Sun 12/25 - AM 60 minutes, Longfellow loop with 10 30/60s thrown in. Still dragging along a bit from the overall tiredness, took about half an hour to feel awake. The pickups were nothing spectacular, but decent enough for maintaining some turnover. PM 30 minutes, 4.1m on the treadmill. 7.5 to 9.4 mph. Feeling a bit more like myself.

Sat 12/24 - AM 80 sloooow minutes in Area 51. Knee somewhat stiff to start, but what really kept the pace down was feeling dead-ass tired the whole time. The lack of sleep lately has piled up, and two workouts in three days midweek was the coup de grace. As such, kept things very mellow. Most of the main paths in Area 51 now passable with the "grooming" of sorts by various snowmobiles and ATVs. Much warmer temps than in recent days, leading to some welcome ablation of the snowpack as well. Planned PM run went by the boards, took a long nap instead. That kind of day.

Fri 12/23 - off. Hit broadside with the Friday tiredness, no real surprise after a few late nights midweek, for the second week in a row. Right knee tight and sore from last night's workout.

Thu 12/22 - AM 3m in 23 minutes on the treadmill. Started slowly and gradually built up the speed. Able to sleep in this morning, thankfully. PM RLTAC 2(2000, 1200) 3.5R between reps, 5R between sets. Splits of 6:10, 3:36.7, 6:09, and 3:36.7. Short warmup after standing around at the kiddies' meet all afternoon, legs felt odd right from the get-go. Not heavy, but not all there. Just spinning along the first rep, pace felt like a jog thanks to the hard 400s two days ago. Fatigue began setting in on the 1200, legs getting wobbly. Unable to push the pace at the end of the last three reps beyond what had already been established. One wonders what the extra day of rest would have meant for this workout, as it is I did a scaled back version w/o the 800s. Very slow cooldown inside.

Wed. 12/21 - 30 minute shuffle around the Fens. Took in the sight of all the camera trucks getting ready for their live remote bemoaning the loss of Johnny Damon. Legs not as sore as expected from last night, absolutely no zip or life in them either, also as expected. Could have run at this pace for a long long time but had to cut it short. Another cold dry windy day.

Tuesday 12/20 - PM RLTAC 8x400, 1.5R. It doesn't get much more basic, although with the caveat that the first two were supposed to be 5k pace, next two 3k pace, next two mile pace, then whatever was left after that. Ended up running splits of 70.5, 71.5, 68.4, 68.5, 66.5, 65.6, 65, and 64.8. First four a bit faster than planned, next two dead on, last two at least able to run a tiny bit faster. A little short on the rest the first six, made up for it with 1:45 recoveries before the last two. Probably the extra 15 seconds recovery was the only way I was able to squeeze any more speed out. As expected, got through the first five before things got really interesting, last one took a lot of focus. Back in two days to go again, hopefully I'll be capable of it as mild sore throat is making it damn hard to sleep soundly.

Mon 12/19 - PM 50+ minutes, Longfellow loop. Stride felt crisp as it often does the day after a treadmill run. Six short pickups on the way in. Moving well despite not feeling especially alert at the outset. Just like clockwork, the dry scratchy throat feeling has cropped up after a week of not getting enough sleep. Until it gets better, falling asleep is even harder, nice catch-22 there. After still conditions all day the wind picked up noticeably during the run.
