Pain
Music: Phantom Planet - One Ray of Sunlight
"Ngh. My teeth hurt..."
"Maybe if you chewed on something it would make it feel better..."
"Like hell it would! It'd just hurt more!"
"I dunno, babies chew on things when they're teething..."
"Hm. Good point. Well, now I need to find something to che- Hey, lemme borrow your arm for a sec..."
~
So for those of you who don't know (which most of you do), I got four teeth pulled on Thursday. Minus the being ridiculously numb and gross feeling part, it wasn't all that bad. I mean, given it's not fun to have your teeth pulled, but it didn't HURT. I got braces on my bottom teeth today (I'm getting the top done of Friday) and so at first I was like "Meh, this isn't so bad" and I even had a good lunch in Chinatown afterwards. It's been a while since I've last had braces (What, middle school was it? Fish year of high school? I can't remember...) so I totally forgot that you have to WAIT for that dull ache to kick in and just REFUSE TO GO AWAY. ='( I had just gotten back to solid foods and now I'm back on mush (actually, that's not necessarily bad... mmm... pudding...). Anyway, so that's Katie complaining about getting braces... again. I guess. Blargh. NEW TOPIC!
Your ROCK, rock!
~
So I finally got to see I <3 Huckabees, and I must say that I quite liked it. It was really funny, but it being an "existential comedy" it did require a bit more thinking than the common moviegoer probably would have liked. A couple of things that the common moviegoer would have liked? Jude Law (well, pre-scandal Jude Law... either way, he's British and hot) and Naomi Watts (for the guys, or those who just swing that way). So yes, it was funny, and it was good...
yea verily...
and the villagers rejoiced.
Huzzah.
"I WANNA KEEP IT!!!"
"You can't. We can't support it, and there a PLENTY of other reasons why it wouldn't work."
"BUT IT'S SOOOO CUTE!!
"Put it down."
"But-"
"It's not yours!
"BUT IT'S SO CUTE!!"
"You do realize that taking it is considered kidnapping, and I'm sure that the offense would be worsened by the fact that she's a PATIENT at the hospital that you're working at..."
"... poopy..."
~
She's so CUTE. I was working the playroom on Sunday and things are usually pretty slow on Sundays. So I had two patients come in that day, total. One only popped in for a couple of minutes at a time. The other one? She's this adorable little three year old with short brown hair and big brown eyes. I think she may be from Spain, because she only speaks Spanish, but she looks more European that Hispanic (so does her mother). So like I said, she only speaks Spanish, but does that stop her from talking to me, even though she knows that I don't understand a word she's saying? Of course not. Most of the children I deal with usually play by themselves, or with their parents. She played with me, despite the language barrier. When she first showed up, I asked her what she wanted to play with, but she just nodded at me (seemed like the only thing she understood from me was "play") so she went over and tried to pull the wooden block bin out. I got it for her and set it down at a table for her. Seeing that she seemed to be fine by herself there, I went back to my separate table to read. After about three minutes, she suddenly put her blocks back in the bin and moved the bin over to my table, grinning at me the whole time. She started piling the square blocks on top of each other as high as she could. Throughout this whole process she would pause, glance at me, and giggle at how high the her "tower" had gotten, expecting me to giggle with her about it as if it were our tower instead of hers. Each time it broke, she would just laugh and then start over. After a while, her mother came in and while she was looking at some of the papers posted up on the walls, the little girl looked at me, shushed me, and started whispering to me in Spanish which I later figured out meant that she wanted to build this next tower without her mother knowing. When this one was built up to a height she was satesfied with, she got her mother's attention. The exchange that followed was totally lost to me except for the last part...
"Es por quién?"
(It's for who?)
"Es por ti."
(It's for you.)
"Por quién?"
(For who?)
"Por tiiiiiiiii!!"
(For yoooooouuuuuuuuuu!!)
(this last part said with her head cocked to the side, hands clasped, shoulders up, and an enourmous grin pasted to her face)
That was it. It was all over. I wanted one. Spanish that I didn't understand and all. She was TOO cute. =D
Anyway, that's my post for tonight. One more thing before I finish up. Although it may not seem like it, comments are always appreciated. Soooo... from here on in, I'm gonna try to respond to all of the comments for a particular post in a separate comment there (just like Cindy does, if you read her blog). So, have at it folks. And on that note, I say "night night, all." =D

Translation for those not familiar with l337speak: "fear my penis."
That comment was made by my sister on AIM at exactly 1:54:32 AM this morning. Just thought I'd share.

