Sun 6/3 - off. Dreary weather combined with low motivation to do anything kept me inside all day. Flareup of soreness and swelling a bummer.
Sat 6/2 - AM just under 50 minutes flopping around in Walden pond. Attempted a run from home earlier in the morning, it wasn't happening. Limping, not running. Too much too soon.
Fri 6/1 - 65 minutes again, Area 51. Shin more sore than it was yesterday, but manageable. For now.
THu 5/31 - PM 65 minutes very easy to easy, Area 51. A surprising turn of events, I had planned on a mixed land/water run in and around Walden but cool overcast conditions made me think twice. Decided to give straight running a try, planning on taking breaks as needed while shin loosened up. As it turned out, while the shin was sore it loosened up relatively quickly and presented no issues at the very gentle pace I was going. Tightness/soreness returned after 20 minutes in the lateral tibial area which was a mild bummer, and core got unbelievably stiff and sore like it always does after a layoff of any more than three days. All this was dwarfed by simply being able to run at all for any duration without debilitating pain. Once again, tomorrow will tell the tale in how both sides of the shin feel.
Wed 5/30 - off. Stuck in errand hell all afternoon, and unable/unwilling to pry myself out of bed in the morning. Some soreness and stiffness in the shin after yesterday's brief jog, but nothing like how bad it felt last week. Feels worst after long periods of sitting, and loosens up relatively quickly.
Tue 5/29 - PM 50 minutes in Walden, with 5 sets of 90 seconds-1 minute-30 seconds with equal recovery. Words can't describe how much I detest the water running. I've developed a mild sore throat, possibly from swallowing pond water, possibly from flopping around in the cool waters, but the pond visits definitely have something to do with it. Big news today is that I ran most of the way between the car and the pond both ways, a little under 20 minutes total. Feeling the compulsion to test it out. Initial pain and stiffness in the shin dissipated and I was able to shuffle slowly along the rr tracks without crippling hobbling pain. How it feels tomorrow will be very interesting. The icing may be working better than anticipated, if only I'd started it sooner--like two weeks ago.

Mon 5/28 - PM 60 minutes in Walden, w/15x minute hard/minute easy in the middle. The water running is what it is, damn boring. I could do without the waves smacking me in the head. Icing the shin seems to be helping, now I have to start stretching again.
