np: Hemisphere - Sakamoto Maaya

*grumble* I should have uploaded the image for my new layout so I could work on it here at school. In truth I should of course be finishing up Bound, because I know I keep saying that it's almost done. And it is. Only the last page and then the two colors. Now, I admit, I'm just being a bit lazy, but I prefer to call it "uninspired" especially when it's something I really enjoy. When I like it so much, I wonder why I'm being lazy? (But I have art class next period. So it's fine.)

I really need to work on college apps. Like, tonight. *sigh* All in all, I'm not doing so badly. School isn't very hard. I'm practicing kanji in between classes (some mistakes got out of control though, and I have to unlearn a bunch that I've been writing incorrectly). Life won't spiral out of control for a bit longer. Stuff I need to remember:

-college essay rough draft due next Tuesday
-college meeting Tuesday at fifth
-play auditions Tuesday...er, crap, busy next Tuesday
-Japanese class starts tomorrow night
-club fair on Thursday
-improving sleeping hours to become a less irritable, nicer person

Right.

np: When You Say Nothing At All - Alison Krauss

Was I the only one vaguely disappointed in the new Gravi sound story? I mean, I understand that drama albums are generally meant to be filler - but while the series focuses very largely on Yuki and Shuuichi's relationship in the manga and TV series, Yuki seems strangely absent from the dramas. *shrug* Their entire relationship is degraded to working up to the gag when they get interrupted from having sex, which I believe has happened, uh, maybe seven times in both dramas combined now. All but one time is because of the phone ringing, so you'd think they'd learn to unplug it or turn off the cells. ^^;

Also, at the beginning of the drama, I was just "..." because they went back to that point in the anime. "Ore wa otoko ga kirai da!" "Ore wa onna no kakko made shiteru no niiiiii!" Yuki: you're gay, get over it. Shuuichi: you're not a girl, no matter how hard you try or how close you come. Both of you: shut up and get into bed. Now. And turn off all phones beforehand. ("I don't want to tire myself out." "But-" "But then I don't mind doing things that'll tire me out if we're already in bed...get inside." XD)

I guess the dramas could be pretty funny if you haven't read the manga, but they just steal a lot of jokes from the manga but change some words around. Ryuuichi does his little thing from volume 11 twice in the drama with tricking Shuuichi into saying he's doing stuff. I wish we could see more of the singer Ryuuichi.

The only character with a hint of character development in the drama was *dum dum DUM!* Touma. He appears MUCH more often than the first sound story, but while certain scenes made me want to hug him, it wasn't enough. I got a little tired of listening near the end (the drama is about an hour and a half long or so?) so...I don't get it, was he conspiring with Ayaka the whole time to make Hiro and Shuuichi work harder? It seemed that way, but even so I don't see his motive! There was no motive for him to suddenly turn around and approve of Shuuichi. Even in the manga, after he realized he couldn't protect Yuki anymore, he didn't exactly adore Shuuichi. But no, now he's sending them off to Hawaii together. *rolls eyes*

"Touma? You look really happy!"
"Do I? It's because I'm happy to see Shindou-san is working hard."
"Hmm...Touma, you like Shuuichi?"
"Me? Like? Shindou-san?"
"Well, you were happy because you're seeing him, right?"
"I wonder."
"To be 'happy'...means to 'like' something."

"Yes, I did feel 'jealous' and 'angry', but now...I can only think it's 'fun'. Watching them is 'fun'."

But!!! The last scene with Touma and Yuki!!! It made up for it! That was the best Touma scene from anime-related stuff!!

"Nani wo takuranderu?"
"Nanimo....."
"Seguchi."
"........mou....owarimashita kara."
".....kaeru no ka."
"Matteru hito ga iru kara...uchi ni...uchi ni kaerimasu."
"Omae mo...kawatta na."

*dies* I still want to marry Touma.

The rest of the drama was pretty average - sad to say, the funniest bits in the sound stories all are because of K, because seeing Engrish in the manga and hearing Okiayu are two completely different things. When he said "hi-mi-chu!" I nearly died. "Ai amu supaa manejyaa! Ieeei!" XD Also liked his scene with Touma: "Are you implying that I'm toying with Shindou-san?" "Well, I'm doing that too, so it's okay." "Then does it matter?" "Suppose not."