Mood: Boo hoo...
Music: Muse - Time is Running Out
Unnnn... Ok, so there are two parts to my "Boo hoo..."
Part I
"I'm dying."
"No, you're not."
"Well, I FEEL like I am, so to me it's the same damn thing, now isn't it?"
~
I've been off of my allergy medicine since Tuesday because I have to go in for an allergy test next week. I thought I'd be fine. It's only a week... By the second day, I was turning red and getting itchy everywhere. Not cool. What IS cool is that I figured out a way to prevent my allergic reactions without resorting to medication... Only problem is that now I look like I have SARS. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I'm walking around the house with a surgical mask on. The stupid carpet kills me otherwise (no, seriously, I sat on my floor the other night and I almost died... well, ok, I didn't REALLY almost DIE, but I got REALLY itchy and red and... well, grody).
Part II
"Where the hell is my computer?"
"In Louisville, Kentucky."
"Why the hell is it all the way over there?!"
"Because you SENT it there, dumbass."
"... oh."
~
My Lappy's across the country (sorta... Kentucky's not TECHNICALLY across the country, but it's far, dammit). I called technical support about my fussy/nonstop PMS-y CD/DVD drive, and they didn't know what was wrong with it, so they had me UPS it over to their service center. Should arrive today. I'll call about it tomorrow. I miss Lappy already... =( On the up side of this situation, the fact that I was gonna send it in with the possibility of everything being wiped out finally prompted me to go through all my files and delete whatever I didn't want so that I could send everything else to the old computer as back up. Yay for cleaning out my computer. Boo for sending it away.
Anyway, so that's my "boo" and my "hoo." Now for something completely different. Cindy has gotten me addicted ("I tried to give you up, but I'm addicted") to Muse. When she first let me listen to them, I was like "Um, this is... nice?" but now they've grown on my like some crazy fungus (not that fungus usually grows on me... um... well, you know what I mean). Anyway, so if you've had enough of me whining about/promoting things then go here for something extraordinarily amusing (it takes a little while to load, but believe me, it's worth it). "DO NOT WAAAAAAANNNNTTT!!!" Go there and understand you will.

Mood: Stupid... like, REALLY stupid.
Music: Seven Channels - Breathe
So I was at Texas Children's Hospital, and whenever a patient's sibling under fifteen wants to come into the playroom, their parent/guardian has to fill out a screening form. This little girl wanted to play, so I had to give her mom a form.
We have Spanish and English forms there.
Her mom was Hispanic...
Her mom spoke perfect English when we were talking...
Guess which form I gave her anyway?
-_-;
I could have SWORN that I gave her an English form, it wasn't until after she mentioned "Oh yeah, I can fill this out, cuz I took a Spanish course in college..." that I realized... that... I... didn't...
Who feels like a jackass?
I DO!!
I think I'll just go lock myself away in the middle of deep South Alabama and hope I get lynched.

