Sun 4/23 - PM 75 minute rain-soaked crawl in Area 51, starting along track road. Yesterday's crappy conditions continued into today with off-an-on showers but more on than off. I tried to wait them out but ended up running in the heaviest rain of the day, with the added bonus of the worst coming in the last 10 minutes. With temps in the 40s and a persistent wind it was not fun, a treadmill run would have been better but after last night I don't know that I would have been able to focus enough for it. Legs sore but not as bad as they might be after last night's long workout. Last day of the vacation and I spent much of it asleep.
Sat 4/22 - AM 35 minutes, Maynard TF. Moving slowly, barely awake. Feeling quite tired since yesterday evening, probably from Thursday's double. PM 1200-3k-1200-3k-1200 with lap jog between each, or just under 2 minutes recovery. 1200s each went in 3:46, 3ks of 10:07, 10:09. As the day progressed the weather went downhill, slept a lot and feeling quite strung out so there was some question as to whether I'd even attempt this. Conditions were less than perfect with cool temps and rain, but at least the wind slacked off somewhat. First 1200 felt all-out, not at all comfortable. 3k went much better, able to get into a rhythm as it went along. The rest of the workout played out in similar fashion. Last two 1200s were right on the edge, probably not 10k pace but I did make it through the entire workout for once. A solid effort considering the circumstances.
Fri 4/21 - PM 65 minutes very slow, Brookline to Jamaica Pond and back. Yesterday's effort left me only able to putter today, not surprisingly. Unable to do strides in this condition which is a mild disappointment. Cool wind blowing all day.
Thu 4/20 - AM 40 minutes in Area 51. Slept better last night, still stiff on the run however and took it very easy. A nice morning, warm and breezy. Like various recent easy runs, took a long break in the middle to poke around off the beaten path in the woods in someone's long-abandoned farm. PM 90 minutes in Lincoln woods, starting with a loop around Farrar pond. From the get-go, feeling much more spry than on any run in the past week or two. Kept it under control for just over an hour then picked it up progressively towards the end. Unexpectedly cool after the sunny afternoon, persistent wind had something to with it but it made for a nice evening to run. Finished feeling pleasantly tired.
Wed 4/19 - AM 30 minutes very easy in Area 51. Spent an uneasy night tossing and turning after the workout, took a while to get out of bed this morning. Moving very slowly as a result of these factors. PM 65 minutes, Lincoln woods. Feeling better than expected after the morning's run, never really pressing the pace but the legs weren't as sore as I thought they'd be. Cooler morning turned into a warm afternoon, very pleasant even with the inevitable gusty wind.
Tue 4/18 - AM 30 minutes or so very easy in Area 51. With the vacation, able to sleep in a bit and still run in the morning. Legs still not quite back but feeling better than the past two days. Overall could feel better, could feel worse. Bright sun but still the cool breeze. PM Bentley 3(400, 400, 800) with 1.5R between 400s and just under 3R after the 800s. The 400s were all clustered around 70, fourth and fifth ones were the fastest. 800s went 2:25.4, 2:25.4 and 2:26. Able to hit the numbers but it took a lot of effort, spent after the third set. The short rest caught me by surprise, made things interesting. Bentley breeze was there as always, on the homestretch today, but not especially strong. Longish warmup, shorter on the cooldown.

Mon 4/17 - AM 50 minutes or so easy in Cambridge, Fresh Pond to the river and back. Puttering along quite slowly, still feeling it from Saturday. Once again, wanted to to strides, but it wasn't happening as legs are too dead and overall feeling flat. Windy as usual, still northerly, not the most pleasant.