Best line in the drama: "Yuki yuki yuki yuki yuki! Seguchi-san said he'd lend us his condom!" "*SLAM" "....oh, uh, wait, that wasn't right..." "*Condominium*?" "...yeah, yeah, that thing!"

Hearing Hiro go insane was fun, if not scary that I couldn't tell him apart from Sakano when they both lost it. The new song on the CD is really excellent - what's it called? It's much less mushy than the previous one, much more suited to Seki. Overall, I was amused, but it's just drama filler that's just one big gag that on the whole, isn't that funny anyway. Worth it for the Gravi fans just because the seiyuu are so good - props to Yasunori Matsumoto for the way he played Hiro losing his mind to the idea of AYAKA-CHAN TO DEETO! XD

np: Subaru & Seishirou Love Mix CD II

I would worry about Les if I didn't love her so much exactly how she is. XD

"Shows should be more pretty! Shows should be more witty! Shows should be more - what's the word?"
"GAAAAAAAAAY?"
"....*evil!niko* ...EXACTLY."

Meimi: *shrieks* LES. WHAT WAS THAT?
Les: XD It's from the musical The Producers.
Meimi: ! Oh, the gay director. XDXDXD *looks at track list of the CD*sees eight tracks of omake out of twenty* ....Les, you don't really care about the S&S Love Mix, you're just making these to give us sick omake, aren't you.
Les: No! No, I'm......actually, yeah!

The first mix CD only had Yue omake for "Can't Fight the Moonlight". This one has omake interludes between the music. So far I've found two clips from the "Keep It Gay song in The Producers, the Ambiguously Gay Duo theme song from SNL, that "If I Were Gay..." song, a sound clip from God knows what with this girly!boy voice saying shyly, "Sore ni, boku wa...seme nan desu..." XD (! boku! seme! desu!! XDXD all in one sentence!! eee!!), this horrible clip of Subaru and Seishirou saying each other's names to techno music, and this song from a completely random drama Hayami Sho did that Les declared to be "Muraki's Mating Call".

It has Engrish. You've all heard Hayami Sho try Engrish, right?

Meimi: ....um. Les? What's this called?
Les: "Thousand Love". Why?
Meimi: Because I wanted to know what he was saying. I thought it was "Surgeon Love".
Ali: I thought it was "Southern Love".
Les: I don't remember what I thought he was saying when I first heard it, but it definitely wasn't "thousand".

Anyway was SUPER fun. Les drew me a picture of Mamoru as a goodbye present...pastel. Pretty. Fanarrt makes me happier than anything else. X3 We watched "Interview With the Vampire" and mocked it. Then we watched four episodes of Hikago - the ones with the wakajisen (?) and pro prelims. Lots of squealing over the insei gang and staring in shocked horror at Isumi's shirts. Lord, that shirt in episode thirty-three? The bright purple one with the orange stripes? That's the worst shirt I've ever seen. When I told them he won the character poll by a landslide, Les suggested that he has to have horrible fashion sense because otherwise nobody would pay attention to Hikaru at all and the series would rapidly become "Isumi no Go".

Meimi: And they wouldn't have gotten us to shell out for the nishiki-e series with him looking drop-dead gorgeous, either.
Les: That too.

Then we played go - Ali and Les together against me. It was really hard and well matched - we had to stop around four AM since we were too tired, about a quarter of the board was full and maybe only ten squares of territory total for both of us combined. Intense. then we got ready for bed, and Les and I talked for a while after Ali fell asleep as we usually do.

Meimi: And Kamui needs a strong punch in the face, except then his face would be bruised and destroy his only good point.
Les: Come to think of it, he's never really gotten injured or bruised or abused in any way as far as his face is concerned. Fuuma never touches his face.
Meimi: Well, there's licking.
Les: Hmm...but even that's mostly on the neck, right? It appears that Fuuma shows real respect for the Kamui-head.
Meimi: .....uh, like the same way he showed respect for Kotori-head?
Us: *laugh hysterically*
Meimi: ....that wasn't even funny. We need sleep.