Mood:
Excited (see bottom of post for why)
Music: Howl's Moving Castle OST - Jinsei no Merry-go-round
Where do to begin? Well, I've never heard such a silly question before! From the beginning of course! And now without further ado... since the last post, I've been camping, been volunteering, been to see Howl's Moving Castle, and been to Kemah boardwalk... and what does the future hold? Well, we'll get into that later.
Camping!
Wanna see pictures? There aren't many, cuz I kinda gave up on taking them halfway through the trip, but those are what I have. So me and some of my college friends went camping in beautiful JASPER, TX!! WHOO HOO!! -_-; Yes, I do realize I'm not white. No, I'm not retarded. None of us got lynched, which is good, but we did get harrassed by raccoons... MANY times... they stole our potatoes and some of our bread. Hmph. We went swimming in the lake on the second day, which was acutally a lot of fun, with us dunking each other (or more like me getting dunked by a multitude of people without being able to successfully dunk ANYONE, but whatever). OH! AND WE HAD SMORES!! And I had forgotten how FREAKIN' good real, fire roasted smores were... *drool* Anyway, so yeah, the rest of the trip was pretty much setting up camp, playing with fire cooking, cleaning, hanging out, and clearing the camp.
Volunteering
So as many of you may know, I have been volunteering at a pharmacy and at Texas Children's Hospital. As far as TCH volunteering goes, all I can say is that "baby syndrome" has hit full force. When there are kids in the play room, I'll watch over them, be nice, and all that, but as soon as some parent walks in with their baby in their arms, it's all over. That's when I find myself sitting on one of the minichairs staring at the baby, randomly cooing at it. -_-;
Howl's Moving Castle
So I went and saw the latest Miyasaki film, and I actually really liked it... until we reached the end of the movie. Then it just got weird and random. Another main issue I had with it? Miyasaki films usually seem to have a good English voice acting cast... but I guess everything must have it's exceptions... -_-; Despite Howl being Christian Bale (I AM BATMAN!!) he had issues with some of the lines, and as for Young Sophie... ngh. The rest of the cast, however, was pretty really good. So Huzzah. Anyway, not counting those mishaps, Howl's Moving Castle was beautifully drawn/animated, had good music, fun characters, and nifty animated magic stuff. =D Anyway, afterwards, I went and borrowed the book it was based on from the library... That was good too... in a completely different way though. When they say based on the book, they mean LOOSELY based, like "I just took the characters and ran with it!" loosely based.
Kemah Boardwalk for the 4th of July
Ka-boom! =D
Future?
HARRY POTTER SIX COMES OUT THIS SATURDAY (well, Friday night, Saturday morning, whatever)!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!! Will I be at the Barnes and Noble midnight party thingy? YEAH, I will!! I'm a dork like that. =D And after that? Phantom of the Opera at the Hobby Center, baby! w00t! This will bring Phantom count to three. I have yet to see the movie, but both times I've seen the musical, it was superb. If it's any less than that, well... gr, argh. Ok, so that's all for tonight's late/lengthy post. Night all~!

Mood: Bored
Music: Gavin DeGraw - Chariot
Oh chariot your golden waves... I'm bored... and what does Katie do when she gets bored? She thinks. She thinks about all different kinds of things ranging from "Ooooh, shiny hair thingy..." to "The mention of the leaves 'stirring in dense masses like women's hair' during Winston's dream in 1984 symbolizes his unconcious desire for a woman's physical/sexual affections (I'm not even kidding, I seriously thought that when I read it)... but my most recent thought?
Everyone seems to have some sort of drama in their life right about now, and when they try to tell me about it, I try to imagine it as as big of a deal as they make it out to be... and I just can't do it. "Oh my gosh, I'm having relationship problems with this person or that person. WHAT A CRISIS!! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!! WAAAAAAAAaaaaaahhhh..." I dunno, maybe I just over-simplify things but I really don't think it's that BIG of a deal. Your world is NOT going to end, you've just been watching too many movies, so you THINK it is. I don't usually tell people that unless they seem to ALWAYS have some sort of "MAJOR CRISIS." For those of you who really know me, you know that one of the few things that I simply can't STAND is a drama queen/king/emperor/whatever the hell else. So if they just won't shut up and get over whatever problem they're having, then I just get fed up and put it plainly for them. Of course, that doesn't always end well... "You just don't understand!" Ooook, so maybe I don't, cuz given, I don't have much experience with relationships (I know, I'm sad), but I CAN provide an objective opinion which is not something you can do when you're upset, and to put it plainly, the "You just don't understand!" excuse is just something people use when they don't know how to justify whatever they're trying to... in other words... "You don't understand" = "I don't know why I'm doing this and I don't have a good reason for it, but I wanna argue against you for it anyway!" It's stupid. If you don't have a good reason for it, don't try pretend that you do and waste my time trying to justify it to me, cuz you can't. So, that's the Katie thought (which somehow turned into a rant... -_-; Whoops.) Are walking down upon this face...

