Sun 12/31 - AM 75 minutes easy in Area 51. Yesterday's snow made for less than ideal footing, first use of the screw shoes as a result. Feeling better than yesterday, still stuffed up. PM 45 minutes easy. Too tired for strides or much more than a putter. Cold but calm conditions.
Sat 12/30 - PM 30 minutes or so of scatterbrained jogging in and near the BU track, warming up for a joke of a 1600 relay leg that thankfully never happened. Legs bounced back decently from yesterday, although hip is somewhat locked up, but feeling far too tired to bother with any fast running of any kind. In particular, congestion and sore throat symptoms have made it difficult to get good rest. Did the full set of warmup drills which loosened up the legs somewhat and made the whole thing somewhat worthwhile. Planning on going out to run some more after the meet wrapped up, but realized there would be no point and so I called it a day instead.
Fri 12/29 - AM 30 minute warmup follwed by 4800m in 16:48 (5:41, 5:35, 5:31). Aiming for a 4 mile cut down with more like an 8-10 second drop between miles but it wasn't happening. Too early, too cold, too windy and way too much snot. The last mile took way too much effort for the modest pace. Not close to awake. later AM 75+ minutes in Wellesley and environs, incl. Dover road. Relaxed run with the kiddies, although legs got a bit wobbly near the end. 6 strides with negligible rest at the end which was interesting.
Thu 12/28 - PM 70 minutes, Levittown to Elsbeth. The slow plodding of yesterday paid dividends as legs felt much more crisp today, with six strides on the way in to boot. This despite being congested all day at work and feeling quite tired on getting home. Some doubt as to whether I would even head out, but it was worth the effort.
Wed 12/27 - AM 35 minutes very easy. Stiff and rickety. PM 55 minutes. Longfellow loop. At least as slow as the morning run. Feeling quite peaked and a little sick with the stubborn dry scratchy throat. Hip and hammie locked up after the past two days, felt much better after stretching. Hopefully less sick tomorrow as well.
Tue 12/26 - AM 40+ minutes easy, Area 51. Similar to yesterday morning. Took a while to get going this morning. PM RLTAC 3x800 avg. 2:27, 1600 5:03 (2:33/2:30), 2x800 2:27.4, 2:28.7. Unable to finish the Sev Special. Feeling distressingly flat during the warmup, fog cleared briefly for the first three 800s, reality began to set in during the mile as the desired pace took a lot more effort than it should have. Got through the next 800 in one piece but the familiar out of gas feeling set in on the last one. Inability to complete the session completely a result of being overtired from the past week, first the mania leading to the vacatio then the driving all over the place the last three days. Well-rested, I could have done the entire workout and finished it off with a flourish, legs certainly felt up to it but just no energy. Alas and alack.

Mon 12/25 - AM 45+ minutes, Area 51. Slow and steady, not fully awake. Right leg feels better after last night's stretching. PM 55 minutes incl. 4 trips springing up the Thompson Road hill. The bounding felt fairly crisp. Dry scratchy throat making a comeback thanks to not getting enough rest lately.