After about four or five hours of sleep, got up and had to leave. Woke Les up to say goodbye, hugged her, ran off to get ready for senior portraits. I got to the mall and ran into Suncoast to see if they had the Karekano DVD - that DVD sells out faster than you could imagine. I finally gave up and special ordered it. It'll be in next week. That's pretty much the only series at the moment that I'm interested in getting on DVD, though I want to finish Cowboy Bebop sometime, I've seen most of it already.

np: Cross My Heart - Ayashi no Ceres

The Last Fling sleepover almost set for Friday. *v* Swear that after that I'll buckle down and work hard. Well, Japanese class starts next week, so I won't have much choice. Plans for Friday night include mocking of either LotR, Interview With the Vampire, or both. Probably much go, too.

And Bound ramblings for the few that care, but mostly to remind myself to get my butt in gear...all the pages that remained were all on their second draft, and I tackled two of them today. One's inked and ready to scan, one's more than halfway there. So Photoshop for two which shall be easy, plus drawing and ink for two, and then only both color are left! Whoo. :D I'm kinda at a loss for a cover idea at the moment though, so it might be simple in the interest of getting the chapter finished - the splash page this time should be in color anyway. ^^;

My-chan, it's already looking as though I won't make it to Fanime *twitch* (though I'll fight tooth and nail to get there if possible), but I'd say it's nicer than AX. The advantages to AX are the better guests, and...er. I think that's it. (Ikuhara's at Fanime next year, so I'm content with that ^^) I like Fanime better - the cosplay walking around is almost as good, their AMV contest was twenty billion times better than AX this year (wasn't hard to beat), the atmosphere is smaller and I think a bit friendlier...but best of all, it's in one convention center instead of spread across a whole city block. ^_^;

np: One~kono yo ga hatetemo hanarenai - Ayashi no Ceres

Aniki is gone. I will be an only child for my remaining year at home, except during choice holidays. This is something I've longed for, and yet it just crept up on me slowly. It doesn't seem at all like he's gone yet, of course.

My thought for this week has been simply "senior year" and the changes that come with it. I concluded that the biggest change, evident today, is realizing that the conversations going on around you are entirely about each girl's sex life. That did not happen freshman year. No.

The most painful thing about an all-girl's school is all the girls. I'll confess to being a whiny girly-girl at times, but I'm not a stupid girly-girl. Ugh. Everyone has a crush on the new computer teacher (so stupid! teacher! he does not, will not, never will fall in love with you!). Everyone continues to bitch about the honors English novel choices, but I've finally realized the reason none of them are ever pleased...

Teacher: So this is Honors English Four. How many of you actually like to read?
Class: *four people raise their hands*
Teacher: Hmmm.

Luckily, school is going all right for now. Most days I'll only have four classes. Yay.

np: Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto - Gackt

I saw the coolest girl in Borders today.

I wandered into the translated manga section, and seated there was a girl. She wore the most elegant dress - like she'd stepped out of a history picture book. Deep, dark red with lace trim and lacing up the front, and skirts everywhere spread across the floor. Black velvet cat ears were perched on her head, and she was quietly sitting there reading, leaning against the bookshelf. She really looked like something out of a picture book.

I sat on the floor across to her and picked up Paradise Kiss, and I read until it was time to go. I stood to put it back, and she looked up at me. "I love that one - crossdressers and all."

"Yeah," I said. Then, "Are you in cosplay?"

She blinked and then smiled nicely at me. "No, I just dress like this all the time."

I smiled back, unsure if she was serious or no. After a moment, I decided that she was. "Well, you look really pretty."

"Thank you." She looked suprised. I told her I loved her cat ears, and exited the bookstore. I wished immediately that I'd talked to her some more - she seemed so interesting. The dress appeared to be homemade, and I decided without knowing her that I already liked a person who went out wearing dresses like that with cat ears, without caring what other people thought. I wonder if I'll ever see her again.

A girl in a dress from a history book, wearing cat ears, sitting and reading in the bookstore. I think I'd like to draw that. It would make a pretty picture.

The current layout features Fujiwara Rekka, the main character of the online manga Bound, with the song "Hemisphere" by Sakamoto Maaya. Coupled with this layout is Shiori's layout, which features the other heroine of the manga, Toshi. The layout doubles as one big plug for the manga. Read it, you know you want to. Brushes from Vbrush.