Mood: Hungry (mmm... Creme Brulee... mmm... Korean food)
Music: Jack Johnson - Sitting, Waiting, Wishing
Now I was sitting, waiting, wishing... So me and Cindy went to go see Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Friday. Man oh man, it was hot. =D Brad Pitt (and Angelina Jolie, for that matter) is sexy to the nth degree. I wouldn't say it was one of the greatest movies I've seen, but it was funny/cute in a shoot 'em up, blow it up kinda way. ^ ^;
Anyway, in other news, I had my first day at the pharmacy on Thursday. It was interesting/kinda fun. Lance (the owner) is a cool guy and everyone else there is really nice. I learned how to prepare pills from Ayumi which was interesting (though I'm not sure I REALLY remember the whole process, but I'll figure it out).
On another note, Cindy made creme brulee tonight, but it has to be chilled for four hours or something crazy like that, so no creme brulee for Katie tonight. However, tomorrow, you just wait... VICTORY SHALL BE MINE!! Oh, and mommy, Cindy, and I are also going to go to Korean town for lunch tomorrow... so tomorrow is going to be filled with yumminess... =)
Anyway, that's all for tonight kiddies! That you believed in superstitions...

Mood: Hmph
Music: Um, the sound of me typing?
I think the world is trying to tell me something...
So a couple nights ago, I go to Barnes and Noble with some friends and Josh sees me there, and the following confrontation happened something like this...
Josh: "Hey Julia! What's up?"
Me: "Julia?"
Josh: "Oh... that's not your name is it..."
Me: "I AM NOT TALKING TO YOU!"
And now a couple of seconds ago on AIM...
Me: where is it?
Christine: um.
Christine: julia rivers or something
It's official. I was supposed to be a Julia, but I like being a Katie, so HA! TAKE THAT WORLD! I'M A KATIE, NOT A JULIA AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHANGE!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
...
or CAN you?

Mood: Nerdy
Music: Sound of Chinese women gossiping...
WOW, it's been a long time since my last post... In case you haven't noticed, I put up a new template. =) I know, it's very... girly, but I thought it was funny and a bit summer-y, so it's up. I've also made little (okay, not so little...) mood icons that I've pulled from Bleach manga (I'm sorry, but Bleach just has some great goofy faces) so I'm gonna try to keep that going and such. I know that there are still some kinks that I need to work out of the layout, so if you find any feel free to let me know. Anyway... on with the post!
So what's happened this summer? Well, I hung out with some friends, hung out some more, and um, slept? -_-; We went and saw Star Wars Episode III on opening night and we got there four (or was it five?) hours early. It was an interesting experience... There were lightsabers everywhere and people dressed like Jedi and such. Reid kept on making Wookiee noises and all of us kept on making crude comments about the lightsaber that vibrated (ahem). Anyway, as for the actual movie... it was funny... and not in a good way. In the "Oh my GAWD, the acting is SO bad, HAHAHAHAHA!" kinda way. But I will admit that there were some really cool parts (YODA IS THE MAN!) Afterwards we went to IHOP and hung out there fore a while. End of adventure. Huzzah.
A couple night later... The Thespis Award Show happened. I went and I watched. It happened. The Mariner (the UIL show that went to STATE w00t!) swept the award show yay for them. Afterwards some of us went to Town Center and wandered around for a bit until we finally walked to Friday's. Mmmm... Friday's. We found Kurzym there ("CAN I NOT GET AWAY FROM YOU PEOPLE?!") and harrassed her for a bit. Afterwards, we went home. End of adventure II. Huzzah huzzah.
As for the rest of the time in between then and now, they were just random events of hanging out with different people and fun stuff like that. Problem now? We're out of things to do. Sugar Land is SO boring. Jeez. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to chunk them at my head, cuz I sure can't think of anything. End transmission. Ta ta for now...
