
Nana 1: I had only heard good things about this, but I was horribly disappointed. I only bought it because they didn't have a single volume of Parakiss, so I figured I might as well snag something to get my Yazawa fix and the cover was pretty. But I was bored stiff - it didn't do anything for me like Parakiss does. I didn't feel that surge of longing to go out and do something special with my life. I didn't even like any of the characters. It still had that taste of style and realism that was expected, but I was so crushed that I wasn't enchanted by the manga that I couldn't bring myself to care much. By regular manga standards, it was fine, but after expecting the love and ambition of Parakiss, I felt like stomping back to Kino and asking for my money back. ^^;;
Hanazakari no Kimitachi he 18: I left off at tankoubon 9, but this was the only one they had after it. I don't appear to have missed much. Yay. Things are winding down. I'm glad - it's a great story, but I think it's time for it to finish soon. The filler story about the trasure hunt really irritated me - what was the point of that going in between the actual storyline and not being bangaihen? I would have lost my mind if I was reading Hana to Yume. But overall it was the best tankoubon of the series I read so far. I wanted to give Nakatsu a hug in the worst way, the Sano angst seems to be much better now, and Mizuki is looking more and more like a girl. Bigger eyes and her hairstyle...at one point in this tankoubon, she had her hair pulled back from the sides, and I was staring at it, "...NO boy wears their hair like that."

Overall, a pretty good day. We went to go see Spirited Away at the J-town theater, so I got to see it twice in one week - sub and dub. Haku voice MUCH better in Japanese. I don't know - I decided to give the movie the benefit of the doubt and watch it twice before I said anything, but I honestly don't understand quite what all the fuss is about. Except for Haku. He is deserving of all fuss he recieves and more. Anyway, I wasn't that wild about the movie in general. I didn't like the way the animation and backgrounds didn't match up. It looked sloppy and nothing like what I've come to expect from Ghibli - there were beautifully painted backgrounds and beautiful characters, but they didn't mesh. In the beginning scene when Chihiro and her family walk into the room before the end of the tunnel, they don't cast shadows on the floor. That seized my attention right off the bat, and I remained irritated by these problems throughout the movie, even though later scenes didn't make the same mistake. In some scenes, the attempts to make the two mix together was fairly impressive - when Sen runs down the halls of the bathhouse, you can see her reflection in front of her and her shadow behind her. But it still didn't look right with the sharp contrast between the lines of animation and realism of the paintings, and overall I was displeased when Ghibli movies usually let their backgrounds live and breathe.

And no, I'm not comparing it to Mononoke. I haven't seen Mononoke since it was in the theaters here so I can't say that much about it clearly, but I rewatched some of Totoro this week to see if I was going crazy, but in Totoro blades of grass would MOVE and LIVE, you know...everything MOVES. Spirited Away was static. I felt like the animators realized this, were trying to fix the problem too late. While Chihiro walks down the street of the abadnoned town, the street is obviously painted and unmoving. As though the animators are trying to prove that it is indeed "real", two of the laterns blow in the wind belatedly. Sen looks across the water at the pigpens, and as if they're another mistake only caught at the last moment, waves lap silently at the shore like an afterthought. At the end of the movie, Chihiro runs through the field. It's supposed to be windy, but they just place an animated cel of grass blowing in the wind in front of the static painted field. It looked sloppy, and once I started noticing these silly details, I just couldn't stop. I felt irritated watching this, when Ghibli is famous for having such an eye for detail.

The only backgrounds I found up to the usual standard were the beautifully painted sunsets shown as Sen and Kaonashi were on the train.

Yeah, maybe I'm being too picky. The story was fine, but moved a little too quickly. I wanted the movie to take its time. Slow down, let me enjoy it. Get to know the atmosphere and its characters.

As far as animation went though, Ghibli really came through in certain scenes. All the character animation had the usual eye for detail throughout the movie, but in most scenes I was watching it with one eye on the characters and the other eye on the backgrounds. The scenes that left me wide-eyed with the usual Ghibli standard were pretty much everything involving Haku - everything about the way he moved delighted me. The scenes where he runs with Chihiro to hide her left me dazzled. Dragon scenes were also gorgeous - he moved like a ribbon in the wind. The scene at the end when he gets his real name back left me delighted, as his scales shattered and he transformed back.

Final verdict being: Haku makes it all worth it. Good detail, but the backgrounds irritated me to no end to the point they were really starting to ruin the movie. I adored all the quirks of the other world - all the bits with the rat/baby and bird/crow made me giggle especially. Have to go watch more Ghibli movies to see if this problem with the backgrounds is in the rest, but I can't believe I never noticed that before. A good story, but it doesn't throw the moral in your face like other Ghibli movies do. As far as girl-power and growing up goes, I liked Majo no Takyuubin better - but once again, Haku.

About an hour after I was doing the responsible thing and signing up for the December ACTs and SATs...my ACT scores came in.

My mom's throwing a happy kind of fit downstairs. And now I'm not going to the December ACTs I just signed up for. Because I really don't have to.

Yeah, it's a stupid test that doesn't mean a thing except to colleges. But now I'm just very pleased that I don't have to worry as much about what colleges think of me. It's very relaxing.

np: Not Pretty Enough - Kasey Chambers

Feeling much better now. Thanks so much to everyone who emailed me~~

Play update: We preview tomorrow. Oh my goodness. Today was the most horrible practice we've ever had, because even though we were supposed to be without scripts for two weeks now, today was the first day that actually happened. We had to cut the entire first scene from our performance tomorrow. Because it was that bad.

I wasn't exactly doing well either, but of course the one who was a total nightmare was - that's right! the girl I was supposed to replace! She was so bad that I honestly almost expected her to get kicked out today, week before opening or no. What a bitch. I say that with conviction. Never onstage when she's supposed to be. Never in the theater. And today, the amount of effort she put forth showed through - I missed most of it while waiting for my cue, but while the entire first scene was rough, we had to cut it because of her because she didn't know a SINGLE LINE without prompting. And then...

Mr. Y: Are you going to be ready?
Girl: *shrug* Sure. I really do know all my lines. Really. I knew them yesterday.
Everyone: ... (And it's snowing in hell.)
Mr. Y: Well...I guess I'll just have to trust that you can do this.
Girl: *snottily* Well, that'd be nice, because nobody ELSE does.
Me: *bites lips and tries not to jump off the stage to strangle her*
Everyone: .... *scuttles off*

If I wasn't supposed to be the mature one in that group...as it was, I was biting my lips, because I knew that if I opened my mouth I'd be screaming, "You BITCH. You're here ONE-FOURTH the time you're SUPPOSED to be here, and I'VE been covering for you EVERY MOMENT you've been irresponsible, and I'M not getting ANY credit for that, and now you fuck up and you have the NERVE to insult everyone ELSE HERE FOR IT?!"

I remind you all once again, they could have had me. I mean...ME! Who never complains and shows up to almost every practice and...oh, nevermind, too late now.

And I joined a new club this week and became its publicist. WHAT the HELL is WRONG with me? Do I not have enough STRESS as it IS? Apparently not.

np: Goodbye to You - Michelle Branch

Tired. Exhausted. So sick of...well, most things.

Topic of distraction of the moment: Kamui and Shinji. Two hopelessly whiny ukes - so, KamuixShinji or ShinjixKamui? Discuss it amongst yourselves.

(Brought to you by another midnight conversation with Les.)
